I've tried a few things but today I ordered the birria taco special with beans and rice and a drink, the king fries (carne asada fries with grilled shrimp, chipotle sauce, guacamole, cotija cheese, and poco de gallo), and horchata. There is plenty of indoor and covered patio seating with limited outdoor uncovered seating. I love that they have several tv's on site to watch sports games and random network tv. They cooked a napkin into my fish taco. I have been here many times and spend 100's of dollars at this place. For some reason they decided to put a napkin in some sauce and stick it in my fish taco and serve it to me. When I confronted them about it they acted like it wasn't a big deal. Typically, when I write or talk about Los Reyes, I am raving about how satisfied I am with whatever I've purchased. I still feel that way, but I am tremendously disappointed about the service I received today (1/23/25). Just about noon, I ordered my usual (see last paragraph), with an order of french fries. It is hands down, my go to meal and I rarely vary when ordering. Once the order came up, I noticed no fries in the bag. When I brought this to the attention of the employee, he was visibly annoyed and told me that, "in the future" I should say, "and a "side of fries." In the entire 11-12 years I've visited Los Reyes--foregoing their busy competitor across the street, the mistake of putting fries inside the burrito has only happened once. When that did occur, the (much younger) order taker laughed it off, apologized, and reordered. This time, just the opposite occurred. I was put off by today's cashier's negative attitude, his lack of customer service skill, and complete absence of emotional intelligence. He essentially told me it was my fault. Needless to say, I did not enjoy the meal because his actions were unacceptable, particularly when I patiently waited an inordinate amount of time to receive the "to-go" order. I've been attempting to speak with an owner/manager to discuss this, and called the Market Street location. Again, customer service was lacking. When I called, I was left on hold. After 8 minutes I called back to a busy signal. I called again, was once more placed on hold. This time, after 20 minutes of holding and hearing order after order being taken, someone picked up the phone and hung up. I called back to state my frustration, and "Maria" simply hung up. I called back one last time, and asked for names. She (unwittingly) gave me hers, and the manager's, Julio. Whew! The purpose of such a long review is to share my frustration and impatience with poor service. I have been a loyal customer and have faithfully recommended Los Reyes to many. I've made friends with several of the employees and have watch them grow into respectable young adults. Surely, their lessons in courtesy and good service to the customer didn't come from the older individuals who represent Los Reyes-Broadway & Market Streets. Not sure if I will ever return. The cashier was a young kid but regardless of his age he had a welcoming and bright charm really expressing the holiday spirit. Today must have been an off day for Los Reyes' kitchen, due to the fact there are a ton of reviews and a nearly-five star rating. My parents were in town so I wanted to take them to a nearby restaurant that looked good and had patio seating, and Los Reyes seemed to fit the bill. The lady who took our order was very friendly and was connecting with all the customers, so the experience started off positive. It took me a second to find something I really wanted to try, and I landed on the beef fajitas and a lime margarita. The margarita was pretty sweet, but also very strong for such a little thing. I would come back for some margs. But my food...aye yai yai. First, and most obviously, the plate was hot but the fajitas weren't sizzling. Overall, the food didn't look bad, but I did feel like I was going to get radiation poisoning from the guacamole. It's...kinda the color of cheap store-bought avocado sauce...but I'm not saying that's definitively what it was. I took a bite of the meat and noticed it was sweet? A couple bites later I realized it was all coated in teriyaki sauce, which I was not in the mood for today. I went back to check the reviews for teriyaki sauce and I noticed a couple mentioning a fusion burrito, but nothing about fajitas. I looked at the menu and saw that it didn't advertise teriyaki being on the fajitas at all, so I don't know if it was a mistake or if all the beef is cooked with teriyaki sauce here and I'm the one making the mistake? Hmmm I don't have an issue with fusion food, but this was not it and I went in thinking I'd have a more traditionally-flavored meal. The other sides were not fusion, so the flavor felt very imbalanced. On top of everything else, the rice was mega bland. So I didn't finish any part of my meal, except the tortillas (they include 4). I would *not* order this again or recommend it to anyone, even to others who like fusion food.
