Another couple would not be talked out of us going for dinner here, which to us, it was a 2-star ugh! experience that was nine years ago. We were not thrilled, but off we went. It looked the same, but the menu was greatly expanded. Our waiter, Nicolas proved to make the experience a good one, far, far better than nine years ago. Margaritas also served to make it a good experience. They come in flavors and sized small, large and pitcher. We went large ($10) regular flavor. Nice servings and went down well. Given our previous bad experience we went with standard food offerings. Wife had enchiladas verdes ($13.99) which were served with rice and beans. She asked for diced onions to be cooked inside the enchiladas and they did so. I Went for chile verde ($16.99), which is one of my favorites. Pork chunks well simmered and soft in a green gravy. Contract with beef cooked likewise called chile colorado, another favorite. Served with rice and beans and tortillas. I specified flour tortillas but you can opt for corn tortillas. Without having to explain what it was I wanted, Chiles Toreados ($3.99) were actually listed on the menu. I receive my order of three jalapeno peppers that were very well done and sauteed onions surrounding them. This is a wonderful way to spice up your meals, especially the beans and rice that are pretty blah. This dinner make up for the one nine years ago, and we will be back. Food was not very good. None of us thought we got our money's worth. Waitress was never around to refill our drinks.

The chori pollo had no queso, it had literally one tablespoon of chorizo and the chorizo had the most awful seasoning! I think it was nutmeg My daughter's quesadilla was a soggy, tasteless mess. We stopped by on a whim, attempting to try a new place. The chips were horrible. Over fried, bland and begging for salt. The chorizo had a cinnamon or nutmeg taste to it that made it unappetizing. Hubby got the enchiladas and said they were okay. I tasted the ground beef filling and it was lacking seasoning (mainly salt). I ordered just rice and beans and I swear the rice was over cooked and again, everything had no seasoning. We would not recommend eating there but the drinks were good. read more

This place always has great service. They are always quick and happy to provide service. They have plenty of options to choose from. For my most recent visit, I had the Burrito Cancun with chicken (12 inch flour tortilla with grilled chicken or steak, melted cheese, topped with ranchero sauce, and served with rice and beans, $12.25). I'm always worried about places overcooking the chicken, but this place did it PERFECTLY. The chicken was so tender and juicy. It was a little salty, but balanced well when mixed with the rice and sauce. They also serve lunch specials here. read more

Went to Azteca's on Mother's Day and for a birthday celebration. What a great experience! No surprise the restaurant was busy since it was Mother's Day. They were able to get us in quickly and the service staff was so attentive and friendly. Hats off to them. Our server was Emmanuel and he was great! There were five of us and we ordered a variety of items. What I noticed right off the bat was how authentic the inside looked. No commercialization inside, except for Modelo advertising, which is nice to see. Inside decor seemed authentic. Starting with the Chicken Tacos Mexicanos made with corn tortillas. The key was squeezing the lime over the chicken that brought out a lot of flavor along with the fresh cilantro. The Arroz con Pollo was very good. The chicken was moist, and the dish had a cheeses dip cream sauce which was different but good. We had to order fajitas which didn't disappoint. Quesadillas are a standard but have you ever had a Hawaiian quesadilla? Incredible! Who thought pineapple would work in a quesadilla. Finally, the Carnitas Dinner was a home run. The pork tips were seasoned to perfection and extremely tender. Throw in some Mexican rice and a salad and you are all set. To finish the night, Emmanuel gave my wife a rose for Mother's Day and brought our table some complimentary cheese cake to sample. I went yesterday with my sister and they welcomed us nicely, as soon as we sat down I ordered tacos de asada that comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo and sour cream for $11.99 ; she ordered something else. I told the waitress that I didn't want pico de gallo or beans in my plate. He came back to ask me if I wanted beans because it comes with the rice and I told him no and because of that I wanted to change my order, I ask to get the same thing that my sister order he said ok left and came back like right away with the plates in hand. He handed me a plate with 3 tacos 2 pieces of lime and a sauce like not even the sour cream nor the rice. When we ask for the bill he charge $14.99 for the 3 tacos he could at east gave me the rice but just 3 tacos for that price feel is to expensive and I didn't get what I ask for completely, he gave me what he wanted. The tacos were a little bit salty by the time I got home I had a headache and today I woke up with stomach pain. Never going back. First off, Mexican, Spanish, Hispanic, and any/all foods in a similar category, are not my go-to. It has nothing to do with the restaurant, the people, or the cuisine itself, and everything to do with the cheeses and sauces. Keep this in mind when I say that Los Aztecas does the area a great service! They have a very typical menu for a Mexican restaurant. Most dishes come with refried beans, tortillas, and sour cream; but, at Los Aztecas I don't feel like the crazy American who doesn't appreciate their food. I've been to some Mexican restaurants where I feel unwelcomed for requesting less cheese or extra tortillas to help with the burn in my mouth. Here, that's never been the case. They have a dish, the Super Azteca, that comes with steak, chicken and shrimp, all grilled. The protein has been marinated in a lovely simple something and it comes with rice and tortillas. Literally, my perfect dish. Nothing crazy, nothing 'souper' saucy and no cheese! My cheese thing is a long story, but let's just say I eat cheese on pizza and that's about it. As for CoVid, Los Aztecas is very cautious. All are requested to wear masks to the table and the staff wear their masks at all times. The tables are cleaned and sanitized and the parties are separated with extra space for a larger group. It's a small space, but they accommodate as best as they can. My friend had eaten there recently and raved over the food and updated decor. So she invited us to give it another chance. Well, last night's meal was a last chance for this group. I ate all my meal which is unusual for me, but I realized I was looking for some flavor. Sadly, it was not to be found. Horrible experience and not the 1st time. Last visit was a mess and they gave us a voucher for a "free cheese dip" since they charged us for 2 and couldn't figure out how to remove it. We decided to give them another chance- BIG mistake! This time, one of our chimichanga arrived and was cold. After being warmed, when we cut into it, the chimichanga was chicken and not beef. We've been coming here for several years, but this is the first review I have written. Angie was absolutely phenomenal! Things were placed on the table before we ever asked or needed them (napkins, more chips & salsa). This has NEVER happened elsewhere and, we usually feel like we are being a nuisance for asking! It has been a while since we have come here and I don't remember the Taco Salad being so bland (few ingredients; Lettuce, Cheese, a slice of Tomato instead of Pico, no Guacamole or Avacado slices). This may be because I ordered Chicken Enchiladas in the past, but I don't remember honestly. I was sure kicking myself because I went back and forth for a while about which to order and definitely went the wrong way! Their Service made up for anything that could have ever gone poorly, Everyone there was friendly and others took great care of us, not only the waitress. I love the Margaritas! To a previous review, which stated that they are watery, I really like the consistency as this is the only Margarita I've been able to drink without getting brain freeze... We had lunch there today and it was delicious. We had the fajitas and chimichanga burritos. The salsa brought to the table is a little mild for our taste so just ask for a hot salsa and mix them together and it's perfect. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

