I have a 60 yr old brother with cerebral palsy and has never been able to use his right hand. I woke up one morning and was so depressed after thinking of how debilitating my thumb pain was and decided to call Los Gatos Hand therapy. Years of physical therapy and injections had failed me. The vibe in the office is amazing and healing. I was wt up with Anthony and he was wonderful. He immediately went to work with the machine, made excellent use of my time (unlike my PT in the past who left me waiting for 30 mins while she made a finger splint in the back, charging me $500 for one visit and the finger splint only lasting a month). Laurann is a god sent. After years of suffering from tennis elbow and exhausting all options including injections, physical therapy and a variety of home remedies I was referred to Laurann at Los Gatos Hand Therapy by my orthopedic surgeon friend for shock wave therapy. Laurann is caring and very experienced - most importantly she knows her craft inside out. After a few weekly sessions my pain and stiffness completely went away - 100% resolved and it helped me resume tennis without a need for elbow band or other extra precautions. The office set up is very pleasant and other staff are great too. If you are suffering from chronic tennis elbow and haven't seen results with other therapies give shock wave therapy a serious chance. It can be miraculous. I had surgery as a result of breaking 2 bones in my distal radius last December. Thankfully, it was my non-dominant had, but I learned quickly how dependent I am on that non-dominant hand. When I was looking for a therapist, I went with the recommendation of a friend who had similar surgery and that's how I found Laurann. I can't say enough about her. Laurann is one of the best therapists I have ever worked with. She takes utmost care of her patients. She spends the time and energy to understand the problem of the patient and what is working and not working. She goes an extra mile to really figure out what will help in the recovery. In my case she even talked with the Dr to see what can be planned out to help with my pain. She actively looks for alternative treatments that might help. I had a wrist tear and tendinitis. It was a tricky situation and required a lot of patience from me, the therapist, and the Dr. I am glad that I was with Laurann and she helped me through bringing down the pain, reducing or preventing any re-injury. What a wonderful experience it was working with Laurann! I had two amazing recommendations from my hand surgeon and orthopedic surgeon neighbor for Laurann and they both were spot on. I was feeling a little nervous for PT after my surgery to repair my broken (practically crushed) left thumb and right wrist, but Laurann immediately put me at ease. She listened carefully about my injuries and quickly developed a pain-free plan to rehab my hands that was easy to follow. She also took into consideration that I had two small children to take care of at home and altered our plan to take that into consideration. Laurann even created her own thumb brace for me to wear at night so I could do "work" while I slept. Genius! Laurann delicately and expertly balanced my need for support and encouragement while letting me know the window of time to regain my full range of motion was short. I've been going to Laurann at Los Gatos Hand Therapy for my awful snowboarding accident for a while now. I broke my dominant hand's humerus in four places and also a slightly broken wrist bone. Had to have an extensive and complicated surgery with fears of never being able to do certain things I loved again. The first day I met with Laurann, I told her I wouldn't except anything but full recovery and mobility. As close as we could, we got me back to normal range of motion and I couldn't be happier with my results. Thanks to Laurann, I now have enough range of motion to allow me to do everything on any day, as well as enough courage to possibly try snowboarding again. She takes the best care of her patients, not only on a patient level but truly cares about all the stories I shared and time we had together. The fact that she was so excited for me and to see how excited I was when I shared the news that I could do a handstand, says it all!! It's truly the simple accomplishments with injuries! Laurann has told me multiple times that she always believed in me but she truly shows it by pushing me harder than I push myself during our sessions. With every complaint or pain I had, she offered possible solutions and home exercises as well as treated that specific issue during our sessions. She goes the extra mile every time! In my case she even talked with my arm doctor (on multiple occasions) to see what can be planned out to help me even further (like cortisone shots or pain management). I took my daughter to see Laurann as my daughter had persistent pain in her wrist six months after a minor injury. Laurann did a thorough exam and recommended that she have an MRI to determine if there was a tendon or ligament injury or what was going on. She recommended an orthopedic surgeon and once we got an appt, Laurann follows up w the surgeon. MRI showed a cyst which was causing the pain and preventing her from flexing her wrist back fully. The surgeon drained it and voila, pain gone and full wrist flexion restored. Without Laurann we may never have gotten to the bottom of this issue as pediatrician had no ideas or referrals. The cyst could return -- they are common in wrists and ankles -- but it may not. In any case, highly recommend Laurann. She knows her stuff! read more

I am writing this 1st time Yelp review on behalf of Laurann at Los Gatos Hand Therapy. I am a 64 yr. old male with a history of 6 spinal cord surgeries, 2 elbow surgeries and a damaged ulnar nerve in my dominant right arm and hand. I have lost track of how many physical therapists I have tried with most of them causing more damage and pain. When faced with finding a physical therapist to work on my right arm and hand I had serious anxiety issues about anyone touching my pain ridden body. I scheduled an appointment with Laurann. After my 1st session I was surprised and overwhelmed with gratefulness. Laurann is a highly trained professional in her field and her knowledge of the arm and hand is very evident. As skillful as Laurann is, I experienced something I did not expect. Laurann's compassion, kindness and genuine care left me feeling that I was her only patient. Through my sessions with Laurann I found myself coming out of the fear of more trauma. I am a very critical and judgmental person and I do not give out free compliments or recommendations.
