We have been eating there for probably 5-10years We've never had a bad meal and the owners and waitstaff are great.

We may be spoiled by the Mexican restaurants we have back home, but unfortunately this was our second Mexican restaurant in The Villages that missed the mark for us. The salsa tasted like it came from a jar rather than being made fresh, and the cheese enchiladas were disappointing. In 25 years, I've only seen my husband leave his enchiladas unfinished twice, and this was one of those times. We were also surprised by the limited drink selection, with only two margarita flavors available. The service was fine, but the food simply wasn't what we were hoping for. We won't be returning, but we're still hopeful we'll find a great Mexican restaurant in The Villages during a future visit. read more

My friend Brenda's daughter was out of town, and we were invited to do a "Staycation" while she was away. We stumbled upon Los Laureles, and I'm very glad we did. We loved the interior booths with their Mexican motifs. Service was pretty good. Salsa: outstanding! The Margaritas were excellent! Brenda and I shared the Fajitas, which were also excellent. LOTS of perfectly-prepared tender steak, accompanied by also-perfectly-prepared vegetables. Rice was very good, as was the guacamole. We took home our leftover fajitas for a delicious omelette the next morning! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and will definitely return. read more

Today 6/23/26: The service was not great. Food was not good. But I was not going to post anything because I really don't write reviews unless is a good one. I asked for a Sprite and the flavor was horrible it tasted like it was mostly tap water. I told the server to please change it for a bottle of water because the sprite was not good. She did. When she gave me the check she did not take out the sprite even that I told her she that there was something wrong with it. Her manager told her no because I already drank a little of it (which made no sense because we I drank from it is how I knew it was bad). Thank was crazy. So I end up paying for a damage drink. The manager did not even went to check what happened. I am not coming back here. They are amazing Mexican food restaurants in the area. This is the only one I had a bad experience. Avoid this one and go to another Mexican Restaurant. This is Crazy! Take responsibility and stop arguing and calling people liars. Just apologize and do better. My Sprite was not good. He never came to check. I don't care if you say others Sprites were good cause mine was not. I was only 1 other guy that asked for a Sprite there. Also the food was terrible. The yellow rice was ok. We've been here several times and usually order the fajitas. They are very good, and there is lots of food. I like their margaritas a lot! Salsa has varied so I think they make it fresh. Usually it's very good, but last time there was too much cilantro in it. Nice place for lunch or supper. read more

This is a privately owned restaurant. They are super accommodating. The food is American-Mexican so everything is mild to taste. You can increase the intensity by simply requesting. You need to try the carnitas and the shrimp cocktail. Incredible service too! read more

When we walked in we waited to be greeted and seated. There were only 3 people working the entire business. We ordered our drinks and some queso dip, and we had to remind the waitress about the dip. A table that was seated after us got their dip before we did. We waited a long time for any refills on drinks and chips. We weren't checked on often. I think the dad of the family was cooking, and the mother and daughter were doing everything else. Both seemed very overwhelmed and distracted. At one point the daughter, our waitress, came to check on us and her mom yelled at her and called her away before we could even talk. My husband enjoyed his meal but I did not care for the sauce on the enchilada or the burrito. It just tasted like unseasoned tomato sauce. The black beans were good. The chicken was fresh. The salsa was fresh but average. I would not come back here. The atmosphere was okay -- colorful. But I didn't feel welcome or as if they cared about us. It was almost like they were so hectic and busy trying to run the place that us actual customers were in their way. I didn't get the idea that they have much experience running a restaurant. This is new as it has one of those bendy windy guys out front and some balloons. There is no outdoor dining but two sections inside. There is a sit-at bar but behind it looked empty and pathetic. No liquor bottles or drought beer. The inside was very clean and nice. Painted decorative tables and chairs and brightly colored walls. They had a few TVs. Server was nice and attentive but literally asked what I wanted to drink before I had even sat down or before she brought the menu. They have Coke products but no Coke Zero. Happy Hour special are but 2 get 1 free margaritas and beer. Chips were average (likely from a bag, not warm or salty). Salsa was thick tomato paste consistency and blah. Chalupa was good. Cheese quesadilla was not very cheesy and quite small. Hard taco was ok. The refried beans were my favorite and the rice was nothing special. I had tea and it was ok. Amazing that this place isn't busier. Of the 3 Mexican restaurants I've tried in Leesburg, this one takes the crown. The decor is attractive and authentic. There is a dining room as well as a bar area. We sat in the dining room. Drink offerings include beer, wine, Mexican soft drinks, lemonade and tea. The food menu is extensive. I ordered carnitas, as I do in every Mexican restaurant. It was properly cooked, with a hint of cinnamon. It came with rice, beans, tortillas and lettuce with a spoonful of pico. My wife had a taco salad with chicken. It was small but delicious. Prices were reasonable. Service was attentive and friendly. We are headed back for our second visit in a week. read more

