I have to say the service has much improved and I have no issues. They have a group of people that are young and quick to respond. I am so glad because the food is so great and it deserves great servers. I like the fish tacos currently on the menu. I would suggest adding a fish burrito because the grilled fish is very good. I don't much care for the white sauce that goes on the fish, but you can always ask to have that not included. We are long time regulars and are so glad that this restaurant is in our community. It used to be fair prices and fair portions. Obviously they've been hit with the same increased operation costs. I ordered two hard shelled chicken tacos, rice and beans. The BEANS! OMG, the beans taste like your abuela made them. The nachos are my fav but you only get meat of choice, beans, cheese and salsa on top. If you want guac ($3) or pico de gallo ($.50) or sour cream etc you have to pay extra. The chips and salsa are not included and you have to pay extra for those too $2.50 per. If you see reviews regarding the new location at 921 Claremont- I would ignore them. They need to be given some grace. They have been closed since May and just reopened last week. Everyone are trying their best to get in the flow of everything. If you are an impatient customer, I would recommend waiting to try the new location until things smooth out. Because genuinely, I don't believe that they deserve to be critiqued for figuring things out. Service took a while, but the food was just as good as it ever was. And lots of the same great employees. The quality used to be much better but the last couple times I have ordered throuh door dash I haven't finished the food. They don't use to go containers. They have those recycled plates and they cover it with foil And the hard tacos are touching the rice and beans ans get soggy. I was really impressed with the prices and quality of food from Los Jarritos Restaurants. LJR was recommended by a respected colleague who said he had cravings for their Green Salsa Chicken Nachos. The place was busy when I visited, and the service is quick and friendly. My chips and salsa were served immediately after sitting. I ordered the "Two Beef Hard Shell Taco plate with rice, beans, and a Corona. The hard-shell tacos were delicious, and my only irritation was that there wasn't enough shredded lettuce and cheese smothering my tacos. My friend asked for the Chicken Nachos plate, and he said he was the best he's tried. The rice and beans were fresh, and the fresh salsa was cracking with the chips. Hands down one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I've been coming here for many years and it does not disappoint. It is still delicious and affordable. You can tell it is a family atmosphere just by the friendliness of service. They are often busy on the weekends but you tend to get seated quickly. My go-to dish is the dinner combo plate of 2 chicken enchiladas with red sauce. It's a full meal as it comes with rice and beans. When I'm craving something crispy, I go for the beef taquitos, which is topped with guac, lettuce, and tomatoes. Some other family favorites include the Chile Verde plate, the carne asada plate, & menudo. Always ask for chips & salsa for the table. That salsa is amazing too. This review is for the most recent visit. I come here every so often to get the chile relleno burrito which is really good here. They recently raised their prices as most places have and their burrito is now over $9. I do have one suggestion for this place. If you're going to charge more for a burrito you need to, at the very least, keep it the same size. I know it's random and it will depend on who is making the burrito. But the last one I ordered was about 60% the size of the normal burrito. Was not happy about it at all. Will give this place one more chance and if it happens again, they will lose my business. This place has the best nachos with carne asada the best wet burritos with green sauce. On the weekends you see people with their pots getting menudo. They have have cafe the dela olla which is great the chilaquiles are also bomb. I could keep going and going. This review will be on the carne asada wet burrito with green sauce and an order of medium nachos with carne asada. The nachos came out first from the oven cheese melting, they come with green sauce, frijoles ( beans ) and the carne asada. The chips are delicious that they use. My opinion is the chips are the foundation of some good nachos. Well they have them here. The burritos was excellent it's like everything just tastes soooo good lol. They close at 2. Arrived a bit before 1:45 to place a to go order after calling and being told to place the order in store. I arrive and the worker up front does not let us in. She stated they were closed even though they close at 2. I had called before to make sure it was okay to go in. She then goes and tells the manager that we arrived after 1:45. New location, not the same old Los Jarritos. My wife and I had lunch last Sunday at the new Los Jarriotos location on foothill blvd, we were regulars at the old location for many years. To start, we were seated and the waitress brought out the Salsa, a few minuets later I asked when she would be bringing the chips, she said they were out, I wondered why she would bring the Salsa? I looked around and nobody had chips just cups of Salsa, Weird! Now for the food... Wife ordered the meat and bean burrito and I ordered the Chicken Fajitas plate, The food was very dry and almost flavorless, the chicken in my Fajita was dry and the rice was over cooked "dry and crunchy", the refried beans were more like a soup. the amount of chicken served to me was not the normal amount, almost like they were about to run out of it. My table has been passed over many times and our food has come out way after others who ordered after. I just assumed it was the quirky service. Today, though, after being a polite patron and adding my name and number of guests (3) to their waiting list. We were overlooked again for seating for a party of two when all their tables are 4 tops and we were a party of 3. The hostess/server specifically told us to wait and seated the party in line behind us first, and their busperson who knows we are good patrons invited us in. Even the party she sat was perplexed. Love this place. It's always busy every time I come here. The workers are always hustling. Food is yummy. Service is fast . They now take Apple Pay and you can scan your receipt and pay. Soccer game was paying on a few tvs. For lunch I got the #6 chile Relleno with crunchy shredded beef taco . The chile relleno had a nice kick (maybe because the seeds were left inside?? ) very cheesy but a little slim side where I thought it was an enchilada at first . Maybe their other items are better, but I ordered the plate with 2 hard tacos with chicken. The food was just okay. The complimentary chips and salsa was better, but we had to ask for it. Service was wanting. I know they were short staffed, but the man who helped us didn't seem like he was even that interested in checking in on his customers. The manager Pedro is very rude. I went in this Sunday morning to order there beans. It was pretty crowded so I asked the cashier how long the wait would be. She checked with Pedro and he said about 20 minutes. He then felt it necessary to tell me that I should order them on Saturday evening or on Sunday evening. I told him I needed them for today and he continued to tell me when I should place my order. I have been patronizing this place for over 20 years. None of the other staff enjoy talking down to customers. It was not so much that I had to wait, it was his attitude. In the past when I order beans, they get it ready in about 1 minute. I was there recently, however, and the person that waited on me had a more unpleasant attitude. The other girl always had her hair up in a bun and wore a hat which I liked so no hair gets in my food. I was a former Casa Jimenez patron and decided to try Los Jarritos on Sunday. Parking lot full and a 15-minute wait...must be good! The interior had nothing but table seating, bad acoustics, very noisy, and I had to repeat everything to my wife across the table. Needs sound barriers. The wait staff was friendly. Limited menu items. Wife chose Manuto, which had limited toppings, no lemon, but lime (authentic). She said it tasted homemade. Corn tortillas ordered al la carte, 4 small & thin. No chips/salsa. After the food was served, no attention from the wait staff. Coffee served lukewarm, had to flag someone to get a refill. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, but what I took away from this experience was, limited menu, long wait time, no attention to detail after ordering, and the food was not up to par as advertised/reviewed.
