Oh Las Maguelles, where can I begin? This Authentic Mexican Restaurant is more often than not a great pleasure to visit and experience a dinner or lunch. The food is cooked and brought out often times on a skillet which is literally steaming as it reaches the table, which is an experience within itself that Mexican restaurants fail to reciprocate in the modern day. When you walk in, you may have some difficulty being seating as this restaurant is typically busy, and typically understaffed. The service is amazing, however. The owner and crew are all very amazing, friendly, hard workers. They converse well, they take care of each other and set up an amazing environment together. That being said, with Los Maguelles may consider hiring a few more servers for the bustling Saturday nights, you may find yourself waiting 10 minutes or longer if you don't speak up for a simple refill let alone be seated. They make it fun, with their "Burrito Tropical" earning the name "Best Burrito On The Menu" as it truly is and the staff is sure to remind you. Los Maguelles is a great experience, great eatery, and an excellent choice for lunch, but with current staffing levels I would avoid a dinner with a large group. read more

Me and my fiancé have been coming here for almost two years and have loved it! Great little hole in the wall, with great prices. We went today for the first time in probably a month and they bumped their prices up like $5 a plate..: our average ticket is about $40 and today it was $55. I understand we are going through inflation but my goodness, I wish they would've warned us before going in they up'd their prices so we were aware before sitting down. The food is still so so good! Always friendly people! Always great food! Three or four Large tables for families to sit out so this is a GREAT place to go with our 3 growing grandsons. The chimichangas and fajitas are mouth watering great food. They have a grilled chicken and cheese plate that is not only great but also much lower calorie and healthy. Food portions are large so splitting a plate is easy and still plenty of food. We have enjoyed this place dozens of times, lunch and dinner time and never had a long wait and the food has always been fresh and excellent. Try it out! Pricing is a little more than or Mexican places but it's worth it. read more

A solid 4-star. I'll admit that the service was a bit slow -- we waited 10-15 min just to be greeted. Past that, the experience was good. We went on a Thursday and took advantage of the daily specials of a $3-4 margaritas & the $10-12 fajitas (can't remember the exact price). This place has a great location in old downtown Fortville. For some reason, the whole downtown of Fortville is closed on Mondays, but at least Los Maguelles is open. Their salsa has a nice kick to it and the chips come out warm. I ordered the lunch special chimichanga which was advertised as having shredded beef on the menu, but it actually was served with ground beef. It was well prepared & had a good sauce on the top, but I would not have ordered it had I known it was ground beef. The guacamole on the side was especially good, and I even heard other customers remark on how tasty it was. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to Los Maguelles, but it was decent Mexican food in a pleasant location. read more

This is a typical American Mexican restaurant located on the main drag in Fortville. It was easy to get a table on a Saturday night which was good. The sole restroom in the family dining area was bad (a mother had taken her crying baby in there and didn't come out for 20 minutes). I had to take my 4-year old daughter to the bar side restroom (I was instructed to do so by a busboy), the legality of which I am not certain. I was also not convinced that their method/location for storing tortilla chips was kosher (in a big rubber trash can in the storage room that led to the restroom. My daughter tried to reach in and grab some chips but I was able to pull her away in time. The food was OK. Nothing to write home about, but certainly edible. They had good drink specials on Saturday (and every night) which I certainly appreciate. read more

I tried Los Maguelles after seeing the great reviews, and went in hopeful that I had found a new delicious Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, I had a very different experience than those described in the previous reviews. Atmosphere: If you have only adults in your party, definitely sit in the newly renovated bar area. It looks modern, and is well decorated. Unfortunately, our experience of it wasn't great because we were seated at a high-top table which, while trendy, was very shaky even after my husband put some packets of sugar under the bottom and our table was sticky. Also, they had a TV over the bar which was not only very loud, but seemed to have a poor connection - so, there would be silence and then blaring sounds at random intervals. We did walk through the 'family area' which I assume will be renovated at some point. Currently, it looks old and not particularly clean. Service: Not great. Our waiter was not particularly friendly or attentive. Food: I can overlook a 'meh' atmosphere and even bad service, as long as the food is good...but that was definitely not the case. The chips were fine, and the salsa tasted like salsa from El Rodeo or other similarly generic Mexican restaurants. I ordered the beef chimichangas and my husband ordered the beef nachos. My chimichangas had a good, flavorful sauce and the portion was fine, but the beef was tough and not very tasty. Also, the refried beans were very thin and had no flavor. My husband's nachos literally just had ground beef on cheese on it. I have never ordered nachos before at a Mexican restaurant that literally had no toppings apart from cheese and beef - at least throw some shredded lettuce or diced tomatoes on there!! Sorry to say, but I shall not be coming back here anytime soon. read more

