I always give the benefit of the doubt to local businesses. This time I was very disappointed. I ordered a "Carne asada". It took a long time for my food to arrive. The look of the plate was pleasing to the eye but deceiving to the mouth; it was tough when I attempted to cut the meat. I told the waiter, and he offered to give me another piece of meat. It took 30 minutes for that second "carne asada" to arrive. It was the same except that this second meat had less fat. I did not eat it. I paid almost 30 dollars, including the tip. I will give this place a second chance and try its enchiladas or chilaquiles. But, for the moment, I would not recommend this place. read more

Went to Los Arcos on a Friday night and we were immediately seated. Service was incredibly slow. Learned our waitress was new so we were extra patient. Ordered guacamole for our appetizer, and it came out in a little bitty bowl - about 1 tablespoon! When we got our food, my moms flautas were greasy and overcooked, and my chicken fajita salad was soggy and missing ingredients (like guac!) The two things that tasted great were the salsa and the grilled/fajita chicken. It was also disappointing that my only option for an adult beverage was a beer. Ordered the Two and Two (chicken enchiladas with cream sauce and beef tacos). Was given chicken enchiladas with red sauce and the tacos were also chicken. The waitress couldn't understand the mistake so I just tried to eat it anyway. There was a huge lack of communication as no one spoke English. My sister ordered beef fajitas with double onions (no peppers) and extra sour cream. She got beef fajitas with onions and a separate bowl of chopped (raw onion) and no sour cream. We asked for salt several times and we're given packets of sugar every time. Down rating from 4 stars to 3. After the fire, every time we drive by its busy. We finally stopped in tonight. The interior is bright and new, but all the familiar faces are gone. We ordered the wonderful fajitas special for two. Our freshly made order of beef and chicken fajitas was on the table literally in 2 minutes. What? That's not possible. The iron skillet was bubbling hot, but the food was barely warm. Pre made and thrown on a hot skillet, maybe? The chicken was a little dry and not seasoned very well. They were nice enough to add plenty of gristle to the beef. Cheese and sour cream do not come with the fajitas. Cost extra. So disappointed. This is not the old Los Arcos. Me and my youngest daughter went to Los Arcos tonight. I haven't been there in a few years mainly because I don't get to that side of town too much. The service and food were wonderful. The host/cashier, Jerry, was so sweet. He chatted with us and was so friendly. My daughter even enjoyed visiting with him. I ended up getting my oldest daughter a to-go meal along with our 2 meals and appetizer. $48 was my total. I was pleasantly surprised considering the amount of food we got in the meals. We visited with a big group after Sing Song at ACU. Atmosphere: Bright and colorful. Mostly an open space with 4-person tables. Easy to accommodate large groups because of the ease of putting these tables all together. Overall, your average, old style Mexican restaurant. Nothing special. 1/2 Star Service: Sat us quickly as a group of 13. Our waitress, Erika, was fantastic. Even though she was completely alone with our table she never once let our drinks, hot sauce, or chips run dry. She took our orders promptly and every single one came out just as ordered. She was very pleasant and I would personally ask to sit in her area if I come back. 2 Stars Food: Hot sauce is very good. I like it hot and this one does a good job of that. Good chips as well. I like a thin chip and these were quite good. Queso is simply nacho sauce from your local Sam's club. The same kind u will get at a high school football game when u order nachos. The enchilada sauce I am quite sure also comes from a can. It is VERY orange and tastes like several other canned varieties I have had. It definitely didn't taste like a fresh sauce by any means. At least the enchiladas were hot. One of my main complaints is that the tacos (one crunchy and one soft) come with beef and a little bit of cheese. No tomatoes, no lettuce, no filler at all. The crunchy was anything but. It was quite soggy. The soft was probably a grocery store tortilla. That all being said, they are cheap. Almost every single meal on the menu is less than $10. Not a place I will likely return to unless I just happen to be with a group that wants to go there. 1/2 Star for price. My Rating System: Things have changed. I felt it was too easy to get 4-5 Stars so I will be giving out many more 1/2 Stars and basing my reviews on a 10 point system rather than 5. We used yelp to find a restaurant in Abilene. As most of the restaurants had similar reviews, we decided to go here. We had a party of nine and our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and humorous. If you go here, you should sit in Maria's section! Our food was delicious. We didn't feel it was overpriced and the portions were plentiful. For our party, they included a 15% tip automatically, and Maria deserved every penny. They serve lots of salsa (homemade!) and chips (also homemade!). Go here for a great meal! read more

9 of us went to Loc Arcos to celebrate our secretaries for administrative professionals day. We came in together after working together all day but were required to sit at separate tables due to social distancing requirements put in place by the restaurant. We were all fully vaccinated and boosted. Another group came in and moved tables (two of the men were open carry), and they were allowed to move tables so the groups could sit together. Los Arcos is a great place for lunch (I've never been there for dinner). It's a locally-owned restaurant and the people there are always friendly. The food is good, though not great. I'm spoiled. I'm from New Mexico and that food wins hands down over any TexMex. But, I like that Los Arcos cheese enchiladas aren't covered with Wolf Brand Chile (like some places here in town), but with a red chile sauce. The salsa and chips are good. It's a good place for a Mexican fix, but there are very few choices for vegetarians and nothing for vegans. But Abilene isn't exactly a vegetarian friendly place, so that's to be expected. read more

I really want to give every north side restaurant props but I just cant with this one. First time here I ordered the spinach enchiladas...thinking I would try something more light. I think it was one of the worst food choices I have ever made. It was like this, check it, think of putting a can of Popeye's spinach in a tortilla and rolling it up. Really good, large serving of hot sauce. Enjoyed the cheese enchiladas with a generous portion of white cheese in a corn tortilla smothered in a good red sauce and cheddar sprinkled on. Unnecessarily Huge portion of beans and rice. Chicken taquito was ok, the meat was quite shredded. Bean tostada was ok. Huge glass of tea means waitstaff doesn't need to visit as often. After 25 minutes and people all around us (who got there AFTER us) getting served and numerous complaints to waitresses, we walked out. Another couple walked out with us. We went in on Sunday March 19th at about 1pm. I am fully aware that they close at 2pm. We were told to wait to see if they could find a table. The waitress flagged us over to a table near the back. We sat down and they took our drink order. My mom told the person taking the drink order twice that she wanted a regular coke, they brought her a Diet Coke. When they finally brought her what she ordered it was a watered down version of a soda. Once the waitress finally made her way to the table we told her that the soda was watered down and she began to argue with my mother. She said that she was the only one to complain. We asked her to bring a new drink to the table and she returned about 15 minutes later with another soda. We waited over an hour for our food to be delivered to the table. I ordered the Mexican plate which had a beef enchilada, chicken flat and a bean tostada with a side of rice and beans. I tasted the enchilada first and the red sauce had a bitter flavor to it. The beans and rice lacked any flavor. The chicken flauta looked like it had been soaked in grease and tasted the same way. Needless to say we all left most of our food on the plate. The only shining moment in the entire meal was the hot sauce-it was great! We willl not be returning due to poor service and bad food. If I forgot to mention the waitress came to our table a total of 2 times, once to bring the drink and once to bring the food. It's always a beautiful site to see the entire wait staff standing at the hostess stand talking to each other instead of waiting on their customers.
