I had almost forgotten about Los Barriles until my husband mentioned Mexican coffee this evening! We were dining elsewhere and took the short walk to Los Barriles for their spectacular show of making Mexican coffee. It did not disappoint and I highly recommend them for dinner (table side grilled steaks...hello?!?) and one of the only restaurants that prepares Mexican coffee "old school"!! I went here for a family dinner. Our reservation was very large, so I assumed that we had most of the place to ourselves (around 20 of us). There was also another smaller party that was here and had been drinking. We had many children and infants with us, and they were upset by the rowdiness of the other group and the loud music that they group was playing. On top of this, the salad course was not served until more than an hour after we were seated, and they made the salad in front of us in about 10 minutes. The food overall was ok with the portions being on the smaller side, but the service just took way too long. The waiters also did not keep track of who wanted what and gave many of the guests the wrong order, making us switch around our plates. Also not sure if this is just because we were a large group, but they did not offer us drinking water and we had to buy water by the bottle from them. read more

Service was fine, but they tried to get over on us on their portions, and their prices were by far the most expensive of anywhere we ate despite the food being just mediocre. Save yourself ALOT of money and get what you pay for by going next door to Maro's shrimp house. We were in Cabo last week on a cruise and knew the only reason we needed to get off the boat was to find the place where we've had Camarones Imperial so many times. Sadly, the place we used to get it has changed hands is now John's, which had nothing we wanted. We asked two locals for a recommendation and wound up at Los Barriles. A waiter at one place we were checking out sent us here! We HAD to have what I call the Jewish Trifecta: Jumbo shrimp, stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon and grilled. We got exactly what we wanted, it was delicious and we also had tableside guacamole (also delicious), nice cold beer and an awesome waiter who kept us entertained and hydrated the entire time. read more

Every time we are in Cabo we have to come here. They have the best seafood, appetizers, Caesar salad, cocktails, and dessert. While we were here Kevin and Seraphim played their guitars and sang for us. It is an outdoor restaurant. The help was wearing their masks and gloves. My mother and I had just arrived in town and needed a quick meal before heading to the marina. Off the beaten path spot in Cabo San Lucas. Service was on point but we were also the only people in the restaurant. Drinks were good, some of our party of 9 ordered wine and enjoyed it. They knew what a Kettle soda was. The Caesar salad made table side was amazing. Heard no complaints on the tortilla soup. Mains were disappointing. The sea bass in white wine sauce was undercooked and seemed frozen. My t-bone looked like it was boiled (pale brown, no flavor, very thin). Table side prepped lobster ended up tough (signs of not being fresh). Nice staff and owner but I would have to say there must be better places. read more

Based on food and service alone, I'd say it would be a solid 4 to 4.5 stars. However, they added another 16% charge to the bill, referring it as an "IVA tax". As I am sure you've seen, IVA is INCLUDED in all restaurant prices everywhere else in Cabo San Lucas so this practice of Los Barriles appears to be questionable at best. Avoid this place - or you will leave feeling you've been taken advantage of. read more

We came here because our taxi driver from downtown recommend this place to us. He gave us a card with his name it and voucher saying that we were going to get first round of drinks on the house. Finding the place wasn't hard, it is near downtown but not close to the beach. The place was pretty small and there was a menu outside to peek at. The head kitchen chef outside explaining the food options and all. We decided to give it a try and with free round of drinks why not right? We got seated and given menus. Our waiter took our drink order and I look over at who is prepping the drinks and it is a kid that, I kid you is not older than 16 years old. (Granted I am aware that this Mexico and they don't care about underage people dealing with alcohol but I wanted a good margarita) as you can imagine, my drink tasted water with some strawberry flavor - GROSS! The food wasn't good either. I ordered steak fajitas and they took forever to come out and I expected so much more from this place. The desert was probably the only thing that was decent about this place. This place has potential but the drinks were awful, the food could have been better and service was slow. If this place was in U.S. it would be out of business so maybe it's a good thing that it is in Mexico. Go and try if you dare! :X read more

I absolutely love this place! We ended up here by accident, but are lucky to have found it! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is upscale yet very comfortable. The owner and employees are funny, kind and welcome you in as part of the family. Every little thing they do is to make sure you're having a good time. My family went here a few years back when my niece was only 6 weeks old. She was a handful and crying most of the time. The owner's wife came by and offered to hold her while we ate. It was such a kind gesture and made the experience that much better. Honestly, she stopped crying quickly there after and everyone was at peace. This year we went back again with the family, a few of which were young kids. They did just about everything they could to make everyone happy including bringing the kids meals early so they didn't have to wait around, and they brought out blankets when the wind started up to keep them warm. Any request we had, they fulfilled! All this and we still got to enjoy table-side dishes cooked right there and beautifully mixed drinks. The very next day, my fiance and I went back just the two of us and had the most wonderful and romantic dinner. There was live music playing and the musician was amazing, singing anything from italian opera to jazz to pop songs to authentic mexican songs, but all low key and classy to fit the mood. The meals were delicious and the table side presentation was on point with a fiery flambe! The owner and his son stopped by at various moments to check in, treating us like we were family. Not to mention sitting down with us and taking a shot of tequila! They are so laid back but professional. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Skip the tourist traps, go straight to Los Barriles! This restaurant is about a 15 minute walk from the dock, near several better known restaurants. They have 2 menus; the first is the colorful, more expensive tourist menu, with entrees from about $15 to $30. Make sure you get the second plainer one. It lists numbered entrees on one side in Spanish, the other in English. The Spanish side is more descriptive. Prices are in pesos, so find out the exchange rate first. Our absolute favorite was the Chile Relleno and Flank Steak, for about $14. Best flank steak ever! Relleno was incredible as well. Definitely had a bite. Full bar, cold beer. One thing I love about Cabo is that good value can be found just a short walk away fro the main drag. This restaurant is proof of that. We were looking for a place to have breakfast, and just happened upon this place. We were not disappointed. Not only was the food inexpensive, it was darn good, too. We had coffee, pancakes, and oatmeal. The coffe is made with the slightest hint of orange peel, and a dash of cinamon. After that, it doesn't need any cream or sugar. It was nicely done so that the flavors complimented the coffee instead of over-powering it. Both dishes, the pancakes and the oatmeal, came with freshly sliced fruit that was indeed fresh. It was flavorful, and a nice way to breakfast. The pancakes were three, evenly sized, and perfectly cook hotcakes. Beautiful. My wife had the oatmeal, which they will prepare either with milk, or with water. You just have to give your preference. This is a little, covered, outside bar, but the food and service are outstanding. The entire meal, including tip, was less than $20 American. We loved it, and highly recommend it, even though it is a short walk from the marina. read more
