This place has two things going for it - reasonable prices and great frozen Texas margaritas. Service is usually pretty quick too. Salsa isn't very spicy. They should send someone to eat at Mr. Taco or El Porton (my favorite Mexican place) in Roswell and try some of their salsa. Ground meat dishes need more spices. Overall the food here isn't very spicy, most of the time, which is probably why it is popular, but I like my Mexican dishes a bit spicier and more flavorful. I've lived in Cumming my entire life and I love trying all the different Mexican restaurants in the area, but frankly nothing beats Los Rios. Why? 1. The price. Ya girl can get a 20 oz. house margarita and a dinner entree for $15. 2. That margarita I mentioned earlier... those things are GOOD. You definitely get more than what you pay for, and I can't say that for most places in FoCo. 3. The food. Affordable and delicious?!? Yes. Beans and rice is the main way I judge a Mexican place because it's a staple dish and sadly this place has the most bland beans and rice I have ever tried. The burrito and quesadilla I got were pretty good though. Would go again and skip out on their rice and beans. read more

Hey, just a quick mini review of our luncheon visit to Los Rios!!! As usual, drink orders taken within 2 minutes of being seated. Opted for the patio, as my 3 year old grandson has lots of energy. Chips and salsa equally as quick. Salsa was mild today, just the way my wife likes it. Con queso dip next, for the boy!!!! A cheese dip monster, he is!! Orders taken and seemed less than10 minutes had passed before we got our food. I had Carnitas, which were excellent. Girls had quesadilla and soft taco, and pollo fundito to my oldest. Little guy had cheese quesadilla and fries. No complaints noted. Always a good meal at Los Rios. Quality and quantity never disappoints. A must see place for good food and fair prices!!!! read more

If you want very inexpensive food, this is your place. I don't think that the salsa is very good but love that they give you so much. I don't think that the chips are that great, but they quickly refill your basket. I don't think that the food is all that good, nor is it seasoned, but it's extremely cheap and they give you a ton of it. The beer prices are fantastic. I got the 32oz Los Rios cerveza and it only cost $2.50! Where else can you get beer that cheap in a restaurant or bar? The Los Rios cerveza was, at least tonight when I ate here, was Natural Lite. It was good and I'd get this every time I go back. The two times I've been, the place is jammed packed. There is much better Mexican out there but nowhere near as cheap which explains the huge crowds. BTW, they don't put totals on your check that they bring to your table which always makes me wonder. I approached the cashier with an approximate total in my head. My bill did ring up about five dollars higher than I was expecting tonight. The lady rang up an extra quesadilla it seems. Kept hearing about this place through NoFo brewery and want to check it out. A local friend suggested getting there way early so we didn't have to wait. Arrived at 4:45 on a Saturday and was able to sit down immediately. Sat for about five minutes until a frantic male waiter took our drink order. Spoke so fast had to ask him to repeat himself several times. We ordered fajitas and were told there was an up charge for steak. Ok. Not sure why since the steak is flat iron which is the economical cut of meat. But when the food was delivered I was pleased to see the large portions. A note about speediness. It's almost comical. Literally three minutes after we ordered the food was delivered to our table. The food was hot and fresh. We went about eating our meals without any interruption. Once we finished we sat and relaxed and caught up. While it was clear they wanted our table, we made it clear we were not leaving any time soon. We stayed, finished our drinks and socialized. I just don't get it....for years this place continues to pack in the crowds! It's clearly not for the quality and flavor of the food. The service was just ok at best. The atmosphere is nothing special at all. I think the reason people flock to this place is the price of the food. Very reasonably priced, but keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Maybe they have awesome drinks?? To start, they bring you a container of salsa which doesn't have much flavor, along with a basket of chips which are thicker than average and taste stale. My hubby had a steak salad. The piece of steak I tried was all gristle. Urgh! Just terrible, I don't even want to think about it again... I had a combo platter. The beef taco meat has no spice, no flavor at all. The taco is only topped with lettuce. No cheese or other items. The other item was a corn tortilla with shredded chicken with jalapeño cheese dip. I never saw a jalapeño....leaving it completely dull and tasteless. Why does everybody love this place?? It seems to be a local favorite. I'm a local too, and I would like to suggest checking out Hacienda or Tacos & tequilas instead. Both of these options are 100 percent better in flavor, quality, service, and atmosphere. I like this place! It's really become a Cumming landmark, with a large, loyal fan base. I have been a regular since they opened, and love it when i get a chance to catch lunch here. Service is always super fast and friendly. Occasionally there is some miscommunication between the waiter and the kitchen, or they forget something, but they are always quick to make it better. When you arrive they immediately bring chips and an enormous "pitcher" of salsa, I think it's a Cumming thing. The chips are always fine, the salsa is fresh but mild. The usual rice and refried beans accompaniments are solid. Have never had a bad meal here, and the friends I have brought all left happy. Okay, I have to admit that I am giving at least a 1/2 star of the rating because they have .99 draft beer! Great service, good food, cheap beer! Yay! read more

After living in Cumming for almost 8 years, we decided to finally try Los Rios. We have heard from many that it has authentic Mexican and we were looking forward to giving it a try. We were encouraged when each person at our table got their own bowl of salsa and the waiter gave our party of four 2 baskets of tortilla chips. We felt this was a positive sign. We ordered and honestly, five minutes later, our food came. Highly disappointed. The fajita salad was full of thigh meat, the ground beef on the tostada was greasy and flavorless. The waiter was flippant and rolling his eyes when he brought the wrong beer. Sad to say, we will not be back . Looking for a place that had chili rellenos and chili Colorado. Sadly the food was disappointing here. Service was fast and friendly and price was good. Unfortunately food was very bland. Starting with salsa, it was watery and no spice or flavor. Like tomato sauce. The chips were stale. Chili Colorado is usually cooked in sauce. This was chopped up steak with sauce over it. I had high hopes for this place after it was recommended as being "really good" by a co-worker. Obviously her taste buds are off. To say the food is inauthentic Mexican would be an understatement. If you're country white folk, yes, this would be considered some good ol' Mexican food, but it couldn't be further from it. It was mediocre at best. The salsa that they bring out with the chips tastes like a mix between barbecue sauce, cocktail sauce and ketchup. It was gross. I ordered the fajita supreme nachos which was supposed to come with sour cream and guacamole and it didn't. It was however, slathered in melted, processed, plasticky queso. I notified the waitress that some ingredients were missing and instead of taking it back and having it prepared correctly she brought out minuscule portions of the missing ingredients on a separate plate. My wife and I try to go every Wednesday night to hear Mariachi Jalisco, Carlos, Raphael, and Miguel. Great Mariachi musicians. Food is simple, tasty, well prepared, and very reasonably priced. Service is friendly and very fast. Waiters Tavo, JJ, and Miguel, are the friendliest but the others are very attentive. Owner/manager Cheszar keeps the staff hoppin'.
