Los Amores de Julia is such a beautiful place! The ambiance is stunning, with a design that's truly pleasing to the eye. The food was quite good, too! We ordered the chilaquiles that were perfectly crunchy paired with a deliciously spicy sauce that really hit the spot. I also tried the quesabirria tacos with broth on the side, and they were flavorful. The drinks were aesthetically pleasing. However, I ordered the mezcalito flight, and unfortunately, it was far too sweet--more like flavored candy--which overpowered the taste of the mezcal. The staff was attentive and personable but there seemed to be a communication issue, as our food and drinks took a bit of a detour around the restaurant before arriving at our table. We were also there for a Mariachi and they never showed up. That said, I'm looking forward to returning once these small issues are ironed out. This place has a lot of potential! read more

The restaurant is actually really beautiful. I ve the decor. We asked for water and iced tea to start. They di not have iced tea. So 2 waters. They brought us 2 bottled waters, which would have been a few dollars each. No. Thanks. Iced water is fine. I've never been charged for water at a restaurant. That was a red flag We ordered our food. Our server seemed very helpful with descriptions of the items. I'm sure he meant well. Neither dish was what we expected. A Carne "steak" but served in a bowl. The flavor was very good, but it was more if a soup than a steak . Let me be fair, it was delicious! Just not as described. My potato and house-made chorizo tacos were actually toquitos, and didn't seem to have any chorizo in them. At all. They should have been abroller taco appetizer. They were tasty, because I like potatoes. I would havw loved any chorizo in them. I shared these with my hubs and he agreed , potential, but not there yet. read more

How to express the deliciousness that was given to us at this establishment? Let's start with service, raymundo was full off information and was very caring. He made wonderful recommendations in every category of the menu. He was so happy to share with us about each dish. The enchiladas mole were fabulous, full of flavor. The asada fries were small but also very good. The fish tacos on handmade fresh corn tortillas were absolutely delicious. With homemade salsas and corn tortillas this reminded me of my great grandmother. The drinks while a little pricey had great taste and presentation. This place is wonderful for a date night. The only recommendation I would have is make the serving size just a little bigger. read more

This place is fairly new but they seemed to have it down for only being open a few weeks. Went for a bday brunch on a Saturday and it was not busy at all. The bar area is very spacious and they have a variety of tequilas and spirits. We didn't sit at the bar area but that was fine because if you ordered any of their specialty flights, they brought the bar to you! They have a small mobile bar that they roll to your table and prepare the flights for you on the spot. Pretty cool. The food was great! Variety of options! When we asked for water they brought us bottles of water, not glasses of water. I've never heard of getting charged for water in a sit down restaurant. The overall experience was loud and exxxxxpensive. They brought out table a trio of tiny shallow salsas that had no sabor and when we asked about chips that too was included as a charge on our bill. I looked on the menu and saw no mention of tortilla chips to see how much we were charged but come on 3 tacos for $18.00? Sadly the music is way too loud to have a conversation over dinner and the food wasn't worth the price point. I doubt this place will stand the test of time. I really love trying new places which brought us to this place. Very nice atmosphere, ambience and vibe. Very clean with a fairly large dinning area. You are greeted with smiles and immediately seated by a friendly host. Now for the food..... We ordered a "Carne cooked in its own sauce" and received a green chili soup with some of the most gristly beef I've ever had. They seriously need to revamp the description on this. Very misleading. The waitress did offer to swap it for something else which we did. We chose the salmon which was absolutely delicious. The problem was the waitress said it would be 15 minutes but actually took over a half hour. My wife ordered chicken "tacos", but instead got taquitos stuffed with potatoes. There was literally ZERO chicken! Luckily she likes potatoes but to say they are chicken tacos and then serve these was very disappointing. There is a hint of chicken flavor but don't expect actually pieces of chicken. The beans and rice were delicious at least but the tortillas were very cold corn tortillas that didn't match well with the meal. Now the service...... The biggest problem we had with this place is the underhanded way the waitress explained everything. Very vague. We ended up paying for extra beans and rice, they conveniently didn't have any fountain coke so you pay for every bottle they bring you. When your party is 6 or more the gratuity is automatically included and this waitress watched my mom calculate the tip knowing it was already in the bill. I stepped in and told my mom and instantly the waitress started saying oh yeah, the tip is already there! Shady Overall it was an average experience at best and we left feeling deceived. If you are in the mood for old school Mexican food, maybe choose another place as this is "Cuisine" and misses the mark considerably read more

