What an absolutely amazing smoked marlin burrito!! Huge enough to split which we did. So glad we made the quick walk across the pedestrian airport bridge. Luckily, during the off season there was no wait. Service was quick and friendly. Stop here if you have a chance!
The indescribable beauty of life lies in experiences that bring us closer to the place, to the people that make our food and in some strange way, make us whole. And while this could sound like something from a Delta plane video, there is a lot more reality to such words when experiencing joints like Tacon de Marlin. Places like this are a reminder why grandma's food will always taste better. It's why getting a slice of pizza in New York is a quintessential life experience. And it is also the reason that Tacon de Marlin is a place that is near and dear to the heart of many travelers and locals in Puerta Vallarta. These experiences are interconnected to the hands of those that craft our meals in ways that are profoundly deep. Sure, there is a slightly discomforting giant Marlin hanging from the ceiling. Yet, the story of this place is one of romance, a couple who established the concept of a Tacon: a toasted tortilla filled with delicious seafood. Despite its visual resemblance to a burrito, this is a fundamentally different dish. The shell is uniquely crispy, more flavorful and the ingredients are special. The smoked Marlin with shrimp is the one to get, as without the shrimp, the Tacon can be slightly on the drier side. There is a reason for that combo being a top seller, so deviating may result in either a happy or unhappy surprise. The Pacifico beer is sitting in the corner fridge staring down the guests eager to water down this pocket of pleasure. The experience is made whole by tables that are somewhat communal, thus interacting with other diners is something that a visitor might want to consider, or not. In either case, Tacon de Marlin is a guaranteed moment of pleasure that is connected to its origin like no other.
Located just over the pedestrian bridge to Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport is Tacon de Marlin, a second location of the Puerto Vallarta favorite for Burritos loaded with fresh Seafood and a lack of Rice. Frequently full at lunch time, an outdoor patio and air conditioned inside seating both available, guests are invited to choose from a concise menu averaging approximately 150 Pesos for a sizable portion easily able satiate most appetites. Made to order with casual pacing, the twenty-five minutes between ordering and receiving two Burritos bridged by a cup of Salad and Pickles, everything arrives nicely presented and from the griddled tortilla to Octopus, Marlin, Shrimp, Lettuce and Tomato each bite is dynamic in terms of both taste and texture.
A lot of my friends told me about this spot and how amazing the burritos are, so I had to try it. The food really is very good and since it's so close to the airport, I walked over right after grabbing my luggage. The downside is that the place is super popular and only accepts cash, which creates problems for tourists who have to run around looking for an ATM. They also seem understaffed so the wait can be long and a little chaotic. Overall though, the food is worth it, and being right by the airport makes it an easy stop.

Our first meal upon arriving to PV. We walked across the bridge to get there, literally right there as soon as you get off the bridge. My bf and I both got the combo burrito, I got marlin and shrimp and my bf got steak and shrimp. Honestly we probably could've shared one burrito because it really does fill you up. I could not finish my burrito. I love how they give you a complimentary salad as soon as you arrive. The prices were reasonable

I will miss sol, mar, brisa, everything a good beach vacay should include. I passed on the zip lining jungle viaje & saw no reason to ride on a banana boat. I'm rested. I'm good to go. Staff always fun & friendly. The video this visit was vintage 50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, playboy extrordinario, doing Candy Shop, featuring Olivia. Yes. I'm down. The staff was vibing on classic hip hop.I loved it all.
Those people who transit through the Puerto Vallarta airport frequently know a couple of Pro Tips that casual tourists don't. 1) If you cross the bridge to get your taxi it's about 50% cheaper than the ones at the terminal. 2) Always stop at Tacón de Marlin. I'm not joking: I'll make sure I'm hungry whenever I arrive at PVR because I know there's a great seafood meal in my future. Don't confuse tacos with the tacón: The former is what you're thinking: A tortilla with some fillings, folded in half. The latter is much different: Think a burrito on steroids. You're going to spend $5 to $7 dollars, and the seafood is fresh and grilled on the spot. (They also have traditional tacos al pastor, if you want them.) I usually get the tacón Marlin, which is basically a smoked fish burrito, then popped onto a griddle to toast the outside. And it's FANTASTIC. I'm not telling you to book a flight to PVR solely to enjoy this tacón, but it you did I would not judge you!

Tacos de Marlin. If you work in the airline industry as I do, this spot is famous for their food and the first stop you make when arriving into PVR. So much so that if you are flight crew, and you're not staying the night in Puerto Vallarta, you always send a member of your crew to grab the entire crew food, time permitting of course. Go with the shrimp burrito, it's what they're known for and you won't regret it. If you're a beer drinker, a beer goes perfectly with the burrito, my suggestion is a Pacifico. It's a small place, so if you're dining alone or in a small enough group, you maybe making new friends at the table you're eating at. It was nice to see the "best of" yelp sticker at entrance, made me feel at home.

