Celebrated my birthday with friends and our children. Got there at 5:30pm. My girlfriend told my husband that she called and made reservations for 9 people. When we arrived we gave them our reservation name only to be told they didn't take reservations. So, that was confusing but luckily they were able to seat us right away. The food was really good as well as the menu prices. The margaritas are strong! Good but very strong. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining but sometimes too much tequila can ruin a margarita. I then ordered a beer. Since they were pretty busy, my beer mug was very warm. I just can't drink warm beer. They were happy to replace with an ice cold mug. Server was friendly but not always around. I gave it 4 stars because it was our first visit. We left at 8pm and the line was out the door with new customers so clearly this place is popular. Great Margaritas. Great Chicken Nachos. Great Family Fajitas. This restaurant has great value food for the money spent. They give you margaritas for about $6 that will get you more than buzzed off of one. Pure authentic stuff right there and fair. The queso dip is amazing. And the portions for most meals are too much. Especially the nachos and fajitas. You will most likely not eat all of a fajita order. The prices are very cheap and fair. Only reason this place isn't rated a 5 by me is because it is seriously lacking in the cleanliness department. Food is good, service is good. Don't like that the check doesn't include the total. I always round up a total in my head and sometimes it's been more once we get to the register. If this "mistake" is happening often, I don't see it as a mistake. Check your totals. read more

This place is great! They are reasonably priced and very quick with your food. They have the best Chile rellenos and their house margaritas are awesome and cheap! I'm pretty sure they also never use a microwave unlike Mexican restaurants I've been to recently whose food was cold in the middle. Their staff is always courteous and on top of their game so to speak, you never run out of your drink or chips or salsa. My mom and both of our boyfriends went to have dinner. Food was alright. Very affordable place. But when we got our check and it was $30. We go to pay and ask for the receipt and the girl at the front was rude and wouldn't give us our receipt. We then asked again and she finally gave it to us. After looking at the receipt she gave us and the bank statement. She charged us $60. We called the manager and he was saying that we already left but we were just in the parking lot. He finally gave us the other $30 that the girl over charged us when we went back in. Just wanted to say check your bank statements and receipts. This was my friend's idea to try out. The food was awesome. It tasted great and the seasonings were perfectly blended. They did not overpower the food. They gave us a pitcher of salsa that was mild and bland, but we asked for the spicier one that they have. It was really good, enough to clear the sinuses and make you sweat a little. Ok, had to go because of many that claim this place is the best in Cumming GA on a local FB Page. I have 2 places that I have been going to that are really good (one is fantastic) because of the way they prepare, the flavors and ingredients they put into their mexican dishes. So, finally I tried Los Rios based on what seems to be a FB cult following of this place. Our waiter must have been new and was inexperienced. The chips were ok, but not the best. The salsa was like a red gravy out of a can. I ordered a Burrito with steak as a fair comparison to my usual go to place. Los Rios Burrito couldn't compare. The steak was somewhat dry with not much flavor. Everything else was just so so, ok. Based of what people on a local FB page describe, they must be they type that think Olive Garden is great Italian food, not. I had very high expectations based on what these others say and I'll try it again some day. Maybe it is the only mexican restaurant that they have tried? Sorry to say, I was disappointed probably more because of the expectation and trust of what some people have stated regarding..."Los Rios is the best." I went to Los Rios a couple of months ago. I will never step foot back in there ever again!! As my family walked in we were greeted with chips and salsa. The salsa had absolutely no taste!!! It was terrible and bland. When I received my meal which was three beef tacos, rice, and beans the cheese was half frozen and the rice and beans were awful!!! Also, the meal was way overpriced for just three people. It was like thirty dollars!! If you want quality Mexican food that tastes great and is not overpriced go to El Rio. The BEST Mexican food in the greater Atlanta area. The BESTEST Margaritas (Watermelon is my fav) ever!!! The wait staff are incredibly friendly. The service is fast and you have unlimited chips/salsa. The food is great and you can NOT beat the price! Three of us eat dinner, queso dip and enjoy two margaritas for just over $40........... AND we take home leftovers =)) There is not as much of a wait as there used to be (as of this month) because they opened up the side of the restaurant so there are more tables/seating. Giving this two stars because the service was TERRIBLE. They took forever to give my family and I a table (and it wasn't even busy) and they gave us the worst waitress. We had a young girl named Stephanie and she was so rude. Very snarky and smart mouthed. She got my husband's order wrong and brought my daughter's meal to her cold. She rolled her eyes when I told her to take my daughter's meal back to the kitchen and chuckled when my husband asked for his right order. She also failed to check on us and only came to our table once after bringing us our food the second time after she messed up. Update went like a month or 2 ago. The idiot of a waiter spilled water all over our table by yanking out the menu from under my water while I was reading it. Had a nice lunch with my friends and first of all the service was absolutely terrible they didn't come to our table for 10 minutes and then we ordered our drinks and we needed a couple minutes to look over the menu and the waitress wouldn't leave us alone she kept asking if we were ready when we clearly weren't. Second of all our food came out in one minute after we ordered which tells me it's not fresh and wasn't made to order. We also saw them recycle the chips. I don't recommend this place to anyone ever. The staff is friendly and the service was good. Prices are reasonable. The did not meet our definition of good Mexican grind. I grew up in Southern California so maybe my expectations are little high for what I consider "good." However, the restaurant was full, so by Georgia standards it is considered authentic. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I ordered a hard shell chicken taco, chili relleno, and pork tamale. The taco tasted ok but the shell was similar to the packaged shells you can get at the grocery store. The tamale was the best of the 3 items and tasted pretty good. The relleno was horrible, a quarter cut of Ortega Chile, not the whole chille, served on a plate covered in cheese. It looked like a big blob of cheese melted in a microwave on a plate. We have been long time patrons of Los Rios and have been coming 3-4 times per month. Over the past several weeks we have noticed declines in both the quality of the food and service. Our most recent visit may be the last time for a while. An order of Enchiladas Verdes came out cold initially and when we notified the server he was irritated. The plate was brought back to us in less than 5 minutes and the microwaved Enchiladas were so hot that they scalded the roof of my mouth. An order of nachos came out with a large pile of soggy, green peppers right in the middle and had to be scraped off so that we could get to the chips and shrimp. The server was in such a rush that in refilling drinks he poured water on one of our plates and did not even notice. We could not finish the food since it got wet. Disappointing and likely to have us looking for other options for Mexican food going forward. read more
