Los Reyes is such a gem in Golden Hill and one of the best Mexican spots in SD in general. I come here often and they never disappoint here. The food is consistently delicious and they've really crafted their recipes to perfection. Their tacos de papa are an absolute delicacy topped with lettuce, crema, cotija cheese, cilantro and tomatoes. The potatoes inside are tasty on their own and the taco is perfectly crispy and crunchy. You can slather your meal in Los Reyes' red or green salsa. Both are absolutely mouthwatering but I like their green salsa just a tad more. Also, they have the absolute BEST BEANS! Like...don't even tell my mama or abuelitas but Los Reyes' beans are better than theirs lol There's indoor seating and a large patio for seating, as well. The patio is fully shaded with a projection screen and other tvs where sports games are shown. It's an absolutely perfect place to grab a bite to eat, a refreshing drink and catch your favorite game. The service here is quick and staff is friendly, too. Plus, they have their own parking lot with plenty of space. Getting in an out is easy here. I HIGHLY recommend everyone give this spot a try. The food was decent but my wife was given a lemonade drink that tasted like pool water. What a great find. I was desperately searching for pozole on a Tuesday and found this place near my house after driving around about an hour to different places. Thank God we weren't grouchy by then. Great pozole. Great cabbage but I'd prefer my radishes chopped up as opposed to whole slices. My friend ate ALL her green enchiladas stuffed with chicken that was very nicely flavored. Drove here after golfing at Balboa Park and let me tell you, IT HIT THE SPOT! I got the Baja Supreme burrito and it was absolutely delightful to eat. The fish was really crispy and added a nice texture to the burrito. The fish and chips included inside was a really nice touch to the burrito that I haven't seen done much anywhere else. Salsa on the side was the perfect compliment of flavor. I got a Pacifico to go along with my meal, but was really tempted to get the freshly made Horchata and juices that looked amazing in the back. Judging from the interior of this eatery, Los Reyes isn't somewhere I would normally choose for lunch. My point is you wouldn't come here for the atmosphere. You come here for the huge portions, quality pricing and tasty food. You can tell the Los Reyes customer base are regular locals. I ordered three grilled fish tacos. As soon as I got my order, I instantly wished I had ordered two tacos because the portions were huge! Each taco had two taco soft shells. The fish was grilled perfectly and dressed with a white sauce, salsa and chopped cabbage and tomatoes. The total bill was approximately $11 which I thought was a great deal. You order and pay first then they give you a number and sit anywhere you'd like. He mentioned that he saw it here on Yelp and it looked a lot bigger but it was smaller than the average size burritos at other taco shop locations. Family owned, great portions, tasty Mexican food with no frills. This is my neighborhood go-to for Golden Hill. I'm a fan of their fresh squeezed juice & that before the pandemic of COVID-19 they let me bring in my mason jar for my juice order. Also they are doing to-go pick-up orders and remodeling a bunch. Service is always friendly here. Not my favorite spot for fries and burritos but their tacos (cabeza tacos) are my go to. And the juice, you can't beat it. Beats paying $10+ at some vegan smoothie açaí place for a large size. Heads up they are not open 24-7, they have a bar and indoor seating and outdoor patio too. read more

I had to leave another review after speaking to many friends about an incident that occurred yesterday on 12/21/23. I want to start off by saying that My wife and I have come here dozens of times and each time the food was absolutely delicious and quickly became one of our favorite Mexican food spots in the area. However, last night we ordered 2 street birra tacos and after having a couple of bites, both of us pulled out these metal pieces out of our mouth. We also ordered rolled tacos and a Chile Relleno burrito and there wasn't any metal in there, which was nice, but either way we obviously both lost our appetite. I went to the front to let them know that we found these metal pieces in our food and handed it to the staff member that was there who was just saying "oh shiit......" over and over while I was telling my story. He offered me something for the inconvience and I said no that's ok, just hope no one else had this experience today. He took the metal pieces to show everyone else and then I left. Sadly my wife and I will not be coming here any time soon.... I am sure (and hope) that this is just a one off situation and it doenst happen again. They pour nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded choose on my carne asada nachos which is different than what I'm used to. It was good enough for me to eat at the moment but I will not buy that again. The service was very unfriendly, not accommodating and pretty from the moment we got there acted like they didn't want us to dine there. We stopped here before we hit the road and I was hangry. We chose this place because of Yelp and the line that was outside. There was plenty of parking right in front, you order through a window and they give you a pager to call you when food is ready, and the customer service was good and they were wearing face masks. We saw on Yelp they have a patio area in the back so we thought we would wait for our food there, but when we went there was too many flies flying around that we decided we would eat in the car.