Long overdue for Bakersfield Came on a rainy Monday night at 6:15. Reservations were made through open table. The whole reservation process was simple and easy. The host greeted our party of 4 with a smile and seated us within one minute or two. Ordered the queso fresco with some fresh hand made tortillas and I asked for "Asientos" on the tortillas which made them WAY better. The cheese was so soft and full of flavor. I also enjoyed the red sauce and the pico de gallo. We ordered several plates of food for dinner and my friend also ordered some table Side Mezcalitas, while another friend ordered some cafe de olla which he stated was AMAZING. Over all I loved my cut of Arranchera with the Grilled onions and jalapeños. I would definitely recommend Los Amores de Julia to all my friends and family for a great Dinner or Brunch Experience. 10/10! read more

I have waited to post this review for a couple weeks. I will now explain my reason. We had a group of 9 that visited this establishment. We were excited a new place to go. We had to wait till half our party was there to be seated, why I'm not sure because the restaurant was mainly empty except for maybe 3 tables. And there was plenty of seating. Once we got seated the waitress gave us our menus and instructed us when taking our drink order they could not give individual bills. They would only do 3 bills per our table so well we had to figure out how or who would be on each ticket. We always pay separately and haven't had any issues any other place. Well we all placed our orders and when they delivered the food one person didn't get theirs. We waited patiently but it took forever for a simple cheese enchiladas dish, everyone was almost done when it finally arrived. There was a server a male and he was doing this dancing at other patrons tables, it was so inappropriate. The place has nice decor and could have potential but not with some guy grinding on customers ordering specific beverages or having a celebration thing. We all agreed as women it was something we wouldn't want our kids to see. His sexual moves on not only women but on men who obviously were unwelcome. It was down right nasty. So 1st the ticket issue then the food problem at our table then the vulger waitstaff grinding all over the place with his dance moves. Then we'll the woman who's meal arrived late decided since it was so late being brought to the table she'd order her boyfriend a meal to go. She ordered a salmon dish. The tickets were given we had to zelle each other money to pay for the tickets because of how they were split. My ticket for 3 meals and 3 drinks 196.00 super expensive and it's not all that. So we pay and leave. The salmon take out dinner ended up being spoiled. I call the restaurant talk to the manager who passes me off to some girl and after all the nights disaster they only credit the one meal instead over covering the girls two meals for all the mess. Super unprofessional so please if you visit this place be warned. We have all agreed that none of us will ever visit this place again for the lack of class and the terrible business we recieved especially giving spoiled food and charged 34 dollars for it. Order an horchata and it comes in the smallest cup you can think of with mostly ice! Get the taco entree and you don't even get beans and rice... that is separate and will be extra. Even worse, they have someone taking photos at your table without telling you how much that will cost. Well photos will cost $25 and they don't even look that great. It's a separate person not even affiliated with the restaurant. So basically they allow someone to solicit more business from you. Save your money and go to one of the many lower cost higher value Mexican food alternatives in Bakersfield. This place is a no go! read more

After seeing the sign being put up and realizing it's going to be a new Mexican restaurant in town. (I mean really?! Another one..... "Sigh".) My companion and I decided to give them a try. The food has great flavor though! The mole was spicy with a sweet and nutty flavor. The chicken was tender and the beans were amazing, however, they were black beans and not pinto. They were out of two items on the menu, both of which my husband wanted to order, so that was mildly annoying. Pros: New restaurant in town is so beautiful. The details were immaculate from the dinnerware, lighting, tables, and chairs. Felt like a very elegant and fun atmosphere to have a birthday dinner. They give you a shot of alcohol if you're celebrating a birthday.Service was great and staff is super friendly. Cons: The glasses where aguas/sodas were served were small which required refills often for some of the diners. The enmoladas that I ordered were okay. I wish the mole wasn't as sweet. The rice was not the best and the refried black beans were also just okay. The birthday girl did not drink alcohol so no treat for her. Consider bringing a cake if you want a treat for your birthday celebration if you don't drink. Overall, I would give the restaurant another try based on service and atmosphere. My sister and I came for brunch and the customer service was outstanding from the moment we walked in the building, we were greeted warmly by Fernando and Armando. Fernando was our waiter and he made sure we had everything we needed. We started off with margarita flights which were so pretty and yummy 10/10. We then ordered ceviche, carne en su jugo and chilakiles and they were all fresh and delicious. Portions were good in my opinion and prices were not bad.
