This is the best rabbit rescue organization non-profit in Los Angeles. I adopted a rabbit from them and they have been incredibly supportive and are the most knowledgeable in Los Angeles. Please don't confuse them with other organizations that have treated you and/or your bunnies poorly. Other reviews I read were actually for another organization and this one doesn't deserve their negative reviews. I don't normally log in and make the effort to write reviews but they really deserve 5 stars. If you are reading reviews trying to find the right people to trust, it is Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation. My pets are my family and I trust Los Angeles Rabbit with what they need and trust them to adopt from.

This foundation is amazing! I found 2 bunnies that looked super cute and inquired. Kiara responded asap and we met up, and I got to see the bunnies in person. They guided me through bunny proofing my house and gave me a start up guide. The brought the bunnies over to my house the same week and helped me get set up as well as bringing litter and hay! Kiara stays in touch and continues to help with any questions I have. The one time adoption fee of $75/ bunny covers their spaying/neutering, microchipping, the bunnies even came litter trained!! Thank you, I love these guys!!!

Bunny featured many of the supplies that LARF provided me with when fostering: Pen, blankets, tarp, litter box, food, and litter!

I'm currently fostering a bunny and it's been wonderful! I'm new to bunnies but after a lot of research but hesitance to adopt, I found out that I could foster with LARF! They were super helpful and ready to help if I have had any questions. They've gone above and beyond to make themselves available, too. They picked a needy-but-sweet bunny for me to foster and it's been such a positive experience. I am really glad to help out the foundation (and bunny!) while making sure I can fit bunny-care into my schedule--although now I'd rather hang out with the bunny than do other things, haha. They really care about what they do and do what they can to make sure all their bunnies are well taken care of. Consider adopting or fostering if you can!

Outstanding... A wonderful group of people who truly care about the wellbeing of rabbits. I am so lucky to have found them. Michelle is so helpful and always there to answer my questions. Thanks to the LA Rabbit Foundation, I've been paired with some magical and loving bunnies. I'm so grateful for the tireless work they do rescuing and advocating for rabbits.

Princess up for adoption at Event held at Centinela Feed and Pets LA Saturday, October 14, 2017

My husband & I went to one of their events located at Centinela Pets LA. We brought our senior rabbit w/ us to get a nail trim & to take a peak to see if there were any possible candidates for him to bond with. I would like to give my honest feedback on pros and cons of this organization that we experienced. Our rabbit is quite tame. He doesn't nip or bite. He is older, 7 years. When it was our turn to get his nails trimmed. I could tell that some people were more knowledgeable than others. There was a young volunteer that started w/ his nail trim. He was quite anxious. She pet him to calm him down. That was nice. We bring him in regularly to the vet to get his nails trimmed. He has always been okay w/ the process. He was probably nervous today because of the different surroundings. Because since rabbits are characters of habit, sometimes new things stress them. So I wasn't upset or surprised. I understood his anxiety. He wasn't happy about being flipped over. He didn't kick, but was very wiggly. The volunteer had trouble w/ his trim. I also understand since he wasn't being the most cooroporative. Because of the difficulties, he was passed onto another volunteer. I don't actually think she was a volunteer. She seemed more as the organization head. She was very knowledgeable about rabbits. She trimmed his nails shorter because the last volunteer was nervous about getting to close to the quick & making him anxious. I appreciate both people, the younger volunteer for her mindfulness of my buns' anxiety & the lady for her wanting him to have nice short nails. They both took care in making sure they held his nails as they trimmed each one because w/ older rabbits, the nails can twist & shred. That made me happy. The lady flipped him to check his feet & glands. She commented that his feet were a bit dirty. My husband told her that he was just recently moved indoors. That's when my experience started to change. You could literally feel this energy radiate from the lady of her judgement on us for once having him outdoors. She asked what his litter box was like. I told her that we have him on a litter-less potty. She scowled at me. She then started to explain to me (in not a teaching tone) that they need hay & they eat more hay if you put it in their litter boxes, his feet are dirty from having a dirty potty & how cat litter is bad for rabbits. She told me a story about an owner that had her buns trained on a corner grated potty & how w/ splash back they had yellow bottoms. She pointed out that her albino rabbits that were adoptable were clean & white. She then commented on how my bun was shedding excessively. She stated that without hay to help move the fur through the digestive tract they can get blockages & die. She then stated that she's surprised he wasn't dead, since I don't have hay in his litter box. At that point I snapped out of my trance of not being able to believe this woman was attacking me to let her know that he does have unlimited supplies of Timothy hay and he does eat quite a bit of hay daily. Her response was that's probably why he's not dead and asked if I needed to purchase any hay. This situation made me feel victimized. I would like address a few things these people were unaware of. First the potty: yes, my rabbits are trained litter-less. This is not to say that their potty is a box w/ newspaper at the bottom. Their potties are a two tray system. There is a top tray that is concave that has a small grated area in the middle. Under that tray is secondary tray that has a potty pad. The urine travels down the grate onto the potty pad beneath keeps the poop on top & dry. We change the potty pad often & dump out the poop often. We do a vinegar scrub on the potty for deep clean monthly. Second living outdoors: this male bun has been bonded w/ a female since his adoption, September 13, 2011. They lived happily together in an area that was under a patio, away from the high sun & elements. Their living area was 300 sqft. These two buns were adopted after my original bunny. She did not live well or take on to bonding w/ the other 2. I tried many times to try to bond the trio & I couldn't get it to happen. My male became widowed on February 13, 2017. At that point I tried again to bond him w/ my other female large breed bun (8 years old). It just wasn't happening. So he remained alone. And my inside bunny remained alone. On September 22, 2017 my 8 year old female bun passed away at the hospital. They did everything they could to save her, but she had no more fight. W/no bun indoors, he was immediately brought inside to her area to live out his retirement. It was a bad experience I had from extreme judgment being placed on my husband & myself. I do not believe that this organization is bad in any way. I just wanted to share my experience with others so they can be aware that there is knowledge to be learned, but it might not be taught in the kindest way.

