To all those complaining about the service fee you would pay that almost anywhere. It actually makes more sense here since they are a smaller place and it's harder for them to accommodate large groups. I'll get off my soap box and say this place is amazing. We tried Los Jarros for the first time about 3 months ago and now it seems it is our go-to AT LEAST once a week. Great Staff, Great Food and Great Prices. I visited this restaurant recently for their tamales. I've visited several times for the tamales. They advertise Chicken and Pork but sometimes they only have one, so I decided to call ahead of time to see what they had today. I called this restaurant at least 9 times, the phone rang, there was never an answer. I drove to the restaurant, walked to the counter and asked if they had both, the employee said they only had pork. I ordered the pork tamales. While waiting for my order, I noticed that it wasn't too busy inside so I wondered why they didn't answer my call. I called again, while standing there and waiting for my order. I watched an employee see the phone ring, turn off the ringer and set the cordless phone aside. She then went back to playing in her coworkers hair. I called again, and the phone ringer was on silent so no one even acknowledged it. After waiting 25 minutes I received my order. I asked for red sauce and was told, the tamales don't come with red sauce. I have been coming here for YEARS and have always been given red sauce for the tamales. As a customer, I did not feel welcomed in this establishment, it felt as if they did not want me there. I will not return. The customer service has always been lackluster, but today was a new low. Beware go all customers when dining at Los Jarros on Randol Mill. This restaurant charged me for 6 meals at my table and thus charged me automatically a $15.00 tip/gratuity fee. I had signed the receipt and added an additional $10 tip. I asked for my full copy of the receipt for number of meals , drinks, appetizers. I finally say the $15 tip added. I only had 5 persons in my dinner party and requested a refund of the over charged of $15 tip. I've been going here to eat since I was in junior high now I am 30 and I've always loved their food. My favorite dish is their chicken flautas. It's a huge serving and it always hits the spot. The chips and salsa are superb. I've ordered extra to go before. If you come late enough, you'll get a cup of free charro beans with your order. Today I felt inspired by the holiday spirit and ordered tamales with a beef tostada, with refried beans and rice. It was fantastic and the portions are enough for a whole meal later. So, even though I'd had little interaction about this place, except for Lisa P., who still hasn't eaten here, I will have to add the next good candidate to your potential eating pleasure. That would be Nachos A Pastor. Pork laid onto chips with refried beans, cheese, and small scoops of guacomole and sour cream. Simple in concept, but satisfying in consumption. I don't know where my great bean soup went, though. Do they not serve it on weekends? I had brought my future someday-soon son-in-law and my someday soon-to-be-married daughter to show off my Tex-Mex discovery. They're from Austin, which claims to have a few good restaurants of their own, so I was anxious to get their input. Unless they were just being polite, the food passed their good eat test with flying colors. (if your English, you'd spell that word "colours", weird, huh?) There were still some things which are keeping it from that 5 Star status. On this visit it was the much too-thin queso and the pre-occupied, and very young waitress. Lately I've been using a platform called Dining Advantage. I was offered a $20 gift card through T-Mobile Tuesdays. (you should definitely check out downloading the T-Mobile app and see what offers are available to you, if you're a subscriber. Normally they give you money off, gift cards or free annual subscriptions to whatever they choose.) Dining Advantage gives you the opportunity to buy coupons for most restaurants here in the community. Prices range from $1-$10, I believe, and gets you decent perks. From there you can take in the coupon or percentage off to the restaurant that you chose and they will redeem the coupon. The coupons that I have bought have been BOGO and I haven't had too many problems using them but for the most part I have mixed feelings. We'll see how that develops as time goes by. Los Jarros had a pretty decent crowd. The menu seemed pretty simple with an optional mariscos menu to accompany. The cheese enchiladas and carne guisada were ordered at my table. While the food was fresh and tasty, definitely not the best... and hardly authentic. The cheese in my enchiladas was still shredded and lacked the melted element. The queso they poured as the enchilada sauce was pretty much the can queso from grocery stores (you know it... red and yellow package wrapping?!) Rice and beans were great but I'd have to question you if you messed those up. Carne Guisada was pretty good. The beef tips were pretty tender and the sauce was seasoned very well (leftovers were even better the next day). Serve those on a tortilla and you'll be happy. This place was about 3/4 full when we came at lunch the other day. Literally every empty table was dirty though and they didn't really tell you to just take a seat so I wandered aimlessly for a bit looking for the least dirty one to sit at. Kind of a shaky start there. Anyway, we ordered lunch specials which are very reasonably priced. ($5-6 bucks). And they came with a good sized serving of food. My other half thought his carne guisada was pretty decent. The chips were decent. Most of my entree was pretty lackluster though. The tamales weren't good at all. The cheese enchilada wasn't bad, but really it's hard to screw up a cheese enchilada. I did not like the beef fajita taco, the meat was very bland. The rice and beans were ok, I've had worse. Really this place fell right into the beanbag I like to call "commuter restaurants". By that I mean, if you work nearby and you don't want to spend a lot of money on your lunch but are sick of McDonalds, this is not a bad option. They give you a good amount of food for your money and there are at least a few decent options on the menu. But, nothing I had was worth driving out of my way for. In the Arlington area, I think Daddy Buelo's is superior and so I can't see myself coming back here even though it really was "A-OK". read more
