My son who lives up north in Rio Rancho loves Delicias Cafe's enchiladas suizas. I decided to order a platter to take them to him the following day, so I refrigerated them. It is a three enchilada platter with a side of refried beans, rice and a cup of soup. I asked to replace the soup for another order of rice. The food was almost $16 + tax and tip I paid $18.98. My dining experience today at Delicias Cafe was about Four and a Quarter Stars....meaning quite good. The table I dined at was a bit wobbly, the refried beans were mediocre at best, (as they have always been!) and the chips and salsa were below average. On the positive side, the food was prepared and on the table quickly, the service was really efficient and pleasant, and the atmosphere was fine. Today I ordered my favorite meal at this restaurant...their Carnitas Plate. The chips were ok...nothing special. Rate them a "B-." The salsa had a pronounced tomato flavor and consistency. Rate it a "C." It was equivalent to that found in an Old El Paso jar. The refried beans were mushy and lacking flavor. They have never improved these over the years. Rate them a "C" or perhaps a "C-." The Spanish rice was fairly good. Rate it a "B." The meal was accompanied by a bowl of beef and vegetable soup. The soup was fairly good with some large beef chunks and freshly cut vegetables. But, the broth was a bit weak. Rate the soup a "B." Good but nothing too special. Three white corn tortillas accompanied the meal wrapped in foil. But, the reason why I return to order this meal is the Carnitas Pork itself and the special orange sauce they serve with the pork. Simply put, their preparation of the Carnitas pork is "PERFECTION." The pork chunks are slightly crisp on the surface and tender and juicy inside. The flavor is superb. Rate the Carnitas an "A" meaning exceptional. The special sauce they serve with the Carnitas is also top drawer. Delicious. Rate this sauce also an "A." Overall, the quality and flavor of the Carnitas and sauce overcome the negatives about dining here. The Carnitas pork is the best to be found in the city. read more

This place doesn't deserve 3.5 stars. The wait staff is friendly, they are always available and prompt with their chips and salsa. Coming from California this place is an awesome experience. The ambiance is bright and colorful and with the locals showing I ok in 12-24 size parties, they are willing to accommodate any one. The kitchen staff is fast and accurate. Tips and how much to tip should be the customer's choice and left to their discernment and not a mandate because the restaurant does not wish to raise staff wages. We ordered a vege omelette and a spinach omelette. They did not offer cheddar cheese although the menu stated they offer cheddar cheese. The omelette was a bit overcooked so a bit dry. The hash browns were a very slim portion and a bit overcooked. Loved the decor and ambience was festive and colorful. Food server very friendly and efficient. read more

Ordered Chiles en Nogada and beef taco plate. The chiles and tacos were very good. The chiles were stuffed with a mixture of ground beef, apples, almonds and other ingredients...it was delicious. The only down side was the tepid sweet cream that covered the chiles was tepid/cold, so it cooled the chiles down. Pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top was a nice touch. Tacos were very good. Plate came with rice and refried beans. The beans were tasteless. Rice, okay. Ambiance...we went there for dinner, early evening, the restaurant was nearly empty. We seated ourselves in a booth near a window. While walking to the table we noticed flies everywhere. Not just a few, lots of them. We almost walked out, but stayed. The flies pestered us during our entire meal. We should have left. Well, we are not going back. This is restaurant hygiene 101. There is no way servers and management were not aware of the flies. Service was friendly and decent. Although our server did forget to bring a beer that I ordered, so we had to ask someone else to get it. We have eaten here many many times now. I believe it has the best red salsa for chips in town (Green #1 goes to Nopalitos). We often bring home to salsa when we dine here. Posole. That is all. The best and only green posole I have found in town. Two sizes. Just get the big one. You can take home the extra - if there is any. The huge buttered bread is greasy enough to add great flavor when you dip it in the soup. This is my favorite posole in town. But three's nothing here that's not good depending on your taste. This is very authentic Mexican food. I often stop by to get food to go. It's pretty quick. I've never had a to go order messed up here either! read more