I really love coming here. We try to make it a weekend thing- my best friend and I. There is one server though that everytime we come in she wants to rush us in and out. Asked us every 3 minutes if we were ready to order or not. We had to ask for a new server that time because we felt rushed. Or just like last night (I don't care if you're talking to your employees or not) she's rolling silverware and yelled "B*t*h" across the room. We were celebrating my best friends birthday too. It put a bad taste in everything as the servers weren't considerate and stood up for her that out of nowhere she's yelling curse words across the room while people are still in the restaurant. We really enjoy this place. It's close by our house and is convenient to get to. Booths are always clean and the chips are warm. The complimentary salsa tastes a bit fresher than at most places--seems like they at least jazz it up with some fresh cilantro. Just recently started visiting the Mexican joint after the one closer was shut down to make way for Wal Mart Neighborhood Market. Several of the same people work here that worked at the one at the Dobys Bridge and Tom Hall location. Very good prices, nightly drink specials, and food has been consistently good. This is your typical Mexican restaurant for this area, but there are a few authentic items not on the menu such as the Mexican tacos, meat, cilantro, onions, lime and sauce to add. Ok so as much as I don't want to admit it ive been here 3 days in a row. I have been working in ft mill for about 8 months now and the only "Mexican" option is Qdoba.....not saying theres anything wrong with them I go there too buuuttttt I pretty much live for my next meal at a Mexican restaurant (hence me eating there 3 days in a row) Now granted even if they weren't good this would probably still be my go to place on my breaks but lucky for me they are awesome!! This was definitely my big win for the week as I was getting pretty sad about my options in the area. But on to the food of course! So far I have had the fajitas, the tacos (chicken and beef) and a taco salad... All things amazing! like leave to go back to work feeling like I cant survive because I stuffed my face amazing. Everything is SO fresh! the fajitas have the classic onions tomatoes and peppers but also mushrooms which I don't like but I can work around them so its cool. The chicken is perfectly marinated and cooked and the taco salad was great because the lettuce was so amazingly fresh and crispy ( I am a lettuce freak it has to be at its freshest). Also the service there is outstanding! everyone is so friendly and everything came out quick. They get busy for lunch from what ive seen as they have a pretty big lunch menu that runs until 3 pm and 2.99 margaritas all day ....... Yes you read that right 2.99 MARGARITAS ALL DAY and they DONT SUCK to be honest they were pretty tasty! They have plenty of parking as they are part of a shopping center.
