After a less than stellar first visit, my boyfriend and I decided to give Los Dos Molinos a few more tries since then, and fortunately it's been a much better experience without the outrageous wait times as before. The food is still pretty good - my go-to has become the enchiladas with chicken and no sauce - a bit above average but good for the price. There are likely better Mexican places around, but for being relatively affordable and close by to where we live it's more than suitable. The service has been rather good and friendly, so no complaints there. Despite the lukewarm first impression, I'm glad we gave this place another chance and we'll now usually stop by at least a couple times a month. read more

While the food was good, the service was poor. They initially gave us another table's bill. When we received ours, we weren't charged the Wednesday special margarita of $6 but their regular price of $8.25. When we told the waitress this, she said we didn't get the small margarita although that was what we asked for and received. She said she would correct this but when the bill came, the margarita was still $8.25. We later discovered that an extra charge of $1.95 was snuck in when we used a credit card. This was our first time back since Covid and it seems the prices went up because for the avodava ribs dinner, 2 tacos ala carte and 1 margarita, the bill was over $43. The food was at most mediocre. I was not impressed at all. The guac was literally just crushed up avocados, no flavor added like lime or cilantro. I can see the appeal of this place because the margs are the size of your face but that's really the only positive thing i see. The serve was great. The food was quick but not great. That is not the servers fault. I did not like how hard alcohol was being pushed, every time someone came to our table they tried to get us to get drinks. I would save the money and go somewhere with better food. It is a bit pricey for what you get. I would probably give them another chance in a couple months but not any time soon. read more

Warning: do not go here with a large group. We went to the Mesa Los Dos location last week to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We had a reservation for 12 people and were seated in the back room (which resembled a storage shed). We all ordered food and drinks from a very annoyed waitress. Food was not nearly as good as the Camelback Los Dos. When we asked if checks could be split at the end, she told us it could only be split 6 ways. No problem we said; we paid the check on one person's credit card, and asked for an itemized receipt so everyone could Venmo the person. We were given a receipt with only the prices, but completely blank as what item each price corresponded to (see attached picture). We had to ask for the menu again and match the menu prices to the prices on the receipt. This took about 45 mins. We gave an $80 tip, then later realized that tip had already been included ($~54), but we weren't able to tell this since nothing was labeled on the receipt, and it was too late to take it back. If you like spicy food, then this is the place for you! We have been to two of their locations now and have enjoyed our food both time. We have tried their carne adovada plates and enchiladas and we prefer the enchiladas because the tortillas and the fried egg on top definitely cool down the spice from the carne adovada. They were are pretty reasonably priced for their portion sizes even though I do feel like their portions have gone down slightly from the last time the we visited. Free chips and salsa is always a plus in my book. Their salsas have a good kick to them as well. Definitely a place that I would return to for some good spicy Mexican food! read more

The salsa was so spicy and flavorless. The jalapeño poppers were inedible and the server saw that no one at them and said nothing. When they were dropped off at the table all 6 of us just stared at them because they looked so unappealing. No way they are fresh. It was also really difficult to get clean silverware or refills on drinks. Not to mention it seems like everyone hates their job and they barely interacts with patrons. My boss frequently gets take out from this place. Today we order delivery. I had the green chili chicken tamale. I also ordered an egg from on top. The egg was cooked perfectly. Not too runny but cooked enough to enjoy the white with the green chili and the yoke made for a delicious on top sauce. Their bean and cheese burrito is huge. It's also quite tasty.The beans aren't completely mashed. They're seasoned just right not too spicy or mushy! If you want spice their green side sauce has just the kick! It's full of juicy chopped onions that add to the authentic taste. What made the experience even nicer was how they lightly top their burritos with whatever is inside the burrito. I first started eating at this location 24 years ago when one of Victoria's daughters ran it. For a while, Morris was helping run it, and in recent years, Juan (who is awesome BTW). Always super service, and the best food in town if you like HOT. Their tortillas are freshly made. Someday I have to just have a tortilla with butter. I usually get Combination Number One (taco and enchilada) but also recommend their Chilli Relleno plate, and also their Cheese Enchilada Plate with blue corn tortillas and XMAS (half red/half green sauce on top - not mixed, but 1/2 and 1/2). Highly recommend! Hint, use the Yelp check-in and sometimes they offer a check in "bonus" cheese crisp for free. read more