We stopped here right after the airport, ive been dying to try Marlin tacos for awhile. The space itself is small for larger groups (we had 12) but actually the staff accomidated us SO well! The menu is pretty small, but each thing we had was delicious. It was a great way to start off our trip! read more
CASH ONLY! As you exit the Puerta Vallarta airport, go outside and turn left and proceed to walk over the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the highway. From there the taxis and Ubers are much cheaper and Tacon de Marlin is waiting there to feed you. This "famous" hole in the wall type restaurant is at the foot of the pedestrian bridge and has two smallish indoor dining rooms. CASH ONLY! I ordered the marlin burrito for $155 mxn. First to arrive was a small bowl of salad without the lettuce. It was cut veggies slathered in a sauce and was quite good. About 10 minutes later the burrito appeared. It was halved and large in size. Taste wise it was very good made with fresh Marlin (a PV specialty). Along with a generous amount of fish it also had lettuce and tomato and I enjoyed it. If you are arriving or departing near a meal time, this is a very good choice to grab a bite and is far better than you will find inside the airport. CASH ONLY! P.S. Tacon de Marlin has a second location located in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood too. read more

A lot of my friends told me about this spot and how amazing the burritos are, so I had to try it. The food really is very good and since it's so close to the airport, I walked over right after grabbing my luggage. The downside is that the place is super popular and only accepts cash, which creates problems for tourists who have to run around looking for an ATM. Seriously. You can't leave Puerto Vallarta without trying out their famous seafood burrito. We were lucky enough to order a burrito right before we took off at the airport! SCORE ! This restaurant is a few minutes items away from the airport so if you're starving & just landed, Tacon de Marlin will satiate your hunger. I ordered their famous Marlin/ shrimp burrito. Like come on, the restaurants name is Tacon de Marlin, I have to make sure to try out the best item they have. If you've never had Marlin before , it almost has the consistency of corned beef. If no one ever told me I was eating fish , I would've confused Marlin with meat. I really liked the texture of the Marlin , it was very hearty and the shrimp was delicious. I think the sauces on the side were an amazing with the burrito . The tortilla for the burrito was super soft and pillowy and the sauce made my burrito rich and creamy. I also loved how they had jicama , cucumber , & a carrot salad . It was super refreshing and I liked the creamy dressing. The best part about the burrito was that it was super cheap. It was around $6 . Definitely way better than the nasty $$$$ hotel food. Left Puerto Vallarta satisfied read more

A colleague did a great job of giving me directions how to get to the Uber pickup after leaving the airport but failed miserably for not telling me about Tacón de Marlin at the end of the crossover bridge near the Uber pickup spot. Let me cut to the chase, I had one of the best burritos ever it was Seabass (Marlin) with Shrimp which was absolutely amazing with a very savory sauce. Tacón de Marlin will most definitely be my first meal stop after arriving in Puerto Vallarta the next time, atmosphere and staff were phenomenal cash, Mexican pesos, only so use an ATM at airport after Customs for the best exchange rate buen provecho read more

As a flight attendant we used to be able to order this to the plane when passing through so going to the actual location right outside of the airport was great. Hands down the best shrimp burrito I've ever had ($8 usd). If you dine in you also get a complementary little salad with cucumbers, carrots and a delicious ranch like sauce on top. Small little place but I recommend you cross the bridge from the airport, dine in here and then call your Uber from this place to your destination. You'll both save money (because airport taxis are expensive) and be well fed. read more
Cash only. Across the pedestrian skywalk from the airport. Wanted to try the Crab but they were out :( Ended up getting just the Marlin and Shrimp and a taco to try. Good thing we did since the servings were huge. Pretty much fed our family of 4. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of parking nearby. read more

You're a moron if you DON'T eat at Taćon de Marlin before you go to PVR or elsewhere. Actually, I hope all the yuppies reading this continue to think they're going to get giardia or ass cancer by eating here. More marlin for the adventurous. read more

One of the best meals in PV. I found this place on a list of top 25 eats in PV and there is a reason for it. Of all the good food in the city, it stands out for its simplicity and amazing flavors. We tried the Marlin burrito and it easily stood on its own, though the sauces were just too good to pass up. Annnd it is right next to the airport, so it's the perfect sendoff post vacation. Service is friendly and quick and the restaurant was simple but clean and spacious considering where and what it is. Definitely recommend. read more

We went here because my husband and I were hungry after our flight and since this place is right below the overpass from the airport, we just decided to go here. I got the "Combinados Marlin and Pulpo". Best burrito I've had. We thought it could have been just the hunger, so we went two more times and I'm still at the "best burrito I've had" phase. It's now part of my first agenda whenever I go back Puerto Vallarta. For uber pick up, walk a bit farther away from here because theres a lot of traffic. read more

Convenient spot if you're hungry and got to the airport early! We walked across the bridge with our luggage and found this restaurant for some food. Ordered the shrimp burrito, Marlin burrito, and adoba taco. I would say the marlin burrito was my favorite out of all of dishes we got. They gave us a complimentary cucumber salad to start the meal off. Even with the language barrier, the workers were very friendly and helpful. This place also has AC! Nice for summer days. read more
