Great food and a lot of it. Only downside is their packing for take out orders needs a lot more attention. I had to stop twice to re-situate the packages and finally moved them to the trunk. A Mexican restaurant that is not a place you go typically for gourmet food. And reviewing one as if you were judging a skating event where you're trying to reserve stars for the really outstanding performance just doesn't make sense in this context. While I'll admit I've had better food at a Mexican restaurant this place is definitely five stars. The service is good and the food is excellent. The carafe of salsa is unusual, but it's certainly eliminates having to ask the waiter every 15 minutes for more salsa. I have to agree with others that the salsa isn't outstanding either. But it is serviceable and quite good. Los Rios has become our restaurant of choice when we're in the mood for Mexican food. read more

Okay, this was a strong contender for best Mexican food in the area! Service is swift, which includes getting your salsa and chips pronto, getting your order in and getting your food out in record time! A rarity! I ordered the combination ($8) of soft beef taco, chicken burrito, rice and beans. This was all fantastic even though the rice was a tad bit bland. I could not eat it all! Did I mention the portions are very generous! My husband ordered the lunch menu beef burrito and hard shell beef taco with rice and black beans ($5). Generous portions of delicious food!! We Had leftovers after eating the fastest served, ample portioned, delicious food. Steak fajita for one was enormous. It was an actual mound of steak w well cooked tomatoes, onions and peppers. (2) Chimichanga plate was good sized. Beans were so flavorful. We carried out two boxes of food for leftovers. Mojitos were powerful but cheap at $5. We knew it was good sign when the parking lot was packed! The atmosphere for a Saturday night was lively at 8:30 when we arrived but we were seated immediately. We've been eating at Los Rios since they opened. Everyone is friendly and if anyone sees a drink low or chips about empty, they fill them. Portions are plentiful. I love the Carna Asada steak burrito or the fajita nachos. My husband likes the Los Rios burrito. We'll be moving soon and we will miss the Los Rios gang. read more

Let me start by saying cheap Mexican food. Used to enjoy driving past the local Mexican restaurant and telling the family we are going to cheap Mexican tonight. After the last couple trips I'll pay more at the local place. For instance on my last visit they were busy. Apparently the must have run out of cold beer mugs, because my mug handle was actually hot from coming straight out of the dishwasher. So much for a cold beer. The chip guy failed to bring us chips. As a matter of fact we received our drinks and our food order before we got chips. Our cheese dip sat there with nothing to dip into it. What's the point of going to Mexican if you don't gorge on chips and salsa before you eat. To top it off my wife's grilled tacos came out with peppers after the waiter repeated "lettuce and cheese". I'm only talking about the food when rate this. I had ground beef nachos with were supposed to include melted cheese, right? Instead what I got were tortilla chips, ground beef (I'll talk about this more), a dollop of sour cream and lots of guacamole (more on this). About the ground beef; let me say it had a very odd flavor, much like canned dog food smells, and it wasn't seasoned at all. No garlic, no cumin, maybe salt, and no pepper. It was sorta smooth, not crumbly like ground beef always is. My husband tasted my nachos and says "that's not ground beef!" For the guacamole; again, no flavor. Lemme say if I had gotten just plain mashed avocados I could have added some salsa to it to pizzazz it up. But no, they used unripe avocados which can't be corrected in anyway to cover up the bitter aweful taste. I don't know about the folks who rate this place as anything over a 2*. This was the poorest excuse for Mexican food I've ever tasted. I didn't rate a 1* as the service and waitress were good. read more

Good Mexican Fare! I believe it's the best Mexican Food in Cumming, GA! I enjoyed the Steak Fajita Nachos, something new to me, and they were very good. The Fajita meat was tender, not "much" gristle, smothered in Queso and served with an ample amount of guacamole, sour cream and toppings! Fast, attentive, service. Good prices! I will be back and I definitely recommend! One small detraction, they do not offer pay at table service. That would make checking out easier, faster and better, in my opinion. read more

They were fast and friendly. The chips and salsa were fresh. The extra spicy salsa I ordered and not on the menu was SO SPICY and so good. A little went a long way. Don't let your first impressions keep you away from this restaurant. Located at the end of a strip mall, Los Rios is a Tex-Mex restaurant that puts food first and decor second. Seven of us popped in for an early dinner after attending a high school graduation ceremony. We were seated right away and our waiter appeared immediately with salsa, chips, water and menus - and the fast service continued through our entire meal. If there's one thing I can't resist, it's chips and salsa and I give Los Rios very high marks for both. Their salsa is smoothly pureed but retains good flavor and a peppery bite and they very smartly bring a jug of it to the table so you can replenish your bowl as needed. A few of our party ordered queso and guacamole - the queso is good and the guac rocks. It's very fresh, chunky and we absolutely recommend it. The entrees were equally satisfying - while everyone was happy with their choices, I can personally recommend two: the first is La Parilla - chicken breasts pounded thinly and served over peppers and onions with tortillas, shredded lettuce, pico, and sour cream. The chicken was tender and tasty but take note: the portion is large so bring a big appetite. The second entree I can recommend are the shrimp tacos - grilled shrimp with fresh avocado, sauce and lettuce on soft torillas, served with a side of rice and beans. The shrimp were excellent - wonderful flavor and cooked just right. Our waiter was on top of things throughout the meal, refreshing our beverages, clearing away dishes and generally checking in to see if we needed anything else. There was hardly any product inside of them. I guess you can sell it cheap if you're actually not giving the clients any food. Great food and prices. The appetizers are super intensive and they serve lunch all the time. The grilled chicken is a good deal at less than 7.00 for two chicken breasts, rice and beans. You can usually find a coupon that makes it even less expensive! The steak is not great quality but everything else is very good! Nice low key atmosphere and full bar. read more

We have been going to Los Rios since it opened. Ceasar and his family left El Rio's when it went through a management change and opened this restaurant. It is busy any day you go there and now that they have expanded it's even easier to get a table .Like other post have said this isn't gourmet food it's just what it should be The food is great, margarita's FABULOUS and price is just right. We always have leftovers. Los Rios #2 opened a little over a year ago with Ceasar as part owner. The location of #2 is off Windemere and they each have their own personality. GREAT!!! read more

We have finally re-discovered our fav go-to tex-mex. Hot basket of fresh. thick chips....huge pitcher of mild-side dipping salsa are just the beginning yelpers! Super fast service, too. Short wait time on weekends...use the beeper system. All staff are friendly and helpful. If you ask an employee walking by for something....you don't hear "I'll get your server". I like the old-fashioned combo plates...mix-and-match. Rice and beans with 2 assorted choices. The fajitas look and smell awesome. Gonna have to try that. Full bar,including micro beer.