After our last visit to Los dos, it will be a very long time before I attempt to come back. Sure, yes, the food is really good....if you have the patience to wait over an hour after you wait 30 minutes to actually order. It took over two hours to have a simple dinner. We were seated right away and brought chips and salsa and water, but didn't see our server for over 20 minutes. The problem is that they don't have a wait. They sit everyone that comes in the door because they have the room, but they are so understaffed it's insane. We ran out of chips, water and margaritas and were never asked if we would like anything else. I'm a patient person but I was so close to walking out because I was so hungry. Only after our meal and when it came time to pay did the server come back around. This place needs some real training, and they need to hire more servers and cooks. Their carne adovado recipe to me has always been spot on and consistent whether it be their dinner plate or the burro. Now another item that keeps us coming is their salsa it's hot and super hot, hot, not. You think you have a cold coming on.....you the salsa almost better than tequila for a cure all. Yet another great meal at Los Dos Molinos on Alma School. I was in a rut ordering the same delicious garlic pork roast Chimi for the longest time, why mess with perfection, right after? Eventually after a few months I moved to the Carne Adovada and kicked myself for waiting so long to try it, now it's my fave. John the main man is attentive and friendly with the customers, the staff is awesome and provide great customer service and after going there for the last two or three years, we have yet to sample something that was not out of this world, everything is good. We like it hot and we love Los Dos, we celebrated Valentine's Day early there today, had our 25th anniversary dinner there last year, and pretty much if we just want to have a guaranteed great meal and great service, I know John and his people will not disappoint. A very unassuming location and easy to pass by. I scoured Yelp first which is how I found this restaurant. First, the salsa was amazing. I usually never notice a difference in salsa quality but I definitely saw it here. The food was overall spicy and delicious. Like most people said, the food here is bursting with flavor and color. Very rich taste overall with salsa that has a kick. The pork is tender and has a marinated texture that doesn't need much help on it's own. I did the check in for the free cheese crisp, the food was $12.95 so with the drink and tip it's a $20 lunch. Not a cheap lunch, but a nice place to go when you want something that stands out from the typical fare. Good service, friendly staff, easy to find, free refills, free chips and salsa. But that was a long, long time ago and things have much changed. The adovada burro plate I had for lunch today was $13.99 incl tax. About 40% smaller vs the good old days - not good value. Beans were pretty bland and the tiny, tiny scoop of accompanying rice was pretty plain, too. Red chile was still good but the green was completely devoid of flavor. Whomever made today's batch of green must have forgotten to add garlic, onions, etc. You've heard of 'Where's the beef'? Well, today's lunch had me repeatedly asking 'Where's the flavor'? My impression was somebody in the back was cooking without garlic, onion, and other basic flavor building blocks of their recipes. Service ladies were nonetheless nice and friendly. But given the uninspiring food and fairly aggressive pricing for this lunchtime locale - I'm not enthusiastic about returning. read more

Let's just start with the service, no one came to our table to check on us or offer refills. We had to get up and ask for one, no one checked on us throughout the meal. This place was recommended to me by a coworker. Ever since I tried their food I've been regularly coming for my lunch. It's New Mexican food that filled with FLAVOR! My favorite plate is the chicken fundido burrito but I also love their Adobada pork ribs plate which is the signature plate. The adobada sauce & meat is VERY spicy and flavorful. If you enjoy spicy food you have to try this place! If you don't enjoy spice they also have many other options. It's Mexican food with a twist of flavor in every bite. The service is ALWAYS amazing. Marisela is always so attentive and nice. The food has always been fresh, well made and served fast. Their manager is super friendly and always on top making sure service and food is great. I'm a fan. A Mexican restaurant I can take my in-laws from New Mexico to without embarrassment. Yes, Los Dos Molinos does bring the heat, but they assist you by spice indications on the menu and by friendly help when ordering. My advice? Embrace the heat. Rules of thumb? The red salsa is hot. The green salsa is not. The green sauce is hot. The red sauce is not. I hope that's clear :) Better ask your server if you're truly adverse to spicy food. I love the New Mexico influences: The random fried eggs. The quality red and green chile smothering every burrito and enchilada. The heat. The kids menu is great, with a lot of choices. Some items seem a little expensive at first reading, but they are worth the price. The restaurant itself is bright and colorful, but basic. A true hole in the wall. I drove right by it the first time I visited. It's easy to see in the daylight, but it's difficult to spot at night. Just trust Google if you're arriving after dark. [The name of the place is merely painted on the top of the building in an industrial area...and illuminated with a couple of dim bulbs -- no figurative message intended.] But....and this is enough of a "but" to zap the fifth star -- the table chips were seemingly out of a bag?!?!?!? HUH?! WHAT?!?!? That excellently spiced salsa [not for the faint of heart as others have noted] was wasted!! Why not homemade tortillas with some body....gloriously fried in lard like my favorite Mex-place in Pomona, CA?? That's my only quibble....when in the Phoenix area....GO!
