Perhaps this a good choice for Mexican in Phoenixville, but a short trip to Norristown provides much better Mexican cuisine. But it still beats On The Border type Mexican. Each time I go there the staff is friend food is great- served quickly and listen to my needs- I have food allergies.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I ordered 70 dollars worth of food in which none of what i ordered was correct.... i brought the food back and explained to the 2 owners that it was incorrect, and they proceeded to tell me it was my fault and i misunderstood! they refused to remake my order or give me any money back! After going back and forth with them for 15 minutes the wife called the husband who came out of the kitchen and raised his voice at me and threatened to call the police on me, and told me to leave! A couple who was eating at the restaurant approached me and gave me their number to contact them if anything went wrong, I in fact called the police myself but was told I would have to take them to civil court because they refused to make right that they messed up my order!!! never in my life have I been treated with such bad service I could never imagine this! I'll be doing everything In my power to tell everyone i know about my experience because I do not wish this experience on anyone! these people should not be in business! please pass the word! read more

I've been coming here, mostly for lunches, for the past 5 or 6 years. They have a great mon-fri lunch special for less than $6. My favorite is the authentic 4 soft taco special. These are real tacos with just meat, onion and cilantro (corn tortillas of course). If you want tacos with lettuce, cheese, etc. they have the "tex mex" variety. Also great are chimichangas and tostadas. I can't vouch for much else but my husband swears by their fajitas. The beverage cases have some interesting picks, too. I like to try new things but probably won't pick any gems like the aloe drink I tried again in the future. Also the owners are genuinely nice people. They always remember and ask after my friends and I. Give it a shot for lunch sometime! read more

Nice hole-in-the-wall place. Not very busy and food for decent prices. Food is pretty good. Nothing too special, but better than I personally make at home. Our group got caught not having cash, even though the door has the credit card sign. Had to send someone to an ATM to get money to pay while the other stayed and watched Wheel of Fortune on the small TV in the corner. read more

I have to start by saying that I'll never be happy with Mexican food in the East, because I'm from Colorado. That said, the food here was ok for Pennsylvania. The inside of the restaurant was cold...even the employees were wearing jackets. The tortilla chips were nice and thick, and the guacamole was some of the best that I've ever had. I long for good tamales, and these were decent. I just wish that they weren't served dry. Next time, I'd ask for a side of enchilada sauce. I'm used to the southwest style, where burritos and tamales come "smothered" in either red or green chile sauce. It was hard to get through 3, dry tamales. The beans were tasty, but barely warm. My friends enjoyed their rellenos and enchiladas. No one came by to ask if we needed anything else, or to refill our water glasses. No one brings the check to the table...you have to go to the register, which is inconvenient for figuring the tip. Their loss, I would imagine. I recommend that they turn the heat on for winter, and pay more attention to the customers. We were the only ones in there, the entire time! read more

OK, I feel bad bashing a place that is so obviously a small family run local eatery but what a big disapointment.! We got Tacos - chicken, spicy pork, and tongue. They were very small, dry and bland (including the "spicy" pork), but they only cost $2 each. I could have salvaged each taco if I had been provided a little additional salsa, cheese, fresh tomato or hot sauce, but it wasn't offered. The only item we liked was the guacamole whic was really good and fresh. We added the guac to our Nachos which consisted of just chips and cheese - nothing else like lettuce, tomato, salsa, ect. A side of rice was mushy, bland and had absolutely no mexican flair or flavor whatsoever. Their atmosphere is nonexistent, unless you are into a bright lights/ soda machine/no music/TV on in the corner kind of place. Don't think I want to give this place another try. We were there on Saturday night and the place was empty. Too bad. read more

I've had my share of hole-in-the-walls, and usually they're like diamonds in the rough. The real deals. Authentico. Not Lost Mariachis. They might be Mexican, but the food just wasn't right. It started with difficulty placing my order with a younger man who seemed normal, but might have been on another planet. I was clear in my order, but was asked by someone else what I wanted. Ok. So, after placing the order and paying, we waited about 10 minutes in the restaurant- zero warmth, zero ambiance, zero... anything really. Before the food came out, I was called to the register- they'd made a mistake and charged me too much. Ok. I took a few sodas and some extra salsa to make up the difference. Food came out and we went home to enjoy/examine our food. Tortilla chips were thick, stale, nasty. Threw them out upon first bite. Rest of the food was bland. I've given up on finding good Mexican food in this area. I'll have to get my fix in next time I'm in VA- El Charro can out cook these places with their eyes closed and hands tied. Always on the lookout for an awesome taqueria since we moved from south Texas. Took the fam on Friday night for dinner. We had the restaurant to ourselves with the exception of one other table. Wife had enchiladas verdes, daughter the chicken flautas, me the tacos al pastor and son a quesadilla. The only meal worth noting was the tacos which were flavorful and done up right with the exception of the corn tortillas which were on the wet side like theyd been steamed. The flautas were light on chicken and what there was had gotten so tough in the dryer as to be inedibly tough. The enchiladas were close to tasteless as were the rice and beans. Prices were reasonable but the food was way subpar. If you can afford the drive there is much better authentic Mexican in Manayunk or Conshohocken. read more
