My family and I have been big fans of the Pollo Bros. location in Apple Valley since they opened up. I would have rated them at 5 stars. We usually get the 2 chicken family meal. Love the potato salad too! Its been a couple of months since we've purchased from Pollo Bros. and was in the mood for some after a long day of doing yard work. I was feeling lazy to drive to the Apple Valley location, so I decided to send my son to the one in Hesperia, which is only 5 minutes away. He ordered our usual and brought it home. Chicken and sides were good. Even if its the same recipe, its still better at the Apple Valley location. The reason I lowered my star rating is that they only gave two small 3oz containers of salsa for this big meal. He salsas were good, but that's not even enough for my husband's plate. Also the corn tortillas are warmed up in the microwave. This type of warming up of the tortillas gives me a headache. Last thing is they have become really expensive. With taxes, our meal came out to almost $50. I know prices are outrageous everywhere, but honestly I can go to Costco and get a couple of whole chickens for approximately $10. I can make my own potato salad and we always have cooked beans and salsa at home (Mexican -American Momma here). The meal would be less than half of what we were charged here. read more

The last few times I ordered from this location I was not impressed. I thought since it was newly opened it would get better with time. Service and the taste of food has not improved. I will not order from this location again unless things improve. The past few times I ordered, the chicken in my items was mostly dry white meat. Cheese sauce was put on some items that made them soggy and didn't taste good. Additionally, on one order my tortillas and a side order were missing from my bag. I believe the owner needs to get a better manager at the location and should train the employees better. read more

But we have yet only to find one and now Los Pollos is another. It was also very dry. Flaking and crumbling from over cooked. I got the rice with mine. I took 1 bite and threw that into the trash can. Wife opened her salad. Its just cheap iceberg lettuce with a tomato slice on top and some cheese. No dressing anywhere to be found. Not worth the $10 price when all I ate was the overcooked chicken. This critique is ONLY for the Los Pollos Bros on Main St. in Hesperia. First, when I walked in (with my family) to have dinner they were playing obnoxiously loud Mexican-rap music. Not a good sign but I figure perhaps the food may be worth it. My wife ordered 3 meals: chicken taco plater, a tostada bowl salad and nachos for my 7 year old. I walked over to the bar and ordered 2 margaritas. They did bring the drinks to my table but they were very sweet; a thumbs down. Now the food: they called our order (they don't bring it to your table) and when we sat down we noticed that there were no utensils. Not a big deal right? Yeah but my wife DID order a freaking tostada salad bowl. How do you forget utensils with THAT kind of order? I had none either and there was NO SALSA or HOT SAUCE to go with the tostada salad or the chicken tacos. So I had to go back to the counter and ask for utensils and salsa. They only handed me one salsa (for the entire meal) so I ask for 2 and they did so. Also, my chicken taco plater was supposed to come with a drink and they didn't provide that. Now I didn't make a stink about it because I was working on an over-sweetened margarita. Also, my boys nachos: they were what you can call 'ballpark nachos' or 'cinema nachos'. The melted cheese was similar to the type at 7-11; nothing authentic about it at all. All the meanwhile my son was complaining about the loud Mexican-rap music. My chicken tacos and my wife's tostada salad bowl tasted very domesticated to say the least. It was very much like El Pollo Loco. Not horrible like Taco Hell or Hell Taco but plainly domesticated. The bartender forgot to make me a second round of margaritas only because we wanted another one to finish the meal with. So yeah, the service was left to be desired and the food is waayy over-rated when I look at the reviews here. But you go right ahead and see for yourself. read more

I come here all the time the food is GREAT! Always coming out with new things to try. The only problem this place has is a lack of customers dining in the bar. Every time I come here we are the only ones here. And I'm going to be the only one to say it because nobody else will....THE MUSIC IS HORRIBLE. They play that funky Brazilian dance music that gives you a headache. Play some corrido for heavens sake.