Thank you for introducing us to our little buns (aka: skippy). He fits in great with our little family and loves running around the house. His favorite place to sleep has become the foot of our bed and his favorite snack is cilantro. He follows us around the house and greets us by bumping our heels with his nose. He's a sweet boy that keeps us both busy and entertained.

I loved how when I came by here, there was a staff member reading books aloud to children. There were activities and lots of valuable teaching material. The dogs were also in a clean and wonderful environment. It was definitely a different atmosphere from dog shelters. You can see the care and comfort prioritized for them. We met "Greyson" at the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys and was scheduled to euthanized on 4/17 because of a condition called Enteopion, where the eyelids grow inward. So his lashes have been irritating his eyes his whole life. The surgery is expensive, we went home and did our research calling several Pitbull rescues. So many amazing people lead us to Mahkala, who is connected with PetSpace. We were then connected with Patricia was able to get the surgery approved, if we agreed to Foster to Adopt. She picked up Greyson from the pound and took him to get the surgery. We picked him up, and after 2 weeks of shepherding him through his healing, took him back to PetSpace to have his stitches removed. The only hiccups we've had was unclear communication at times. In dealing with several other folks via text, email, our valid and pertinent questions seemed to be more of an annoyance and not answering. "We don't have that info" or "It hasn't been updated in our system" were frequent answers to our inquiries pertain to the dog. The facility is wonderful, the store is pricy which was kind of surprising. I believe the people here know it's a special place. With a shy and anxious dog who is nervous of strangers and sometimes reactive to other dogs on leash, finding a trusted dog walker is no easy task. I found MMH on Yelp and gave them a call. As we still had a few walks scheduled with our previous walker, they even coordinated a time for Allison to join our old walker on one of their last visits and help our dog adjust to the change. Allison is amazing, and we are so lucky to have found her! She took the time to get to know and build trust with our dog. Our dog loves her, she sends the best photos and updates after each visit, and she really goes above and beyond to keep us informed of any concerns. We've worked with lots of great dog walkers over the years, but she is the best when it comes to communication. We have regularly scheduled weekly walking, but MMH has also always been able to accommodate our one-off requests. This is one of the benefits of working with a larger company. If we need a one-off walk, and Allison isn't available, MMH has always been able to find someone, and Allison regularly introduces our dog to other walkers so that there are multiple people who can fill in when needed. We included some background on our family and our lifestyle, and we heard back from Elizabeth the same day. In fact, she happened to be hosting a meet and greet with some of the dogs that afternoon at PetSmart in El Segundo. We drove down, met our future fur children, and fell in love. Elizabeth reiterated that they preferred to adopt them out as a pair, as they were brothers from the same litter and had bonded. We were already aware of this from the ASPCA description and we were amenable to adopting them as a pair. It's possible that the other applicants who were there and also smitten were later disappointed to find out that they could not adopt one of the brothers. To my knowledge we were the only applicants that did not want to split up the two dogs. In any case, we scheduled a home visit and final paperwork on the following Thursday. Microchipping, puppy shots, and neutering were included in the $350 adoption fee per dog. Charlie also had a pre-existing hernia that needed to be repaired at the same time as his neuter, and that was included as well. The vet Elizabeth partners with wasn't super local to me, but they were very kind and efficient. I honestly never had any trouble reaching Elizabeth, and we did not know her prior to adoption. She was always very professional and timely in her responses, and shows a genuine care for the safety and long term happiness of her rescues. I have no idea how her behind the scenes process works but I would understand if it wasn't purely based on "first come, first serve." I imagine her organization takes many factors into account including the individual temperament and special needs of the dog, an applicant's lifestyle, age, references and of course any prior history of trustworthiness with Elizabeth, etc. Adopting a dog is serious business and too many people allow their emotions to govern their decisions because they fall in love with the cute, cuddly puppy but forget that this animal will live for 10-15 years and that it's not cheap to feed, groom, insure and basically provide a lifetime of love and stimulation for this new family member. Too many of these poor animals end up back in foster care and rescue organizations because their family can no longer care for them and they now need to be re-homed. I suspect Elizabeth has developed a sixth sense for long term compatibility.