No care anywhere The food was cold when I picked it up. I walked and picked up within a half hour so I know my distance wasn't the issue. When I got home my supreme nachos were huge amount of sour cream and lettuce with some pink cold meat hidden under it. I asked for chips on the side which I got. The chimichanga was not fried at all. Almost seemed more like a tamale with how soft and squishy the tortilla was. It was also the smallest saddest excuse for a 15$ plate. I cut into it and saw pink chicken also cold to the touch. When I called to explain the issue I was told they would remake it then asked to bring the food back and hung up on. Went to pick it up within 30 minutes again to be stared at by the teenage employees who seemed more concerned with eating pie. When someone finally helped me they just handed the new food to me and said bye. I looked before leaving and again it was the same thing. Honestly I didn't even want the remake I just wasn't given an option. I gave the food back and explained I just wasn't happy with my food or experience and wanted a refund. After a moment of confusion the manager came over while on her phone she got me a refund all while talking about me to whoever was on the phone. Just given the money and then told to leave. No sorry for the food or anything. They didn't even look at my food or want to listen to what I had to say. I use to love this place but it's been horrible for the last few months. I'm not sure what changed but even my friends and family have stopped going. I've heard complaints from them about cold food, getting sick immediately after, and being overly charged. Even the margaritas haven't been the same since spring. What was a great place is now one of the worst. You're better off going to Taco Bell or making your own. At least it's more food than what they'll give you. read more

Sadly, this wasn't my favorite Mexican food experience. This rating really reflects the customer service more than the food. I did enjoy the food - but it took a year and a day to get it. I waited an hour after I made my order before it was delivered. An hour! I was with a group of people at the time so the wait was filled with conversation. But even so, it shouldn't have been an hour. I'll give it another try for sure. This was my first visit so my hope is that I can update this review after I've had a better experience. read more

I am updating my review because I have had three separate times now that this establishment has canceled my order. Tonight's order was literally two items and I was willing to pay the $6 delivery fee via DoorDash. If there is a certain point in your night you aren't accepting DoorDash's then pull yourself from the website instead of making people have to scrounge to find an alternative. read more

Great food and friendly staff. I moved out of Fortville sometime ago and now I drive 45 minutes on a weekly basis, just to eat here. I find that the house margaritas at other places taste like lemonade and leave much to be desired in terms of "feeling it". That's not an issue here. I'm a big Mexican fan and have been to a decent amount of places but this was quite possibly the worst. I don't know if the staff was just bad when I was there or if this truly are horrible, but I would never recommend this place. I had read that it had good reviews, but I am now convinced that they must have posted them all themselves. Overall the service was bad (probably because there was only one worker on a Friday), the food was edible but nothing that I couldn't have made myself, and the quality was greatly lacking. I even ordered a pitcher of margaritas for the table to lighten the mood and they charged almost $30 for it when it was weak at best. It was just not a good experience. I've been to Los Maguelles three times now and I am a huge fan. It's isn't true Mexican food but it is some of the best Tex-Mex food around. It is located in the downtown area of a quiet and quaint little community just a few miles east of Indianapolis and worth the drive. A friend of mine mine and I enjoy going to Los Maguelles for the nachos. We split the nachos al carbon because it is enough food to sink a boat. The tortilla chips are light and crispy without a hint of grease. They coat the chips with cheese and then layer chicken, steak, shrimp, lettuce, and pico on top of all that. Both she and I are stuffed after we finish that plate of nachos. we did break from tradition on one visit and ate something else besides the nachos. I had the fajitas and she a burrito. Just like the nachos, the fajitas and the burrito both have well cooked and delicious ingredients The flour tortillas they use are either made their or are of the highest quality they can get. They are soft, with a bite, and taste great. The best utensil there is for these dishes. Finally, I have to rave about their margaritas. I am a tequila fan and a margaritas aficionado. I would rather enjoy the ones I make at home because they are just better then what you get out. Enter the margarita from Los Maguelles... I was thrown off my guard with their house margarita. It is made with good quality tequila and a blend of lime and orange juice. No tipple sec needed and no artificial mixer required. I may need an Uber the next time I am there! Do yourself a favor. Give Los Maguelles a try. It is good honest food and the staff is great. Sadly, we ate the food before I thought to take picture. Hopefully I will remember the next time we are there! read more

Typical Mexican food. The staff was nice, although that night there was no hostess, so I was a little lost walking in. I didn't know if I was supposed to seat myself or continue waiting for someone to seat me. I finally had to flag someone down to get a seat. The waitress was very friendly and sat me at table in the corner. She quickly brought over some chips and salsa, offered guacamole too. I ordered a beef and cheese enchiladas, it was decent with a hearty amount of beans with a side of beans. We may try it again, since the staff was friendly on a weeknight, since it was pretty busy this night. read more
