Good food but RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED $9 for a torta is very excessive and $4 for a taco WOW what fest are we at I understand inflation but you don't need to over charge us by that much. I'd love to continue being a patron we're neighbors but very upset with prices!!!!! read more

DO NOT GO TO LOS FRIENDS IN OAKLAWN FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY. I would like to preface this with saying that I am not ever a person to rate a business or complain online. Yesterday my family and I ordered from Los Friends restaurant in Oaklawn. It was our first time and we ordered $85 worth of food. When I got home I began eating my torta de Milanesa de pollo and noticed within a few bites that the chicken was chewy. I pulled apart the sandwich and found the chicken was COMPLETELY RAW. I immediately threw it out and my family was not able to eat their own food in disgust. I am also pregnant and now have to watch closely for signs of food poisoning which could result in an emergency ER visit. I called the restaurant immediately and they were closed. I called today and was met with the most unprofessional and unapologetic manager. They said when this happens (as if it happens often) all they could do is offer a $5 coupon for the next visit. After much argument, they offered to reimburse the Torta only but had much attitude. I refused to have to go in person to get a tiny refund when this was negligence and was not even met with any compassion. Reasons they should do well for a long time...(1) variety of tacos-a bunch to choose from. I tried the steak, ground beef, and al-pastor. All were delicious. (2) pleasant service. I'm always quick to try a new place when it opens up around me and Los Friends far from disappointed. My buddy had it catered for a party a few months back, and I was able to try just about every meat off the menu. Everything was SUPERB. I feel like with some Mexican joints around the area you have to pick and choose what to order where (steak at one spot, pastor at another etc) but when I say EVERYTHING here is good I mean it. Los Friends is the best Mexican place in Oak Lawn/Evergreen Park area. If you miss Unidad, go here. It's a little closer to a Tacqueria than Unidad was but that's a good thing! It's far more reasonably priced. While some dishes (chillequilles) are a tad oily for my taste, the flavors are legit! You won't be let down by any of the meat dishes here. Can't recommend this place enough! Al Pastor tacos are the bomb! I always ask for extra pina! Small joint, but cozy and always have the most delicious food! Try the churros too! Those are fresh out the grease! Definitely our go to Mexican restaurant, coming from Berwyn there wasn't many choices and now slowly but surely we're seeing more and more Mexican restaurants opening up! We came here this morning for breakfast to see what all the talk is about. They certainly did not disappoint! From the greeting, to the service to the delicious food! Everything was outstanding, but delicious was the word of the day here. We even took more items to go. I took home some Pozole to try and we also grabbed a simple quesadilla for our son because he loves them and if he loves them from here then I know this place is great!! lol. I was very excited to try Los Friends because a co worker told me about this spot and said that she had been here before. When I got my food I didn't check it before I left the restaurant and that was a big mistake. My chicken meat on my tacos were over cooked and the cilantro that I payed for was missing. I called and talked to a man who stated that he would replace my meal. I let him know that I would return the next day because my lunch was over and they closed before I got off. The man was nice and assured me that it would be fine. I returned the next day and even saved my food to return it. The lady working the register gave me a very hard time. She went as far as saying that she had to check the cameras to see if the cook put cilantro on my tacos because I could have took it off. I was basically a liar to her. I said ok please check the cameras but she said she couldn't because someone else had to be there in order for her to do so and to leave number.I ended up leaving without even getting a remake of my order. I felt horrible for the way that I was treated and would not return here nor advise anyone else to give them their business. read more

(steak burrito and chicken taco) Prices are average and fair.Place was neat and clean with a nice atmosphere. .Great that they had daily specials at a very reasonable price. My special was a steak burrito with fries and a can of soda. A little odd that it was fries and not beans and rice. Maybe that's there way of appealing to a younger crows.. I so wanted to love this place. The hostess/waitress was a delightful lady. The restaurant is small but very colorfully decorated. However, I ordered the 3 taco plate. One each pollo, carnitas and pastor. Each plate comes with generous side servings of rice and refried beans. The side dishes were both ice cold at presentation and the refried beans had a metallic after taste. The tacos all arrived very hot, but each one had their issues. The pollo/chicken meat was so dry it was inedible by the half way point. The same applied to the carnitas. It was very dry and little flavor. The pastor taco was not dry, but the meat had a burnt flavor to it. Not grill charred, but burnt. I was so disappointed. I'll try it again sometime hoping these folks just had a tough night, but my first visit left me very disappointed. read more
