The short blonde lady either has dementia or two rocks for a brain. She messed up our order twice and tried to argue back when we told her to fix it instead of fixing her mistake. I ordered the cóctel de camarón And she brought me a shrimp taco and tried to TELL US that's what I ordered. When I finally got the cóctel the shrimp was hard and overcooked. I ordered a quesadilla for my son and it was a greasy mess. We also ordered an order of rice and she did not bring it out and still put it on our bill. A waste of $90. read more

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food here has a good flavor. I always get the Pollo Fundido. It's kind of like an open ended chimichanga, but I like it better. So many of the Mexican restaurants have a watered down, tasteless queso, not this place! Even the side of beans is good, not thin and soupy. The Flan is the BEST! Give it a try. Amazing food! Burritos are my hands down favorite. They are all so nice and pleasant as well! I always order to go so I've never sat inside. Only reason why it's not 5 stars is the salsa. This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant but now it's not. We haven't been here in a while. when we asked for more chips, they said that it's going to cost extra. We were like, WTF?!?!? We didn't get any more chips It will cost extra for more chips!!! They also don't do the punch cards any more. I had the chicken soup. The chicken in the soup has always been tough & this time was no different. It was good flavor but I didn't eat the chicken Hubby had the half order of Steak fajita nachos. Los Cuates is a consistent spot for Mexican food, I know what I'm gonna get. I think it's pretty decent but not mindblowing. Service is fine, however, I feel there's always been a bit of abrasiveness and the "coupons" they offer had been denied at first, making it embarrassing for both myself and them since they shouldn't offer them if they can't figure out what they're for... Los Cuates is an east side gem! There is something for everyone and any mood you are in. It is an inviting atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The food always comes out quick, whether you're dining in or taking out. It is also affordable especially considering the large portions, and always comes with free chips and salsa. They have some of the best salsa I've had. And the queso is great too. I recommend the arroz con pollo, chicken tortilla soup, chicken chimichangas, and the flan! Lots of space and get sat quickly. RUDE STAFF. I have been going to this place for 25 years- always loved it. The last two times, the staff have been incredibly rude. Went tonight at 8:33 pm. Told us the kitchen would close in 15 minutes, so we needed to order food. We did. We hadn't finished our food, and they said we needed to pay as they were closing at 9 am. We were trying to finish our meal, and at 9:13, the waitress informed us that we had to leave because the restaurant was closed. Told them we were almost finished and that I had never been to a restaurant where I was told to go like that - 13 minutes after closing. He said we had to leave. "It is very late." I would understand if we were sitting there for an extended period, but it was 13 minutes after they "closed," and we were still trying to eat and put our food in containers. Last time, my friend thought she had left her purse at home. I called - they said no, it was not there. I asked if they could check. He said no --he would not do that -- and I should not accuse him of not checking. My friend then found her purse, and I said, "Never mind, she found it, sorry to be a bother." He then called me rude and said I should not have asked him to check. I reminded him that I had said I was sorry and acknowledged that I was wrong. He said, "You should have." read more

Was a little weary going in but decide to give it a try. We had 6 people, 4 people ordered beer and it was ice cold. Service was fast with and the food came out in good time. We got 2 orders of nachos, 2 number 13's, arroz con pollo and the burrito asada. Not one complaint from anyone. The food was hot and delicious. read more

