I was so excited to go and eat here since my first time at The Roanoke branch years back was good. They sat us quickly at 11:15 am, chips were fresh and crispy and we devoured it quickly . I looked forward to my chicken mole and fajitas which were the reasons why we went there in the first place but to my dismay when they tasted like sea water ! Everything was so salty . The mole sauce , the fajita meat, the frijoles and even the rice . My son's chilaquiles was sooooo tangy! The server was very apologetic but I was not sure if he communicated to the chef my concern. If they're not pre-made, I'd recommend that you specify that you want your food less salty. read more

Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? Mansfield or Western Center? Doesn't matter! This little chain is absolutely my favorite (and I'm so happy to have one reasonably nearby). We were excited to try breakfast last Sunday, and although we were running later than desired (about 11:30am) they did not bat an eye when asking if we wanted lunch or breakfast & we chose the latter. I ordered the Machaca & my date ordered the burrito. Huge portions! The shredded beef was so flavorful!! They have a nice queso as well. Now a word of explanation...as every Tex-Mex place seems to have a quirk of one kind or another when it comes to chips & hot sauce...they will bring you two cups of sauce. If you like a kick, mix them together. It is one of the best hot hot sauce around. We have been seated in the bar and in the dining room. It does not seem to matter, because the service is top notch. I am also a huge fan of their Chile Rellenos. Again, theirs is one of the freshest I have had. The Western Center location was always SO crowded that it is a bit shocking to be able to walk in & get a seat, but I expect the Mansfield crowd will figure out what they have here & change it soon! read more

After our favorite Mexican food joint closed down (RIP Maíz Cozina!!) my guy and I were hungry for a place we could call our own. We need a regular Mexican food restaurant where we can go to relax, eat good food, drink perfect margaritas, and enjoy attentive service. Los Molcajetes is now the spot! Initially, we were exhausted, and had given up on trying to find a new place, and had headed to Texas Roadhouse. Well, the wait was outrageous, so I said, "Let's just go there," and pointed to the next restaurant in the parking lot. Luck was on our side! After just a short wait, we were lead to a comfy booth, where we were promptly greeted by a runner, then our server, and chips, and 2 salsas, and water, and everything flowed on at a good pace for the entire meal. Our server was funny and on top of her game, which we made sure to tell the manager. Queso with ground beef + salsa = happy! The chips are light and crispy. We ordered Al Pastor and Barbacoa plates, which are massive, and "Perfect Margaritas." I was so happy with the food, the freshness of the tortillas, the drinks, I can't even say. We happily ate up most of (not all!) our leftovers the next lunch time with scrambled eggs. It was just as good the next day. No joke. I think that was Friday. Yelp didn't steer us wrong on this place, 5:30 on a Thursday is a great time to visit, not many people there, staff all wearing masks, which made us happy. We were seated immediately, server showed right up, took our drink and queso order, my husband asked for recommendations, very knowledgeable about the menu and the taste of the food. When she said her grandmother makes good mole and this place has good mole I knew it would be good. I had the Chicken con Mole with sauteed veggies, huge portion of chicken, had to bring half home! We were so glad Texas Roadhouse next door had a line stretching outside...convinced us to try Los Molcajetes instead and boy am I glad we did! We were going to sit on the patio but the music was SO loud (and we like loud music) but this was crazy, so we sat inside. Given chips and salsa quickly (2 different kinds of salsa, a mild, fresh super tomato-y version flavored nicely with onions and cilantro) and then more intense and smokey flavored chipotle type. Both were good and even better mixed together. I didn't like how waters didn't come with the chips...waters didn't arrive until we ordered them with our drinks later. To me, a restaurant should never drop chips without dropping waters as well, but fortunately that was the biggest complaint I can make. As always with us, chips and queso follow...very yummy!!! Good flavor and especially complimentary with the salsas. Again, I was mixing them all together. For drinks, hubby was happy to find his favorite, Dos XX, on tap and they have frozen schooners. A big plus in his book. I had the frozen margarita swirl. Also served in a schooner and SOOOO good. Better than average, IMO. Entrees were good as well. I had the fajita enchiladas which are 3 cheese enchiladas with either chicken or beef on top. My go-to generally if it's on the menu. The meat was flavored so well, I was impressed. Enchiladas are good sized and loaded with cheese. Another plus. Hubby had the taco platter and they were huge! He loved them. Portions are huge so there's LOTS to take home. Came here on a Friday night and it didn't seem to busy. There were 6 of us and the hostess told us give them 5 minutes as there was a table being cleaned. The waitress in that area said she couldn't handle a large table as her area was crowded. I get it so they told us it would be about another 5 minutes. Well it ended being almost 30 but during the waiting the manager kept us updated and was very apologetic. Which made a big difference. Once we were seated he brought a large queso for the table and again apologized for the extra wait and thanked us for our patience. We thought the food would take just as long but surprisingly it was pretty quick. Everything was delicious! Fajitas, enchiladas, tacos-everything was great! Great place for a Mexican Breakfast. Huevos Rancheros is delicious. Wonderful homemade tortillas. The chips are light and crispy and best with their wonderful Salsa Verde. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, they had a playoff game on, they have lots of TVs, though many are blocked by the wheel decor they have. We get chips and salsa brought to us. We order the cheese with ground beef. It was really good, definitely recommend. I got the beef chimichanga. They brought it out very fast and came with rice and beans and a bit of guacamole. It was a good portion for the price and I definitely got full. It tasted good too. Service was good too considering how many tables she had. When we got it I noticed the really large bowl was very shallow. So I asked our waiter for the size of the small. He kindly brought me an empty small bowl.... THE WHOLE LARGE QUESO FIT IN THAT SMALL PRICED BOWL PERFECTLY. Our waiter was so nice and brought me out another small to accommodate the price difference but I hate to think of how many more customers are being taken advantage of. Maybe it's just the Texan in me but no one should ever have to miss out on their extra scoop of queso!!!! Especially when it's paid for. The food we got wasn't bad but the wait service just took way too long and the waiter took the order of a family that was sat and few minutes after us, which I thought was rude cuz she didn't even ask us first if we was even ready to order (which we were). I tried this restaurant for the first time this weekend. Inside the restaurant is decorated very festive and it has about 8 flat screen TVs throughout the restaurant. The type of music selection was not my favorite. They should maybe mix it up with different styles of Mexican music. The sever was a happy young man that was helpful in explaining some of the menu items. We started with some drinks from the bar. Drinks Margarita Michelada The margarita was mixed very well. As for the michelada it was bit spicy for my taste. We order Carne Asada Beef & Shrimp Fajitas Both meals were brought out on a hot skillet which I liked. I always like the skillet option because it keeps your meal warm. The meats were both tender and flavorful.
