2nd visit. Chuey's special was recommended. Solid showing. You must like beans. Choice of steak or chicken topping a bean burrito, swimming in a gravy and cheese sauce. Most surprising American/Mexican dish I've had in a while. The gravy had notes of a traditional brown gravy. Ordered a side of rice,extra. Added some much needed texture and soaked up that gravy. Great spot. When I moved into this area some neighbors brought me here for lunch. On Wednesdays, you can get tacos, hard or soft shell (some of the girls even ordered them with no shell and ate that with a fork) for $1.25 (normally they cost $2.55 - $2.75). I placed an online order for a steak fajita quesadilla with Spanish rice and a side salad with beef (beef on the side for the salad) and I was served a Cheese Quesadilla with Steak Fajita meat and veggies on the side and no salad at all!!! I returned to the restaurant for them to correct their error and was given the same food with the steak fajita meat placed inside of the now cold cheese quesadilla and a side salad without any beef at all.. by the manager, of all people. And when I told him this was not remade and it was cold, he assured me that it was just cooked and I said you have to be kidding!! We stumbled upon this place several years ago, and were somewhat reluctant to give it a try. It has become one of our favorite Mexican restaurants that we always enjoy! It's usually just the Queen and I, so we try to sit at the outside bar, if possible. The service is always outstanding and the food is excellent as well! Bought the chicken fajitas for two to go. Was ready shortly after I arrived and was amazed at how much food they gave us. For approx. $30, it was enough to feed 2 people for 2+ meals. Plenty of sides and lots of chicken. An awesome meal and one that we've experienced numerous times when we ate there but take out was very generous. I have always love this place that I come here and bring friends and family at least once a week. Today, I had lunch with my daughter and the server(Cruz) was horrible. I never got a refill for my drinks. After he dropped off our food he immediately walked away without giving me a chance to ask for stuff I needed(hot sauce etc.) Tortillas was hard so I had to wait for someone to walk by to get it replace and to get me hot sauce. By the time I got the hot sauce and the soft tortillas my food was already cold therefore my steak was already well done. Well I'm a foodie critic when it comes to fajitas. I don't care where I'm eating Mexican it's ALWAYS fajitas for me. This restaurant was not one of my best in Atlanta. The food was good but seems like that Mexican authentic flavor was not there. However; they still get a 4star because the customer service that I received was 100%. Never did I need anything. Every time I pass by -- generally on Sundays -- the lot is filled with cars. And since they're the only business open, I have to assume everyone's there for MaGueys. And now I see why. Great local restaurant! Really nice staff! Good food, reasonably priced! And potent frozen margaritas! A double portion of the Los MaGueys fajitas can comfortably feed three. (With leftovers!) Loaded with shrimp -- the big kind! -- steak, pork, chorizo, chicken, this is a filling and really delicious dish. The meal comes with plenty of rice, refried beans and salad with a good dollop of tasty guacamole. The off hour that we came -- between lunch and dinner -- the restaurant was filled with people, many of whom were regulars. I look forward to returning on a Saturday, when the neighboring antique store that houses McIntyres Bakery -- hopefully the same McIntyre's in Smyrna! -- is open. read more

It's been awhile since we stopped here. The food is terrible, so bland with no taste. It is always crowded, the parking lot is full, probably because it's the only "restaurant" nearby with a full bar and the outside area for lots of smokers! I guess they have music sometimes but the few times we ate here because it was late and the only place open. We have relatives and friends who live in this area or once would have been enough. The only good part was the servers, efficient and friendly but they can't make-up for the food. read more

I don't think I'll be back to this spot. I had the #17 combo: beef enchilada and beef burrito. The meat that was used was very dry and had little flavor. It was finely minced beef that needed a lot of help from the sauces. I relied on the red enchilada sauce more than I expected. I will say that their rice and beans were pretty tasty. But I can't tell if it was offset by the experience I had with the main part of the meal. My wife had the shrimp quesadilla and that was actually not bad. I had some major buyers remorse after trying hers. This place looks like a really fun place to come and hang out after work or on game day. They have a HUGE outdoor patio that is covered and can handle all weather. Other than that, I don't think I'll stop by this place for a meal. read more

New place on Dallas highway DEFINITELY a great competitor for la parilla (our usual go to place) service was great and food came out quickly. We both got the magueys special which was chicken and shrimp over rice covered in queso. It was soooo good and was a huge serving. They are also practicing great social distancing. I've been to Los Magueys a few times now for excellent food and drinks with my friends. Do not judge this book by its cover. Upon arrival you will see a small restaurant located along side of a gas station. You will also notice that parking is always typically full. Theres definately a reason why. Upon entering you will be immediately seated where you like which also includes an exterior area used for live music on weekends as well as bartender for immediate drinks. The employees are very attentive and immediately ask for a drink order. Fresh homemade chips and salsa on the table is a must. The food here is amazing and served fast while still sizzling on the plate. Flavor as well as portions at an exceptional value can be found here. Ask for a Large Margarita and you will be astonished at the drink you are served. Delicious and massive. I was definately in my happy place. We plan on returning very soon and we all definately deserve our Margarita afternoon after the Covid crisis. Thank you Los Magueys for always making us happy! read more

Good food , fast service but environment is always loud. Fast and efficient for a fast lunch but can also accommodate large parties.

Given all the excellent reviews, we decide to make a little drive to try the place out. It was okay, but just okay. I guess I was expecting something more. No real complaints, but nothing outstanding either. The restaurant itself is a small place at the end of a little strip with a gas station. Parking at peak times is a problem, though you can always park in the nearby McDonald's or Kroger lots and walk a little bit. The atmosphere is mom-and-pop Mexican; typical Mexican paintings, neon beer signs and some beer paraphernalia. The bathrooms are single-seaters and a bit worn. Not immaculate, but not terrible dirty. The food was good, as was the service. It didn't particularly stand out to me from any other Mexican place, but we enjoyed what we got. The server did a great job keeping our chips, salsa, and drinks filled, and was courteous, but didn't offer any to-go cups. The fried ice cream dessert was great and had a nice presentation in the way they drizzled the syrup. It's a good place for Mexican, but I wouldn't give it a rating beyond good. read more