I don't frequent this area but I was out for business and a co-worked said they had good food. I was a little taken aback by the shape of the building. It looks like something you would see while watching and old sci-fi movie so I was skeptical about eating here. It's a circular building and the floor plan was a little funky but cool. The ladies who run this place are really nice and service is fast. I had lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and although the place was pretty packed it wasn't noisy or had an overly crowded feel. We tried this local favorite tonight for carryout & were pleasantly satisfied. I ordered 3 chorizo tacos & my boyfriend ordered 3 of the al pastor tacos. We opted to not get the sides of rice & beans. The order came with complimentary tortilla chips & 2 little salsas as well. The salsa was crazy hot so be prepared! Both of our taco orders contained 3 MASSIVE tacos stuffed to the brims. They definitely did not skimp on the fresh ingredients! Everything was so delicious! The menu picture made them look amazing however they came with the tilapia broken apart and looking weary. The fajita mix was good but tomato doesn't grill well. We've been to Los Cuates three times now. And every time it gets better. The first time we went, everyone except me loved it, so the fact that it's getting 4 stars from me says a lot, kids. Drinks: I was happy to see Modelo Negra of draft here, as it's my favorite beer. The only thing that could make it better is if the mug they served it in was frosted. I have yet to try their margaritas. I know. I know. I live for margaritas. But I couldn't pass up a large mug of Modelo. G got a pineapple Jarritos and she loved it. We've had Jarritos several times, but she loved having it with her meal. Food: The chips and salsa were brought to our table quickly - 1 basket, 1 small carafe, and 4 small dishes. The thing about the chips and salsa here is that you have to pay for refills. I kind of see this as a public service. There is no way I'm paying for extra salsa. Not now way, not no how. And limiting what they give complimentarily, saves us from gorging on free stuff and allows us to have enough room to enjoy our meals. My daughter thinks it's stupid. I'll let you be the judge. E got her usual quesadilla with rice and beans and she CLEANED HER PLATE. That takes talent. She rarely eats EVERYTHING, so this is huge for us. G got the half order of the bean nachos and loved them. This is actually what I ordered the first time and didn't like them, but to G, they were perfect. C went for the chimichanga lunch special. He usually gets the seafood chimichanga (and raves about them), but when he saw the special, he went for it. That was his mistake. He was wanting the seafood the whole time, but was lured in by the price tag of the chicken. He said it wasn't bad, but he preferred the seafood and will stick with that in the future. I got the half order of the shrimp fajita nachos and they were AMAZING. I'm a huge fan of fajitas, but I don't like paying that much and these nachos deliver a really similar flavor in a nacho disguise. And it works. The nachos are messy, but they should be. Service: I'm kind of torn here. They seem to forget something every time we come here, have made mistakes with our bill, and they could be more attentive. But it's not awful. They seem to want to do well, they just may need more experience. And they could pay closer attention to the details. But it honestly didn't take away from our experience that much. TL;DR: The food here is great, the decor is festive, and the drinks are large. What more could you want? read more

I am sorry for the low rating but I will not give any restaurant higher than a three if the employees, and in this case the ?Manager? too, are not wearing their masks properly. It should cover your mouth AND your nose. So it's not a safe environment. Take your chances as you choose but I won't be back. This says to me that my health is not important to them and makes me wonder what other things that they may or may not be doing that could affect my health. Now to the food. The food was actually pretty good. While the pics and descriptions do not exactly match what comes out to the table, there were some good bites. With some small tweaks, the food here could be very good. For example, I ordered carnitas which had very good flavor, but did not come to the table crispy as they are described in the menu. Just a toss into the fryer and these carnitas could've been excellent. My husband ordered the seafood fajitas which were also pretty good. However, tomato should not be included because it becomes a shriveled wet mess on a fajita plate. Forget the lettuce and give the patrons a healthy portion of pico de gallo to go with both of these dishes. The Choriqueso was good and the chips come out nicely warmed! Our first visit. Nice that they were open and offered all their menu items for lunch after church. The service was fast and friendly. The outside of the building looked "sketchy", as my daughter put it, but it was surprisingly clean, cute and roomy on the inside. Salsa and chips brought very quickly and I like that they give everyone at the table their own empty, little bowl and the salsa is in a mini carafe so you can pour your own salsa. The tacos I ordered were loaded with meat and the server didn't forget to ask if I wanted the cilantro and onions on top. While I LOVE cilantro and onions, no one in my family does so it is nice to be asked! The carnitas in my tacos was cooked perfectly! I was so full after my first taco, I opted to bring the other two home but not until I tasted the carne asada in one of the other tacos and it was perfectly cooked! Nothing wanting here. As for the chicken and ground beef Chimichangas my family had, they loved them! Lots of meat, good beans and rice and plenty of refilled soda glasses. My mother and I were disappointed in the presentation of the food and the overall taste. I ordered for her the enchiladas Mexicans. There was very little seasoning and sauce on the chicken. The food was very bland. I ordered a seafood enchiladas but asked for the shrimp to be left out of the order. Of course the shrimp was included (I had to picked them out). I only wanted the crap and scallops. The restaurant used imagination crab meat. I've ordered this dish at other restaurants and real crab meat was used. I barely had any scallops. This place. It is in the deserted and hideous Irvington Plaza and it's sign has seen better days. This food, however. Their chicken-tortilla soup is savory, seasoned perfectly with enormous pieces of chicken that fall apart with the touch of a spoon. I don't know if they put butter in the soup, but if they do, it is perfect. The 4-stars could be given for it alone. My boyfriend and I always split the enchiladas especiales, or the enchiladas verdes. The especiales have a good variety of fillings and are Tex-Mex yum. We also split, either the camarones al mojo de ajo, or the carnitas. The mojo is perfectly buttery and garlic with the right amount of lime and the shrimp are cooked well. The carnitas are falling apart in a cumin and chili sauce that is delicious. I wish they would offer the fresh lime juice margarita in a smaller size, but it is quite shareable. read more
