This mall is really beat up and outdated, also they don't have a lot of stores like before. Quiznos is still there and some other not so well known stores. When you walk in here, you'll feel like it's one of those abandon mall that's is slowly going out of business. Even walking the stairs to go down to the lower level will give you an uneasy vibe because when I was walking back up to the surface street level, there was a shirt hanging from the ceiling and there were water leaks. There also a lot of dark corners and places where I don't believe you'll feel safe during the daytime or nighttime. I only came here to eat at Quiznos because I got pick for Jury Duty and this place was across the street.

A rather sad excuse for a "mall." I know that a lot of things downtown have struggled to remain open during a post-Covid-19, but one would think that they'd still have activity for at least more than just two of the fast food places to stay open, given that they are directly across the street from the courthouse. Everything else listed as "tenants" of the mall is either closed or gone except for a small convenience store, the fast food Japanese, and the extremely mediocre Mediterranean place.

This mini mall that is part underground is truly melancholy, that it's the only thing we have near my job, near city Hall and surrounding businesses and government departments :( The only good things are the convenience of the mail station inside that one business, the CVS - which by the way has sort of a crappy selection compared to others, but the ladies that work there are friendly helpful employees and probably a few selected places to get food or drinks and when I say few selected, I'm talking two or three decent places, the rest of the food joints kinda suck. There are also more credit union ATM's (about two) to use in case ours isn't operating. Other than that, I can't think of a reason why I want to go there......Nope, no other reason unless you like walking upstairs through the area where all the homeless congregate and it's not a pleasant aroma (I Know, I Know! Why would it be, it just smells really bad). I'm surprised they don't use this place more often to film, since it's an ideal looking shady, scary and just plain sad for crime scenes.

I've lived near this place for over 10 years. I keep forgetting that it's there. There is a CVS Pharmacy, a nice Crown (Hallmark) card shop, Sbarro pizza, Quizno's and a few other shops. I went by today and the little park above the shopping area could use some cleaning. It's a bit depressing up there, homeless people sitting around, trash and leaves need to be picked up. The mall area was tidy though. The card shop is big, bright, clean and has very friendly & helpful staff.

There was Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Jim Carrey even stayed hours after he needed to until he had spoken, taken pictures, and signed books for every single person who had waited in line for him. However, after the COVID pandemic they've noticeably stopped coming. Still, The Grove is a nice place to visit because it is so polished and touristy. There's the dancing fountain, free trolley, movie theater, shops and restaurants. Meanwhile, The Farmers Market is right next door, so you can easily walk there as well. It's a good place to kill time. Some stores are a bit on the pricey side, though. The trolley is a bit silly since the ride is so short. It takes longer to wait for the trolley than to just walk from one end of the mall to the other. It is a free novelty, though, so if you have nothing better to do, might as well. Recently, there was a parade and festival at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and I noticed several other people like me walking from there to The Grove since it's only around a 20 minute walk up Fairfax Ave. I think people decided to walk since parking at LACMA is $23 no matter what and we didn't want to pay it again. Parking at The Grove isn't cheap either, but it's easy and convenient since it's a huge multi-story parking garage with digital numbers that tell you how many spots are available on each level. My go to restroom is at the top level of Barnes & Noble, but there's also one at Farmers Market. The views of The Grove from the upper levels of Barnes & Noble are nice. There's also an onsite cafe on that level. Meanwhile, this Barnes & Noble is apparently one of the biggest in the US. Around the holidays, they put up one of the tallest Christmas trees in the US. They hang flying reindeer and a sleigh above the dancing fountain. They also put up a Santa house in the middle of the street where you can take pictures with Santa for a fee. One of the changes I didn't like around the dancing fountain, which is one of the few spots with trees and shade, is that they roped it off so that it became outdoor seating for the restaurants whereas before it was open to anyone. Even though I don't live near here anymore, I still end up visiting every now and then because of nearby festivals. At this point it's so familiar to me that as another reviewer had said "It's an LA staple."

Of course the main focal point, the water fountain and little park. There's plenty of parking in the massive covered parking structure. It's a pretty decent size shopping area which is all outdoor. The main department store which is Nordstrom and then you'll have all the other smaller chains stores. Plenty of dining options, more on the dine in style. If you're looking for something quick and easy, there's the farmers market a couple minutes walk. Of course there's the movie theatre which is great. The whole grove concept is similar to the Americana which is larger. Dining options, shops and of course the fountain. It's a staple in LA that's worth checking out.

