CASH ONLY! As you exit the Puerta Vallarta airport, go outside and turn left and proceed to walk over the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the highway. From there the taxis and Ubers are much cheaper and Tacon de Marlin is waiting there to feed you. This "famous" hole in the wall type restaurant is at the foot of the pedestrian bridge and has two smallish indoor dining rooms. CASH ONLY! I ordered the marlin burrito for $155 mxn. First to arrive was a small bowl of salad without the lettuce. It was cut veggies slathered in a sauce and was quite good. About 10 minutes later the burrito appeared. It was halved and large in size. Taste wise it was very good made with fresh Marlin (a PV specialty). Along with a generous amount of fish it also had lettuce and tomato and I enjoyed it. A lot of my friends told me about this spot and how amazing the burritos are, so I had to try it. The food really is very good and since it's so close to the airport, I walked over right after grabbing my luggage. The downside is that the place is super popular and only accepts cash, which creates problems for tourists who have to run around looking for an ATM. They also seem understaffed so the wait can be long and a little chaotic. Overall though, the food is worth it, and being right by the airport makes it an easy stop. read more

This place is right across the airport and right below the foot bridge, making it an exceptionally easy place to eat before a flight. Consider it your last taco/burrito/whatever before you leave! It was recommended to us by one of our local uber drivers, and he said lots of people enjoy eating there. So, we departed our VRBO with enough time to make it to lunch and our flight. Please note that they take cash only but they do accept US dollars if you happened to have run out of pesos by the end of your trip. They have a conversion rate up on their wall. I got the shrimp burrito and my husband got the fish and shrimp burrito. Both were very good portions that left us decently full and not hungry at all on our 3.5 hour flight. The salsas here are delicious and i love the creamy red one with a bit of the spicier darker red one! Everything comes out FRESH and HOT and they do NOT skimp on the seafood. There was shrimp in every bite for me! And it was cool to see the history of the restaurant in all the decor. Service was friendly enough, and food came quickly. De Marlin is a good spot to end and/or start off. Right off the puente (bridge) that connects to PVR airport is where Ubers and buses are allowed to pick up and drop off passengers--if you wanna avoid ridiculous taxi fares. What's at this spot too is Tacon De Marlin. It has decent air conditioning inside and will you off for a decent 500 MX or 30 USD equivalent which gave us 3 Marlin burritos and a Hamas. So my best guess is 120 pesos is good enough for filling burrito that's very tasty. The service isn't quick and they know some English but thats due to the fact that they are packed with people. Those people who transit through the Puerto Vallarta airport frequently know a couple of Pro Tips that casual tourists don't. 1) If you cross the bridge to get your taxi it's about 50% cheaper than the ones at the terminal. 2) Always stop at Tacón de Marlin. I'm not joking: I'll make sure I'm hungry whenever I arrive at PVR because I know there's a great seafood meal in my future. Don't confuse tacos with the tacón: The former is what you're thinking: A tortilla with some fillings, folded in half. The latter is much different: Think a burrito on steroids. You're going to spend $5 to $7 dollars, and the seafood is fresh and grilled on the spot. (They also have traditional tacos al pastor, if you want them.) I usually get the tacón Marlin, which is basically a smoked fish burrito, then popped onto a griddle to toast the outside. And it's FANTASTIC. So much so that if you are flight crew, and you're not staying the night in Puerto Vallarta, you always send a member of your crew to grab the entire crew food, time permitting of course. Go with the shrimp burrito, it's what they're known for and you won't regret it. If you're a beer drinker, a beer goes perfectly with the burrito, my suggestion is a Pacifico. I think the sauces on the side were an amazing with the burrito . The tortilla for the burrito was super soft and pillowy and the sauce made my burrito rich and creamy. I also loved how they had jicama , cucumber , & a carrot salad . It was super refreshing and I liked the creamy dressing. The best part about the burrito was that it was super cheap. As a flight attendant we used to be able to order this to the plane when passing through so going to the actual location right outside of the airport was great. Hands down the best shrimp burrito I've ever had ($8 usd). If you dine in you also get a complementary little salad with cucumbers, carrots and a delicious ranch like sauce on top. Small little place but I recommend you cross the bridge from the airport, dine in here and then call your Uber from this place to your destination. One of the best meals in PV. I found this place on a list of top 25 eats in PV and there is a reason for it. Of all the good food in the city, it stands out for its simplicity and amazing flavors. We tried the Marlin burrito and it easily stood on its own, though the sauces were just too good to pass up. Annnd it is right next to the airport, so it's the perfect sendoff post vacation.