First time here and can't say it was worth a repeat visit. I had the panela flautas. They came with rice and beans and the typical toppings plus panela crumbles on top. They were standard. I got a caldo de res t hff at valve with it and it was pretty bland. My husband tried the menudo but it too was pretty basic. We got a side or gorditas de chicharron prensado and those were pretty pork tasting. I did not like them. The serve you chips and salsa and the salsa was too tomatoey and not spicy. I get there and come to find out they were out of Chile relleno, which is fine, simply order something quick and easy. So, I got a Red chile meat burrito with beans. I got to work and the first few bites were good. I started to get pieces of meat and literally all the pieces of pork I got were nothing but fat. It killed the vibe. Ended up throwing it away. Delicias café is one of the few places in Las Cruces where you can find chilaquiles, and they're good! Their hangover recovery special is excellent, I recommend it a lot. The restaurant is gorgeous because the decoration includes many details from the Mexican culture. Prices are affordable. Great place! read more

The servers weren't doing anything and couldn't even have to decency to clean up their own tables. There was food fragments all over the floors, seats, and tables. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is amazing and very reasonable. The establishment was clean and they always were sanitizing after each customer was finished and had left. Our server was Yesenia and let's just say she was extremely friendly and attentive to us and extremely helpful. I ordered the Gordita with a side of rice and green chili on the side. The hamburger was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor and the chili was creamy and had just the right amount of spice I really enjoyed this place from their service to their food it was amazing. I ordered a spinach omelette with feta cheese and asked for grilled onions and double the beans, no rice. I originally asked for whole beans & they said they only serve refried beans. They brought my order and the onions were not grilled, they were big and chunky. They brought a second order of the same thing and the cook didn't put any feta in the omelette and they did not double the beans. They brought cold feta, which really didn't taste good because it wasn't cooked with the omelette which was part of the order. The worst thing was that their so-called refried beans were clearly out of a can. They had no flavor. By this time, my friends were already done with eating their food. I didn't want them to fix my order because I would be the only one eating. Needless to say, I didn't eat their food. They did not apologize for messing up my order two times! They didn't offer refills. My husband's so-called steak & eggs came and should have been called paper and eggs because their steak was as thin as paper and had no flavor to it. read more

Was in Las Cruces for work when I was fortunate enough to happen upon Delicia's. I think I was looking for a different spot, but I got lost and found Delicia's. Being from So Cal, I love me some ghetto style, simple, extremely fattening Mexican food. And based on this lone sample, I would put New Mexico right behind California as far as good homey Mexican grub. (I did shove a gas station green chile, bean and cheese burrito down my throat the night before and was quite impressed.) It had been over 20 years since my last stop in NM, so I had to reacquaint myself with the red and green chiles. Unfortunately, my travel companions insisted on Olive Garden (WTF??) the night before. I was out voted three to one. So I had one shot in the morning to get it right before my flight when I found Delicia's. And get this...I am not much of a breakfast person, but my meal there was awesome! I had the Huevos Divorciados, medium. They were awesome. It was hash browns, beans with cheese, and one egg on a tortilla with green chile, and one egg on a tortilla with red chile. Delicious, and very simple. I definitely got my chile fix. Less than $11 for breakfast special, iced tea, tax ,and tip. The complimentary chips were nothing too special, but the salsa was the bomb and had some kick to it. It is a very basic set up, basic and simple. To me, that is part of the charm. As Orion S pointed out, yes, the wait staff looked like they were dressed for a night at "da club", complete with high hair and heavy eye makeup. I loved it. Again, for me, part of the charm. And my waitress with the low cut top was on point! Cute and friendly to the one vanilla in the joint. It must have been clear I was an out-of-towner, and she made sure to invite me back when I return to Las Cruces. She was a cutie, as was most of her co workers. That is worth a + 1/2 star, at least! No shame in their game. I mean, we know that most restaurants use Mrs. Butterworth's containers refilled with generic pancake syrup. We know this, so don't assume we are idiots. Delicia's, however, had Great Value (WalMart brand) syrup on the table. I love that! If I ever find myself in Las Cruces again, I will be certain to stop by Delicia's and try their lunch or dinner.
