What an unexpected surprise, it the best way. We are always on the hunt for really authentic Mexican food, and we are more often than not, extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. Our stop here was purely by chance, having literally walked out of three other places nearby and exhausted from a long day of work. I've walked by it before, but from the outside, it didn't seem like much so we never checked out. But, boy am I glad we did. First of all, it has a really genuine Mexican feel to it, and extremely welcoming. It's not fancy by any means or spectacularly decorated, but that's part of its charm. It's a neighborhood haunt that is exactly what it should be. Service to me is everything, and the waitress was adorable and friendly and great with recommendations and being attentive without being annoying. The only real negative with this place was the time it took to get our food. It was a bit on the long side, especially given that we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. (Though they clearly do a considerable take out business.) That said, OMG ... what came out once it did was well worth the wait, and clearly cooked from scratch, not from some tray or backend freezer where it was pre-made. This was the real, AUTHENTIC deal. (I love that we could see into the kitchen and see that each dish was being carefully prepared too.) And the proportions were humongous. I had the steak fajita. It was so perfectly cooked and tender. The meat literally melted in my mouth. Flavorful and with just the right seasoning. I had some leftover that I brought home. It never made it to the next morning. I finished it before the night was over, and I typically don't eat leftovers. My hubby had the enchilada. That was delicious. Yes, I ate some of that too ... including what he had left over. I can't remember the last time I had good Mexican food like this. We've eaten at some of the best NYC Mexican restaurants from $ to $$$$ from Queens to Manhattan. Husband was craving mexican so we decided to order for delivery. The shrimp tacos were not good - shrimp was curled up and smaller than a pinky nail and fillings consisted of overcooked old green peppers. Sort of reminded me of a pre made frozen taco. We also ordered a pork quesadilla and steak burrito. The quesadilla was alright but nothing out of this world and was also very salty. Now for the burrito - The burrito had an unpleasant surprise. We found a piece of trapped hair between the lid of the container and the food and pulled it out thinking fine, whatever, no big deal (even during covid *rolls eyes*). Awesome authentic Mexican place. Ive only had delivery here so I don't know what the actual restaurant looks like. They are on seamless which is what i used to order from them. Delivery was super quick and the food was delicious. Pretty good for anywhere but i think they stand out a little in this area because they are not too many Mexican restaurants in the area. The chicken enchiladas verde were kind of meh, they were swimming in sauce which was a bit heavy on the cilantro and the chicken could have been more flavorful. Was looking for Birria tacos in the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place on seamless. Food: I ordered the Birria tacos and I would rate it 10/10 SO GOOD! The thing I like about their Birria tacos is that it includes cheese (some places don't do that). I didn't see Birria consome on the menu but they actually pack it with the Birria tacos order. I got a small container with the beef soup (aka Birria consome) to dip the tacos in and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Birria tacos and look forward to trying out more of their menu items! This is literally my go to when I want mexican food. I have been ordering from here for two years or a bit more and I have yet to be disappointed. I like to order over the phone opposed to using grub hub though. I realized certain things aren't on the menu for grubhub. My go to plate is enchiladas en salsa verde or tortas or their flautas. Pechuga Asada (chicken) -Rice -Sweet Plantain Cecina Quesadilla (salt cured beef steak?) Carne Enchilada Quesadilla (beef) Carne Asada Paloilla (beef) -Sweet Plantain -Rice Chips and Salsa Pechuga Asada Torta (chicken) Papas Fritas (fries) + 5$ delivery fee. Delivery was prompt and food was still warm. I didn't get any major complaints except someone would've liked their sour cream on the side instead of being slapped on top of their quesadilla. Rice can be bland on its own but with the asada seasoned meats it was a good balance--I didn't feel like I was going into a coma after eating, even with the sweet plantains. If you reside in Queens and do not want to drive to areas of great Mexican food - well you found your place. First off. Don't bother with food app deliveries. If you obtain their number they deliver for free!! The delivery guy is very friendly and efficient. Tip him well. I would not say the food is 5/5 fresh though it's pretty darn close. Everyone has a different budget for restaurants, so I get it. So far I've tried the Guacamole, and tortilla chips. The chips are made on premise. Served warm, the guacamole ( not guac - say it out loud, and you'll see how idiotic it sounds) was a bit creamy for my taste. Though I think it will suffice for most. I always go for the salsa and chips. That's my personal choice. The rice and beans have a abundance of flavor. A great side dish. I've only had the shrimp tacos. They are prepared pretty well. It would be perfect if it had chopped onion and cilantro, though I'm being a bit picky. The beverages!!! They have hibiscus tea, tamarind, and horchata - all are great. This is my general order and it's always been consistent. I cannot testify for the other foods available due to my diet. Though I can say without a doubt I'm thoroughly pleased with this restaurant. Ordered from here for dinner last night after discovering it on grubhub. Pros: food was delicious, fresh, flavorful & delivery was nice and quick Cons: the prices were steep for Mexican food & there was a $5 delivery fee (who has delivery fees these days?!), only gave a small portion of chips for the guac I wish the prices were better because I'd order from here all the time as the food was so delicious (steak tacos, guac and chips, rice and beans). But I can't bring myself to spend an extra $5 on a delivery fee, plus tip, tax, and food. I will definitely order again though when I feel like splurging and treating myself lol read more
