Going through Amarillo, this is a great authentic Mexican quick stop. Queso was on point with cheesy to creamy ratio, with over the top seasoning. Poblano peppers were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and spices to enhance the meal. The shredded chicken enchiladas were juicy and flavorful and the cream sauce was spectacular. We love good Mexican food. For starts we love chips and salsa. Good salsa! This place has very good salsa. Not too spicy but has a good kick. The wait staff was good and kept up with drinks and chips/salsa very well. We ordered beef soft tacos and fajitas (shrimp). Both were very good. The plate was very large and portions were too. The beef in the tacos were a bit greasy. The rice was great! The shrimp fajitas were awesome. Maybe some of the best I have had. I would definite recommend. These two dishes have remained our go to dishes. Also they have specials and you can get a great meal for not a lot your money. read more

Was our first time at this place and not impressed at all are beans were dry you can tell they put them in the microwave to heat them up.

After googling best nachos in Amarillo and reading that this place had one of the nation's top 20 nachos I had to try it. Now my husband and I along with my dog were taking a day trip to Cadillac Ranch so we couldn't eat inside with a dog. So we stopped by and ordered the nachos con carne and a chili rellano to go and waited in the air conditioned entry way. They packed everything to go so nicely and still gave us chips and salsa. We sat in our air conditioned car and ate it (the things we do for our pets) and it was AMAZING! The nachos were the best I had and being from California I can say I've had some good nachos and the chili rellano was perfect! Definitely worth the trip from OKC! read more

I ordered their Crispy Taco plate to go, today at lunch from Ms. Larisa. My food was ready in under 5 minutes and they gave me chips and salsa to go, which was nice. Got back to work and opened up the food and it was GREAT!. Their Charo beans include fresh dices onions, tomatoes, beef taco meat and jallepeno peppers. Having just moved here, I noticed the parking lot full, or mostly full every time I drive by. I asked for suggestions from the waitress and decided on a Plato Oaxaca, a poblano stuffed with white fish and shrimp with a spicy sauce, it came with fantastic refried beans, rice and salad. I couldn't find a listing for the El Bracero that is on 6th St. (Rt.66)- that is really the one to go to! Great food and a great atmosphere! This place gets BUSY on the weekends with live music, cheap margaritas, and authentic Mexican food. Not really the place to go on a date if you want to actually have a conversation though because it can be super loud. Cabrito tacos are tasty and their salsa is unique and delicious! read more

We kinda felt like outsiders when we walked in - like we had no idea what to do. We ordered some takeout since we felt so awkward and took it home. While passing through Amarillo a year ago, my husband and I discovered this restaurant quite by accident. Now, whenever we pass through Amarillo, we eat here. Being a native Texan, a military wife for 21 years, and a current resident of Colorado, I've learned through experience Tex-Mex should not be mistaken for authentic Mexican cuisine. It is a specialty unto itself and it's generally not found anywhere else but Texas. That being said, El Bracero has some of the BEST Tex-Mex cuisine I've ever experienced. The Pollo Yucatan is AMAZING and the salsa has just the right amount of bite. We look forward to passing through Amarillo again! read more

I only do reviews for vegan food. I asked them to make me a veggie chimichanga and how much would it be. The gal said not much since it has no meat, sour cream or cheese. She came back and reluctantly said it would be $9.75. There were so many meat dishes on the menu for $7.99. I asked what it would take to get in the the $7.99 range and she had to ask. She came back and said if they drop the guacamole, it would be $6.99. Really? Sounds like they are trying to rip off the vegan customer. Guess what? I know that veggie options are cheaper for the restaurant to serve. Therefore, when people try to charge me more for veg, I disregard them. I walked out and did not eat there. I suggest you do the same to this restaurant if you eat vegan. read more

Best Mexican food here in Amarillo. I can't tell you how many times my roommates and I CRAVE this place. The atmosphere is friendly, and the food is just excellent. No matter what you order, enchiladas with fajita beef, chicken, smothered burrito, burrito dinner, cheese enchiladas, tacos.. anything! Order it all, try it all. It's fan-damn-tastic! The portions are HUGE and I can guarantee that you will have leftovers. We love their green sauce (it's green chiles ...nice and SPICY). Their chips and salsa always hit the spot and we could probably eat tubs of this stuff... Love love love this place. read more

I stopped here for the first time last night as I drove from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City, and I ordered a chile relleno burrito to go. This was the best burrito I have had in years which, for a guy who grew up in Southern California and married into a Mexican family, is saying something. It's a tiny place, my server was very nice, and they agreed to make me the burrito even though it isn't on the menu. I make this trip several times a year, and this is my new pit stop. read more
