So this place is no (or maybe always has been) owned by the same people as Tony's Cantina in Rock Hill. I noticed because the menus are the exact same pictures and items (this includes the grammatical errors and typos) as Tony's. I ask and my server, Issac?, said he thinks so but wasn't sure. So how does it compare? Well for starters the salsa was not good in any way. It tastes like Bloody Mary mix or tomato sauce. Zero spice either. Much like the only other time I came here several years ago, there was no bartender working so for my drinks it was a couple of guys trying to figure out how to make them. They tasted alright but I'm not completely convinced that they are what I orderedbut the 2nd one was strong AF! My main meal, Texas Rice, was super bland and I am pretty sure the rice was bagged like Uncle Bens or something but the dish was ok. Not the worst but not the best (better than a few years ago). Issac was amazing! Best server in ages and very happy to chat and get to know. It's people like him that make the rest of the experience worth it. So is it better than Tony's? Went back to Margaritas with another couple who love this place. My wife and I think it could do much, much better with the food and erratic service. We were proven right with an inattentive waitress who focused almost entirely on a table of 8 v ours of 4. They excel in Margaritas with at least 8 versions swirling about in their ready to serve containers. Mango is our favorite. Food is just so blah. I even ordered some grilled jalapeno peppers, which was something they do not regally do, and I received a small pile of jalapeno bits, oily and they did not make much difference in delivering flavor to blah-ville. The drinks are always on point--delicious and awesome to look at. The vibrant paintings and decor give off a lively, fun vibe. The food is flavorful and presented soooo creatively--it really stands out! ...and, boy, do they do a good job of highlighting a birthday! They have a funny face-in-hole sign and a giant sombrero and a free sweet treat and the staff comes out singing. This was a great spot for dinner. Expansive food and drink menu. Our server asked my friend with a toddler if she wanted to order the kids food first since the rest of us were undecided -- which was so kind! Genuinely the worst service I've ever had. My family and I came in for lunch today. We have been coming here for years but stopped a while ago because of the service and price increases. We had a somewhat younger lady as our server who couldn't refill anything or come to the table at all. She kept going to the bathroom and going to the kitchen for long periods of time so I'm not sure what's going on there. We ended up ordering some guacamole and queso and end up getting that with no chips and had to wait forever on that. Thanks. We had to flag down the bartender to get our chips and drinks and we appreciate his help. We then ordered and had one of our meals entirely missing. She claimed it was the cooks fault for not seeing the order but I think she didn't write it down. Very cool blaming mistakes on the kitchen staff who actually works and makes great food. All in all I will never come back here and the disrespect from this lady was comical. Every person who has ever stiffed her made the right decision. To give someone more salsa than queso for an entree order of chicken and cheese nachos is absolutely crazy. I waited 20 mins for them to put some chips cheese and chicken in a bag (all already made) and they brought me out this sad display in the pics below. The cheese is what I'd expect if I ordered a small side of queso and when I poured it on top barely covered the chips they gave me. I asked for more cheese and they literally refused. It's NACHOS. The cheese is kinda the point. I'm not sure when they started deciding to scam people but I'm so glad I looked in my bag. They refused to give me a proper portion so I had to get my money back. So I've found my new spot to get GREAT Mexican food. We've debated so many times about trying this restaurant when we visited the movies or ended up and another establishment close by. So glad we tried it tonight. We called and learned that reservations are only accepted during the week but surprised when we were told there wasn't a wait for a party of four during prime time on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly and in our preferred area in the outdoor covered area. It was super windy on the night we went and our server, Monica, lowered the screens. And Monica was amazing, by the way. She had the sweetest energy and took great care of our giggly party of four. I selected the seafood enchiladas because I've never seen that on a menu. I will get it EVERY single time I come. It was amazing. I declined the avocados because they aren't my thing. The enchiladas are stuffed with well-seasoned shrimp. You get two sides with it and I selected refried beans and rice. They were both amazing and the cheese sauce was really good, too. I wish there had been just a bit more. They have several flavors of margaritas for the restaurant's name sake. Tomorrow is my birthday so we probably over indulged with various flavors at the table: mango, peach, plain and I can't remember what else. This place adds a fee to your dinner bill if you decide to pay with a credit card. They also add an additional fee for take out orders. Be careful. The food itself is a delicious and the service was great. The portions were massive, and everything comes out really quick. It might even be too quick, to be honest. This place is seriously good. The four of us dined here tonight and we were very impressed. The salsa is perfectly hot but not too hot. The chips were warm. We had a cheese sauce with sausage for our chips that was excellent. A smoky flavor. Big chunks of sausage. The pollo rancheros was perfectly cooked with homemade tortillas. They made me feel awkward when I walked in with no hostess and I wanted to ask if I could have my dog on the patio they said yes and This was the best part of the meal. Chips and salsa was mediocre and not authentic at best. My quesadilla was soggy and inedible. The "avocado salad" was bad. The black beans were abysmal. The service was ok and the patio was really nice ambiance but the food was just so bad. They need to focus less on thrills of the weird presentations and contraptions they present the food on (Mexican street corn on a torturous device????) and just make a decent quesadilla and chips and salsa. I've been going to this location since 2021... it's always an amazing experience. The food is always 10/10. The service is always 10/10, no matter who's our host or server. The atmosphere is always upbeat and friendly! The decoration is so beautiful on the inside and on the patio. Also, if you want to sit on the patio while it's cold outside, you can because they have heaters that blow really hot air! The music is a bit louder on the patio but that's the only downside. We went last night and it was packed! The food was still amazing, the service was still amazing and we felt catered to. I recommend this location, don't go to another one! The service was bad they got my daughters order wrong forgot part of my sons. The waiter was only seen a couple of times other people took his place so maybe something was going on. I asked for no raw onion got it anyway. My daughter said her food tasted reheated. Mine was mediocre at best. Then they charged us a $4.71 non cash fee. I mean seriously. I've seen discounts for using cash but not fees for using your card.... I will not be coming back to this establishment this was the second chance but it was horrible. I had been here before and the experience was good. This time I might have been better off with fast food. We ordered the table side guacamole and queso for the chips. The we had the ceviche and the bacon wrapped shrimp for the meal. The guacamole must have been made at somebody else's table because they just came with bowl half filled. The ceviche was all salsa with some sliced shrimp. The whole magic of the ceviche is letting the acid from the citrus "cook" the shrimp. These shrimp chunks were hard and rubbery. Definitely cooked before hand and then refrigerated. Blah. The bacon wrapped shrimp was unreal awful. I can only guess that the shrimp were first cooked and then wrapped in bacon and them thrown in the oven and left there to die. They came out as little brown nuggets and tasted so burned and acrid I could only have one before sending the dish back. The atmosphere was cheerful and the staff weee super friendly though. This place is so bad I wish Yelp had negative stars available. The worst restaurant I have been to in my life. I can't believe people actually come back here and they stay in business. The food here is completely inedible. Do you like soggy quesadillas? Or maybe you prefer cold rice? Or maybe you want terrible service? If all the bad food and rude service isn't enough you than see your bill at the end of your meal. How expensive this place is for such a shithole restaurant. Just don't come here.
