Solid Mexican food! The chicken taco plate is amazing! Great beans and rice, they use white meat for the tacos and the sopaipillas are amazing. Everyone in my party loves their dish regardless of what they order! Sweet wait staff, and always plenty of parking and even is their small dining area we've never had to wait for a seat. When we ate onsite recently twice- the server is so much in a rush she has her foot planted the other way as if to leave and never fully stops in front of the table - half of her body is at the table next door, just her head and shoulders are at the table. We're visiting Las Cruces from Texas and decided to try this place for breakfast yesterday. Overall, service was nice, prices were decent but the food wasn't the greatest. I guess chile con queso is a little different here because I expected more of a cheesy sauce so I didn't really touch the gorditas. We asked for bacon, potato and cheese tacos and received huge tortillas filled with only bacon. When we mentioned the issue the waitress said she didn't know what tacos were so she was confused. They ended up just piling in some potatoes and non-melted cheese in the tortillas. Other plates, like the chorizo and egg burrito was delicious (my mom ate it all). We decided to try the sopailas but unfortunately they were nothing special. A little doughy and it tasted kind of raw in the middle. I love this gem here in Las Cruces. The salsa has great flavor but could use a little more heat. That's not a big deal at all since it tastes so good. The red sauce they use on their enchiladas is phenomenal. That red chile sauce has the perfect flavor and spiciness to set off anything they put it on but a good ole cheese enchilada is wonderful. The crunchy tacos aren't like a lot of other places in town that use the ground beef. These guys use a shredded beef that is full of flavor and to die for. The same beef is in the rolled taco so it is wonderful also. If you find yourself up off of Highway 70 or maybe going to the flea market, you should drop buy and get some food here. That is out of around seventy Mexican restaurants in the area. Today I found the restaurant exceedingly clean, colorful, well maintained, comfortable, and well lighted. The staff was quite personable and efficient. The restaurant was doing a brisk business at the drive up window. Inside the service was very good. The chips were thin and just ok. There are much better. The salsa was a bit weak and just so-so. Rate it a "B-," not any better than you buy in the grocery store. The food prep time from order to food on the table was quick...about ten minutes. The red chile con carne burrito had some refried beans and large potato chunks. The red sauce was pretty good but not outstanding. Rate the burrito a "B+." The green chile burrito was a little better and a bit higher on the heat scale. Rate it a "B+" to an "A-." Very good to excellent. All in all, today was a very good dining experience. Very good food if not quite exceptional. Rate Los Mariachis around Four and a Quarter Stars...meaning very good. My two stars is for their burrito, specifically the carne asada burrito. I was severely disappointed by the portion of the burrito especially considering it was $8. Other burritos in the area for the same price are usually double the size of what I received. I will say that I ordered mine without beans because I know that's a trick to use less meat. I'm an average sized guy and I devoured my burrito within 6-7 bites. I finished about 30 min ago and I'm still hungry. Decided to come here for a quick dinner. 8.75 for an enchilada plate not bad.... chicken was 1.50 extra which was fine. Pretty standard... however come home to find out there's no chicken at all. I lifted each layer to look and it was just an ungodly amount of cheese (which woulda been ok if there was chicken to balance it out) gave 3 stars because the rice and chili was tasty.