It's actually interesting to see a diverse crowd hang out here compared to back then when it was nothing but Korean people. The first floor retains most of the stores that existed back then too; Music Plaza which always had an insane selection of Korean music, the quaint coffee shop near the food court, the stationary store and bookstore near the elevator and of course the Food Court itself. Has the best prices of all sorts of Korean cuisine out there; I always gravitate towards the Dddukgook (Rice Cake Soup). The H-Mart used to be the mall's own market (called Plaza Market). I was a small kid back then, but it's quite congested as a grown adult over 6 foot tall. The layout is exactly the same from back then and I love it. There used to be a very tiny bakery next to the H-Mart on the left, but they have a much larger bakery on the right. The decor is still that same 80s-esque pink and teal tile, which I hope they never change. The second floor used to have this toy store that used to sell all sorts of Power Rangers and Pokemon toys. I miss it dearly, albeit I believe it was very overpriced back then lol. I believe it's the mail store now. The third floor used to have this appliance/electronics store called "ABC Plaza". It had literally everything from USA albums, Korean appliances, and a whole section for Japanese import games. As a kid it felt like paradise. I believe it's now turning into a gym, which is cool in itself. My wife bought me some Pokemon cards from that toy store near the food court, and it reactivated all my memories. Having run an outlet store before, I have much respect for the employees who work and manage these stores. Outlet centers are a non-stop barrage of customers who are looking for bargains, and some of those folks have no regard for putting things back where they got them or expect luxury-level service for bargain bin items. Now, the thing about Citadel Outlets is the roster of brands is impressive. You will find a nice selection of stores, and because it's in the heart of SoCal, you will score some great finds, but the cost is navigating some of the clientele who once again, have NO concept of the social contract and treat their surroundings like trash. Case in point, while I was in the shopping center, a lady walking her dog as she was shopping let her dog deficate on the sidewalk in a sea of people and just left it. There are also plenty of people on their phones playing videos or whatever at full blast. So, if you don't mind people being absolutely anti-social and infringing on basic societal courtesy, you might be okay with shopping here. Of course the center cannot chose it's customers, but in order to score deals, you will most likely have to navigate through some bad behavior, but the center itself has a great assortment of brands- but didn't really see much in the way of dining. Also, the parking was good- but I did visit on a Tuesday afternoon, so it was off peak. Overall, Citadel outlets has an impressive array of outlet stores, but the usual downsides of outlet shopping apply, and a lack of decent food options detracts from the overall experience.

This space is filled with homegrown businesses and unique shops to visit. One of my favorite places is Hightide which is a Japanese stationary and supplies shop. The vibes are immaculate and walking in really feels like being in a store in Japan. Another popular space is Scent Bar for those who love perfume and are aromaphiles. With plenty of small curated artists being featured in this apothecary of aromas, Scent Bar is a nice stop whilst visiting the Row. After that, we all had dinner together at Kura Sushi. After dinner at Kura Sushi, I decided to pick up another kabob to go for my other brother at home. As I was walking back to Kura Sushi with the food, I passed by the restroom area near the food court and a kiosk that appeared to offer eyebrow tattooing services. A Hispanic female janitor was cleaning the area. My mom had called me and was asking me to come back quickly, so I was walking at a very fast pace with the takeout order in my hand. Suddenly, the female janitor jabbed me in the arm and started speaking angrily in Spanish. I couldn't understand a single word she was saying, and I was completely shocked by her behavior. I assume that because I was walking quickly to get back to my mom, I may not have noticed that she had placed a caution sign and was cleaning that section of the floor. Perhaps I accidentally walked through the area she was working on. Even so, I found it completely unacceptable for someone to jab me in the arm like that. To make matters worse, she kept speaking to me in Spanish, which I could not understand. I honestly thought her behavior was very inappropriate. I simply responded, "Please speak English and do not touch me, OK?" My mom was waiting for me and wanted to leave right away, so I didn't have time to continue the conversation and just walked away. However, the more I think about what happened that day, the more upset it makes me. I sincerely hope I never experience something this unpleasant again. Glendale Galleria should do a better job of training its employees on how to interact respectfully with customers.
