Just beautiful decor.
Damian P.

Have been coming here for years and decided that it was time we stop for a quick breakfast bite. The food quality is still super good and the place has remodeled to a nice trip of being in Mexico decor. One of the women I was speaking to said that unfortunately over the years the patrons have changed and it seems people enjoy stealing the salt shakers, the decor and even the salsa bowls. But she said it with a smile on her face and I respect honesty, I had chilaquiles (tortilla with eggs and salsa) and it was really good, a little heavy on the cheese but still really tasty and good. I also had a homemade orange juice and let me tell you, the oranges they used were big and plenty. I am living for the patin outside right next to the parking lot, although we were told that the new clientele seem to think that the nicely decorated patin furniture entices patrons to take off their shoes (mind you this is a restaurant) and just lie around and are very loud. Unfortunately the neighborhood is changing and it is obvious that people seem to think that they can do as they please in a nicely done Mexican Restaurant. A real shame since the workers are so sweet and nice. Come in and sit a spell while enjoying either a cocktail or a real down home mexican meal. Not at all expensive and very ample to accommodate the biggest of parties.

A small order of rice. $2.19.

$2.19 for rice to go. Really look at this size. I've gone elsewhere and more generous. This is a RIP off. Must make up for those lawyers from the serenata days in cicero. Overpriced on just the rice alone

Food was awful. This used to be a decent restaurant now it's just a front for gambling machines.

I would recommend their Tacos Al Pastor. They are extremely delicious. The Best, clean Al Pastor tacos I have tried from anywhere.

My dad got the barbocoa burrito and I got the Mar y Tierra-skirt steak and shrimp wrapped in bacon. It's funny bc I ordered well done steak and it looked burnt but it wasn't! It was really tasty as was the shrimp. A little too much salt and they forgot my tortillas. The guacamole and salsa were really really good as were the chips. They have a to go counter so it made picking up the order quick and easy. People seemed to be enjoying themselves while dining. Overall, would reccomend and would come again.

We arrived around 4 pm and there was about a 25 minute wait. It is cozy so there were people waiting outside. The decor is more modern than traditional. They have a bar and TVs. Staff are warm and friendly and our server was Dulce. It was a busy day yet she would periodically check in to see how we were doing. We ordered the table side guacamole. It was made fresh at our table and hubby added a little more salt to it. We were also served a small bowl of salsa. The chips are warm and fresh. Hubby ordered the combo fajitas and a strawberry margarita. I ordered the steak enchiladas rojas and a pina colada. Everything was seasoned well and we enjoyed our meals. Kudos to the bartender for making great drinks!

This isn't just plant-based food -- it's thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with real love. I had the fish tacos (yes, vegan -- and absolutely convincing), the corn ribs, mushroom sandwich, truffle fries, mushroom quesadilla, horchata, and Jamaica. Not one miss. Every single item was a hit. The flavors are layered without being heavy. Comforting without being greasy. Satisfying without the crash. You leave feeling full but light -- the kind of meal where your mouth, your stomach, and your health all say "thank you." If you go, honestly? Do yourself a favor: order a sandwich and a drink. Sit with it. Taste it. Let it speak for itself. This is the kind of place we need not just to survive, but to thrive. You can feel the family behind it. The mom. The owner. The care. The pride. The love is truly in the food. Oak Lawn is lucky to have them. Go hungry. Leave grateful.

I got the Fish Dinner Tacos ($25), and my husband got Flautas de Papa ($18). I was eyeballing their Pozole or Menudo but didn't really want to pay $22 for a bowl of soup. Everything on the menu just felt too expensive, especially for being in a casual atmosphere outside the city. Quesadilla La Reina del Sur has a plethora of vegan tacos you can get for like $4 each. I was in the mood for dessert, but even something as simple as 2 cookies with milk would be $24, so we went elsewhere. The food was fine, and the service was fairly attentive, but nothing blew me out of the water for these prices. They also added a 3.5% fee to the bill.