Recently opened (Oct 2019) restaurant south of the Lake Harris boat ramp on Hwy 27. Stopped in on a whim for lunch. Poor experience for me. As I entered I was pleased with brightness of restaurant: all tables, booths and chairs have lively scenes painted and or carved. There is a bar with several chairs in the first room. Off to the side of the check in podium is the main dining area with 10 +/- booths, and a few tables and chairs. The dining room appeared busy when I entered and I was looking forward to enjoying a new restaurant. Several parties finished while I patiently awaited nearly 5 minutes at the stand before someone came to greet me and bring me to a seat. It was another 7 minutes before I was asked what I wanted to drink. At that time cold chips and salsa were put on the table. I took that opportunity to place my food order (beef burrito fajita)and settled in for an 18 minute wait for the wrong principle ingredient (chicken) meal to be brought out. As I was tired of waiting and did not want a redo, I politely declined the server's offer to have the chef make it over, and advised him I was leaving. (Thankfully they did not try to charge me for that meal). Maybe Los Laureles will improve as they get more confidence with time and experience. I'll wait for others to try them and if reviews show improvement, may return. read more

Ordered a couple things using door dash. Delivery was prompt and the food was packaged carefully. No problems. My wife selected two Enchiladas and I couldn't make up my mind so ordered a Laurels Burrito and a double order of Chili Rellenos. There was a paper sack with fresh tortilla chips and a container of salsa with the order. Everything was delicious and plentiful. So plentiful that we ate the Enchiladas and Rellenos one night and split the Burrito the next night. All good and we're looking forward to dining in when the Covid clears a bit. We just moved to the area and are going around trying the restaurants. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly. The food was ok, not great. It was hot, which was good, but we didn't care for the flavors. I got the combo plate of ground beef chili relleno, taco, and chimichanga. I liked the chili relleno, but the sauce was almost like an Italian spaghetti sauce. I didn't care for some flavoring in the ground beef, so I didn't like the other two items. Close to our home, so we have eaten here on numerous occasions since it was allowed to reopen. Family owned and staffed, they ensure social distanced seating, staff wears masked, and it is kept very clean. The owners work hard, and are proud of their restaurant. Customer service has been outstanding and everything we have tried off the menu has been been delicious. We have eaten here 4 times and it has been quite consistent. Reading below reviews, note that many are older, when the restaurant was new. I think they've shaken off a lot of mentioned issues as they've gained experience. The really good - ...the decor. Unlike many Mexican, it is bright, colorful, and absolutely spotless. All of the furniture is hand carved and is gorgeous. ...the food. Never disappointing. Fresh with large portions. Try the vegetable fajitas, polla sopa, or beef fajita quesadilla for something a bit different but delicious. All the standards do not disappoint, either. ...Margariitas. They actually offer a 'mini'! Great when I want the taste but can't do the normal jumbo size! The good - ...the service. Very pleasant and dependable. One staff member has limited English, but that has never impacted our service. (My Spanish is almost non-existent). And no, your eyes are not deceiving you - the other two waitstaff ARE twins, which is fun. ...pricing is fair and reasonable, portions are large. The not so good - (And this is nit picking in the extreme!) ... the complimentary salsa and chips. The chips are on the low side of average snd the salsa is just boring. Yes they're free - but an improvement in quality would be inexpensive fix and elevate the first impression of your meal. Oh, and topping the polla sopa with some crispy tortilla strips would send it into the stratosphere. But truly nit picking.... .,.. it's right on 23 but easy to miss as it's in a tiny shopping center where almost all else is out of business. Plus it sits way down and back from the road - which also means their cell service is horrible. Not that one needs to be on their phone during dinner, just sayin' - don't count on web surfing. Stopped here for lunch and was not disappointed. Lunch special with enchilada and Chile relleno was very good. I liked that the relleno sauce had some bite to it. They make their own salsa so the chips disappeared fast! I like this style of Mexican food, so we will be back. read more

I came to this restaurant for lunch and had exceptional food, the tacos were amazing! Sadly we came for dinner and the food/service was lacking significantly... the wait was over 30 mins for food and an older gentleman had ordered ahead for takeout and arrived and he waited longer than we did for our food to arrive. The tacos barley had any meat, instead they were filled with lettuce and tomatoes. It was almost like a vegetarian taco unfortunately. The sangria was awful and tasted like a sour concentrate. When we mentioned it to the server he stated "we all tried it in the back and it tasted fine but that's okay". When the bill arrived we were shocked to see that the rice (one small scoop) was $5, one order of plantains (4 small plantain halves) was $6, and the cheaply made tacos were $7.50 for 2. Extremely disappointed, the only reason this place got 2 stars was because we did have a good lunch here the first time. read more
