    Tableside guacamole

Tiny place just off the beach. Table side guacamole is a cant miss. Beer is cheap - almost as cheap as soda. Kids menu available. Fish tacos and shrimp tacos were the best we have had so far. We may go back second night this week.

I can always count on my hubby Tom S. to dig up a new eatery to try that is well worth the money! La Catrina has great service, a great menu selection, good atmosphere, and decent prices. My selection was the trio of shrimp tacos and while it was good, the primary ingredient seemed to be way too much cheese, so I couldn't finish my order. Hubby loved his Chili Relleno and based on his experience with this dish, we definately will be going back to La Catrina on our annual December trip to Cabo. Give this place a try, I think you will really like it!

Great quality, fair prices, and by the public beach! First impression: It was a little hard to find at first because it isn't actually on sidelines of the beach. It is right off the roundabout where people get dropped off. We went at night and just got valet parking (not sure how crowded the surrounding would be during the day). Menu impression: Then we got to look at the menu, and many seafood options, steak option, and traditional Mexican food fairly priced! (As compared to its competitors along the shoreside) Food impression: The food was very delicious, we ordered the tuna steak, Pacific shrimp, carnitas, and a traditional plate. Tuna steak was very very peppered but the flavor was AMAZING!! **Also something unique about the restaurant is that they set their food on fire with tequila!!!!! We ordered a Flaming Cheese and Mexican coffee (MUST ORDER) Staff impression: The waiters that served us the flaming foods were SOO kind and loved that we enjoyed the show! Very sweet and kind. We will be coming back for sure when we visit Cabo!

Based on others' reviews,we decided to try La Catrina. We have passed this place numerous times on our way to The Office, Baja Brew Co and Mango Deck. Parking was easy as Jose , our waiter, told the policies that my car was OK to park along te yellow marked street. We had both white and red wines, as well as a Mai Tai. All were delicious. I had the coconut shrimp and Rib Eye. Wifey had the lobster enchiladas. We also ordered the FLAMING CHEESE made table side. So delicious! To be a bit critical, the shrimp was bit over breaded with coconuts. The lobster over-sauced. Didn't stop us from devouring our meals. Finished with chorus and ice cream Service was great, food came out a bit slower than I like but overall a great experience.

The food is the best, and the service is wonderful... what a great view If u try this place you need the flaming cheese!!!

Skip the more well known places for this little gem. Great service and loved the food. My husband got the special of the night which was shrimp Rockefeller. It was delicious. I got a shrimp dish. I cant remember the name of it, but it was lobster in corn tortillas with a sauce over it served with rice and beans. It was also very good. They had this awesome looking melted cheese fondue thing that we did not order because we were not super hungry, but it looked amazing. If I ever go back, I am getting that. They did a lot of flambe stuff while we were there and that was cool. The margherita was the size of a fish bowl, lol! And, for dessert we got the churros and they were amazing!!! The best part was how friendly the service was.

Ok so we ventured off our resort in search of good Mexican food and la catrina delivered! We walked the beach from breathless (marina) and it was about a 15 min walk.. it wasn't very busy inside but it was a Wednesday night.. we got the flaming cheese, I had the Mexican combo and my husband got the pork carnitas. It was very good!! Bill was 70 some USD but totally worth it after eating all inclusive resort food :) great service. Oh yes! Get the churros for dessert so yum!

Decided to stop here on the way to the beach for breakfast and we were glad we did as the breakfast was amazing. The food was fresh and the service was great. I had the steak and eggs and my wife ha the oatmeal and it was just perfect. The mango Belini's were delicious. Will be back again.

My friends and I came across La Catrina on our way to Medano beach, we were starving and they were readily available so we decided to give them a try with no prior research. We were seated right next to the steps from the sidewalk with a view of the bustling beach in the distance. Food: Pretty decent! I ordered the enchiladas con pollo, the menu stated it is a choice between red or green sauce, they never asked and I was served green sauce. The dish was very appealing and I was not disappointed. The rest of the table got al pastor tacos and a cheese quesadilla. The tacos were rudimentary, tiny meat and tortilla tacos with minimal toppings....pretty uninspired. The cheese quesadilla on the other hand was stuffed full of the delectableness that is CHEESE! Drinks: So unbelievably watered down! My first beverage was a fruity mix drink, so I wasn't surprised that I didn't taste any of the alcohol. My 2nd drink was just a basic vodka tonic.. not a single hint of alcohol. I informed the server that it does not appear there was any liquor in the drink. He took it back to the bar and a few moments later brought it back. The level in the glass didn't appear to remotely increase so I am not sure if they even added anything, especially since it didn't taste any different. Cost: The bottled water was $4 US per bottle, we spent over $30 just on water during our lunch! The cocktails were $9 + per beverage... about normal for a bar/restaurant but considering they didn't have any alcohol in them, highly disappointing and costly. Other than that, the food was a decent price and just a tad above average for most restaurants in Mexico. Service: Slooooow. It was difficult getting our servers attention in general just to be able to order or request anything additional. Major lag time in taking our order, drinks, food and even the final check. Actually took a lot of time just to get change after we paid. Good thing we were not in a hurry. Would I go back? Maybe, but I definitely want to check out the multitude of restaurants in the area fist.

But that was the end of the positive things as a swarm of flies quickly came to eat the food. Trying to swat them away helped a bit but there was way too many of them. I eventually flagged a waiter down, and he shrugged at the flies. A minute later some candle flame thing came out saying that it will help with the flies but already that was too late as flies were all over the food and I lost my appetite at that point. It was disgusting. I just got up and left. Went to cashier to pay my bill. The cashier also shrugged at my fly incident, and I asked how much it was going to be. Full price. No consideration about bad operating environment and since they knew about the fly issue they didnt setup before food was served to control it better. Even after bringing it up again in detail, she shrugged again. No sorry or anything, just a brush off. Then to make it even worse she asked if I wanted to tip the service. I was in there for a few minutes, staff didnt help quickly or even pre-empt the fly issue, and I'm being asked to pay full price. Sorry but no thanks. How did this place get on the Michelin list? Service poor. Environment poor. Zero or negative star rating for me.
