They had advertised that pianist Stephen Mars's would be playing that night, so I checked out his music on line and got so excited to see him and hear some of his CD of Beatles music that I went with my girlfriend that night to see him. But I misunderstood the hours he was playing from 2-6 and believed he was playing from 6-9. So when we arrived there we were very disappointed to hear he was finished playing. So after we spoke to him for a little while explaining our disappointment, he went back up on stage and played some Beatles music for us and the other patrons despite his shift having ended. There was a pretty decent crowd and everyone loved it. Stephen is really a wonderful musician and truly an interesting and terrific guy! So I would highly recommend the music in The Backroom Live at the Fish House, particularly when Stephen Marks is performing there. Thanks Harry K.

My son ordered two sushi rolls: Mauloa Roll - salmon, cucumber, scallion, crab, fried shallots, and unagi mayo. I ordered: NOT A PEAR IN THE WORLD ($16) - Patrón Reposado tequila, lime juice, Chile Ancho Reyes, prickly pear syrup, and Firewater Tincture bitters. There were very few tables occupied and only one person at the bar. My usual spot was available, so I sat at the bar without hesitation. Greta welcomed me and handed me a menu. I noticed they have a new menu with a very nice design. As usual, they also offer daily specials. To my disappointment, when I tried to order one of the specials the Branzino Mediterraneo & Risotto Greta told me it had already run out. I ended up ordering the Steamed Mussels instead. For my drink, I was undecided between wine or beer, and she recommended the Inedit Damm. The beer was very good you could clearly taste many of the ingredients. The mussels arrived with bread and butter, plus some tasty house made potato chips on the side. The texture and overall flavor were phenomenal you could see and taste the pieces of pancetta and the thin slices of garlic. I ended up using a spoon to enjoy every bit of the broth and ingredients. I also noticed that both the bar and tables have purse hooks, which is a very practical and thoughtful detail. I finished with a glass of white wine and headed home until next time.

The large, open space really made the acoustics travel, and I never had an issue getting close to center stage or leaving the crowds. There was space for everyone and I loved how easy to navigate around. The biggest down sides were definitely cost of drinks and parking. It was $30 for a single well red bull vodka (almost a $10 mandatory service fee and tip), which was insane. The parking is non-existent, so the best bet would be to Uber or Lyft. Regardless, we had an awesome night, and would totally come back to see more sets here.
