I just moved to Carlsbad and spent the first few weeks trying different taco shops. I grew up eating San Diego Mexican food, so it's a big deal to find the best near you. Los Tacos immediately stood out, from the service, to the menu and food quality- it became my favorite! My Fiancé and I decided to ask Jose (the manager) if he could cater our Bachelorette/bachelor party this weekend. He was very detailed and provided great options for a taco bar and at a very reasonable price. The food was amazing and all of our guests were so delighted at the selections. This is regarding the Oceanside Location in the Kohl's Shopping Center on Marron Road. I am a long term customer, but will not return. I was there today around 2pm and the A/C was not working, the salsa bar was invaded by flies and the the bathroom was filthy. The furniture is falling apart and there was only 2 customers there in one hour. The help (3) of them were just standing around and doing nothing but drinking coffee from Starbucks. It almost felt like they were going out of business by the way I have described everything! I would not be surprised if they will soon have a B rating by the health department. Not one table was clean or wiped down! This is sad because this use to be such a great place to have authentic Mexican food. They have also changed their cooks/staff and the food not as good, or as fresh! Los tacos has a great taco Tuesday menu and the service is great. I'm always greeted when I walk in and my food is brought to my table with a big smile. We've been going to the other location on Vista Way, but this location on Marron has more of the same specials and birria now so we had to check it out. They have a deal for $10 for 5 tacos - either al pastor or carnitas, so we tried the pastor today and it was so good. Topped with pineapple, onions and cilantro, we added a little of the creamy green salsa and these don't even need guacamole. We also got their deal for $14 for 3 large birria tacos (incl cheese) with a cup of consome. We loaded up on lime, onions, and cilantro at their salsa bar, which just upped the perfection on these. Delicious food, but HORRENDOUS PRICING. The cost of a taco special with consommé is estimated approximately $3.00/taco so maybe $12/bowl?! That's highway robbery. I liked the food and the service was great, but times are tough and... $15 for 3 tacos and a side BEFORE tax, service fee, or tip being added is just unreal. Especially when there are restaurants elsewhere that sell tacos for $0.69. This is offensively expensive for Oceanside. I've lived here all my life and just a bummer that now I can't afford a few tacos for under $40 in my own neighborhood. read more

We absolutely love this place and its employees. Jose is always making sure that we have everything we need. And the atmosphere is always very welcoming. We got catering platters for an event back in June and he made sure everything with our order was perfect. Also a shout out to the ladies that were there the day I picked the order up. They were awesome! We just stopped by yesterday for dinner and to my surprise they brought back my absolute favorite thing the Gordita and it was absolutely amazing and the best surprise to see that they brought it back. He makes you feel welcome and works hard to make sure you leave a satisfied customer. When calling in an order, the food is always ready when he says it will be. Joe is a worker at the restaurant and he is so helpful. He double checks our order to not only make sure everything is there, but that it's prepared correctly (when we make adjustments to the menu item). When you drive up you're not sure from the outside. As soon as you enter the ambiance itself lets you know they mean business. The food was hot and taste good. Food quality is good but quantity is as Poor as the price. $$$$$ They up charge for everything and be cautious of what you order and it's price. My husband and I went in for the first time ordered chips and guacamole and got charged for nachos supreme with solo guacamole. Not sure how that's fair but I guess some businesses will do anything to make extra money. Needless to say we cancelled our $13 (half order) of chips and guacamole. So does this mean we would have paid $26 for a full order??? I think I'll buy my own avocados and a bag of chips next time. read more

Ordered food for the office and had about 6-7 orders. Arrived at time we stated, and they did not have our order ready. Stated online ordering was down. this was understandable as it happens BUT... We told them our order and it took them over AN HOUR to make it. This is not a big or hard order. They ended up cancelling one of our orders, so we had to order again. After waiting over 45 minutes they tell us another one of our orders can't be placed. Did not offer us free food or a discount for the next time. It is with distinct pleasure I write this review. I'm a regular at this particular Los Tacos and it's the customer service that brings me back every single time. From the moment you walk thru the door you are greeted by either Jose or Lorena, both will have a smile from ear to ear, and express a welcome to you akin to the welcome you only receive from dearly loved ones, after returning home from a years long journey in a far away land. Once you've placed your order Joe will happily serve you with the most sincere form of hospitality, and he won't let you stand from your seat without asking if there is "absolutely anything he can do for you" so that your meal is not interrupted. Admittedly, it will be hard to step away from Irene's tacos, but sometimes you just need a little more of that fire salsa, that's always fresh, and always stocked! There are plenty of choices for every kind of fancy you may have to dress up your favorite authentic Mexican dish! Truly, I say to you, I cherish my lunch breaks with this epic team. Following a hard day of work my best friend and I got some tacos as a reward. I ordered the birria tacos and he ordered the carnitas tacos. We were absolutely blown away with the service and the quality of the tacos. I've never had birria tacos as fresh and consume as robust as this. The carnitas tacos were perfectly crispy as well as tender mixing all the crispiest and more tender parts of carnitas into a taco. Highly recommend a lunch beer and some tacos here. read more

Err, I don't know what to say. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this place a try. It is not what I expected it would be. I went in craving some tacos. I was attended by who I presumed to be the shop's manager as he displayed his business card proudly on the cash register. I asked about the special and he replied what the special was. I didn't get a chance to study the menu because he made me feel uncomfortable with his pretentiousness. When I asked what the special tacos were filled with, he responded faster, bothered and very matter fact. I thought it was just his manner. Then I saw how he treated the cooks in the back and that really bothered me. He was on them. The whole vibe was off. I asked for salsa and he rudely pointed to the salsa bar. Meh okay. Already very uncomfortable and wanting to leave, I asked him if they have any to go since my tacos after all were for to go. Rudely, "no". The service was very unpleasant. I felt rushed out of there. I just don't understand the pretend that it's upscale when it's not. It is a taco shop. If he is trying to go with pretentiousness then it's not for that place. The atmosphere is very different. For me it wasn't welcoming. I wanted to leave as quickly as I got there. As for the tacos, I was hoping they were worth it but no, they were mediocre at best. I'm not going back. read more
