Our waitress was rude. She took our orders and never came back. Other waiters had to check up on us and deliver our food. Eventually she came back and we asked her for ranch, a second time. She finally got it and came back. She got my order wrong and i asked for beans. The beans came in a huge bowl bigger than my plate and tasted awful. Weekend trip to South Haven and wanted to try out the new Mexican restaurant. When we get there it's really nice inside (I'm from Chicago so reminds me of the restaurants out here) Very nice! But once we sit down the waitress comes to our table the mood changes. Negative vibes! Like she was in a bad mood. It wasn't busy! We begin placing our order from the menu (btw we are Hispanic so we know the difference between all the Salsas, carne asada, queso, tortillas ...etc) also everything in the menu looks delicious! But it's deceiving! I ordered the Carne Asada El Rancho .... it's supposed to be Arrachera with frijoles de olla.. nope that wasn't skirt steak and I got fried beans and no salsa roja de chile de árbol. Oh don't let me forget about the appetizer Choriqueso! Omg! I can't believe they made it like this! With Swiss cheese! We mexicanos don't eat Swiss cheese! Bring the Chihuahua queso fresco come on! They've only been open 10 days so I'll try to keep that in mind with the hope it will improve First thing I noticed is we walked in and we're not acknowledged by the hostess who had her face in her screen. She obviously knew we were there. Eventually we were acknowledged and seated. At a table by the window, the ledge had rice on it. So even though it was new and nicely decorated I wouldn't say it's kept clean. We were promptly served chips and salsa, by the bus boy. The salsa was strong on garlic and somewhat runny but that's ok. I would say it's average. No one brought silverware or napkins so my husband eventually got some for us. (Only because we both needed a napkin.) Our waitress walked by once with NO acknowledgement of us. When she came, she took our drink order which was fine. Came back again for our food order. She then left us almost the rest of our visit (she was within view and not busy with other customers, just appeared to be very inattentive). My husband ordered fajitas. They came out sizzling and a large portion with 2 flour tortillas but no toppings or rice/beans. So he couldn't eat it until it had become lukewarm My plate of tacos came later but no limes or rice/beans. I did ask the busboy(the only person who was paying any attention ) for limes. He forgot so we asked another worker. After a long time I got them. So had to eat cold tacos without the rice and beans we were told rice and beans were coming but they also took a long time. The bus boy actually checked back on the limes so that was nice. Another lady (also seemed to be a busser) actually checked on me and that's how we got the rice and beans and she offered more chips and salsa. I get it that they're new and timing for foods being ready isn't perfected yet But the service issues are inexcusable. A little kindness and attention would cover up a lot of problems. Kudos to the 2 "bussers". The waitress was one of the worst we've ever had. We'll try this place again in a couple months, hopefully they will be better by then. If not, they won't make it, even in this town with a captive audience! The food was good overall so I really hope they work on service issues. read more
