Just had my first UYE (unofficial Yelp event) at Margherita Pizzeria. My small group of 4 ordered the regular pie. I really enjoyed this event and the location on Jamaica Avenue was a convenient meeting place, looking liking a small cafeteria. The service was very friendly and cordial. They bought napkins and plates along with our drinks. When the pizza pie came out; hot and fresh, they delivered it to our table. This is a very small place and we were lucky to find a seat and there's no restrooms. My very first small bite, into the slice of margarita pizza was absolutely delicious, it had a sweet savory taste and looked like Vodka sauce. This is a cash pay system and they do allow you to stand and eat at the counter. I will most definitely be returning. I'm very satisfied with this visit... Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

They only accept cash. I ordered one pepperoni slice which was $5.25. You order by the slice or pie. They do not have combos. They only take cash. The employees are just there working nothing good or bad to add here. The pizza was delicious with a crunch crust, tasty sauce, and ample cheese. I went at lunch time so it was pretty busy. No, you will not find parking bc it's located on a busy street where TONS of buses run and tons of people shopping from the many stores in the area. You will encounter some oil bc the slices are fresh, they aren't reheated from sitting in a plastic case for hours. Now I'd admit that by no means have I actually tried every place in the Borough, nor have I had Margherita's in 20 years (), but I've been told by someone whom I worked with several years ago that it's Still as great as years past - after all, they've been in business since the mid '60's . Last time I tried the pizza at this location it was not the same as it use to be. The taste was different and it just didn't have that signature margarita taste. I don't know if they change there ingredients or it's just new management . From the sauce to the cheese and crust wasn't the margarita pizza I remember. There is a *tiny* counter near the order window that can comfortably fit two people. Pre-COVID, maybe 3. For residents in the area, this place is no secret. It's also not a pizzeria I'd recommend going out of the way for, but it is a pizza spot that deserves a look when nearby. Slices have inflated their way up to $3.50 (#3) and pies are in the $25-30 range now. While they do take credit card, cash is king. Pizza wise, this is a classic NY slice. It's thin and even a tad floppy, but the portion, seasoning in the sauce and cheese are on point. The plain cheese slice is lovely, pepperoni lovers can expect an extra helping of grease (#5) but when in doubt, shoot for a whole pie. With extra cheese. During my recent trip to NYC, I was in the mood for some authentic NY style pizza and Margherita Pizza came up in the results for something relatively close to JFK airport. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of pizza : Good. I got the plain cheese and added some red pepper flakes and garlic powder. The sauce was sweet and the pizza was piping hot. It did not droop or fold when I held it with one hand which is a sign of a good New York style pizza. Décor: none. This is very much a get in, get your slice, and get out kind of a place. There is a narrow aisle where you stand, pay cash (CC not accepted), get your pizza, and leave. Cleanliness: meh. I did not see anybody cleaning anything. Service: meh. Your goal should be to walk in and walk out ASAP. They are here to sell you a slice of pizza and that's about it. Price: cheap for NYC. A slice of plain cheese is $3.50. If you're in the mood for some quick good cheap pizza and don't care about a bit of a sleazy experience with some interesting characters hanging out inside/outside the place then this is a good option.
