Great place! What a hidden gem out behind Lowes. My coworkers found this place by accident because they were told wrong directions to another place. Since then this is their place to go!! The service and authenticity is definitely there! If only they cooked faster because my coworker and ride left me :(... Just kidding, they almost did. If they were more consistent on their locations and had just a small pinch more meat, I'd give them 5 stars. Food flavor it right and not as greasy as you would think coming from a food truck. They reside at one of two locations, that I know of, Calderon Tires in downtown Sunnyvale and Lowe's at Wolfe and Arques also in Sunnyvale. Definitely one of the better food truck tacos in the area. When you have the tacos, simply discard one of the two tortillas and you create the best meat to tortilla ratio! Good stuff! read more

I don't understand how this food truck could garner any negative ratings. I find myself regretting going to the Super Taqueria near me to get my burrito fix thinking about Los Tolucas's carnitas burrito. Never satisfied. I work in this business, and when you see on a regular basis who wants to "trade" with other food establishments? Los Tolucas is the besieged girlfriend. Always consistent, and their three hot sauce choices are amazing (orange!). Darnit, I need to work with them soon. I miss my fix. As a purveyor of Mexican cuisine, I won't claim to be an expert but I will say that I've tried many different places (food trucks, taquerias, restaurants) and most of them have been delicious. Nothing that warrants a rare review from me though. What's to say? Carne asada is usually good, carnitas is good if it's not too greasy, etc. Los Tolucas has educated me on something I have been missing for my entire life: buche. Buche is pork stomach (not to be confused with the more famous pork belly) and it is an entire world of flavor I had yet to experience in my 34 years on Earth. How I made it this far without trying it is unclear, but if they are offering it when you stop by this truck, I implore you to try it. Thanks to the lady taking orders when the truck stopped by my work today -- you have made a buche fan for life out of me. Now that I got that out of the way, here's what I ordered: 5 tacos (the 4 taco plate + 1 more a la carte because I'm indecisive): 1x Buche (pork stomach), 1x Al Pastor (marinated pork), 1x Lengua (beef tongue), 2x Carne Asada (grilled beef). Total came out to just over $10 with tax. Not bad these days! Each taco came with onions and cilantro, which is a must on tacos for me. Each taco had its own unique flavor and texture, truly a unique dining experience from a food truck. People tend to overlook this aspect in favor of speed and convenience. The al pastor was packed with flavor, as was the carne asada. The buche, as I mentioned earlier, was life-altering. The lengua, sadly, was slightly forgettable, as it didn't seem to have as much flavor as the other meats. The texture of the beef tongue was nice though, not too chewy or rubbery as tongue can get if overcooked. They had a number of other delicious looking items on the menu: huaraches, tortas, and the usual burritos and quesadillas. I'm thankful this truck makes a regular appearance at my work -- I'll be circling that day of the month on my calendar for the foreseeable future, if only to get my buche fix! read more

At my employer, we have different food trucks come in every day of the month, except Tuesdays. Los Tolucas is one of the regulars, and is here once a month. I just made my way through only one half of a Super Burrito with beef and all the other goodies. The tortilla is huge and very warm (probably just came off a warming griddle), and it was stuffed full of beef, pinto beans, fresh, chopped tomatoes, and onions. The tortilla is wrapped tightly around all of the ingredients and then double wrapped in a sheet of restaurant paper, and finally aluminum foil. Holding it in my hand, it felt hefty! It was also delicious, and I could only eat half of it. The other half is going home with me to be tonight's dinner. Love this truck, they have many selections (including veg. options), and quick, quiet service. The lady who took my order and the gentleman who prepared it were very pleasant. If you like tacqueria food and plenty of it, I recommend that you give Los Tolucas a try when they are in your area. read more

Menlo Park Off The Grid. Ordered taco plate, 4 tacos any meat for a little over $10 + tip. I appreciated the good serving of meat on each taco, and the salsas were delicious. I'm writing this review after Los Tolucas successfully served over 200 people at an event hosted by my church, the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of the Peninsula in Palo Alto. First, the owner -- Ricardo, the owner, is incredibly professional and reliable. I called him to see if he was available to bring his truck to the event, and he said he would be happy to accommodate. (BTW, their number is 650 417 5595...it's not listed online). I later met him in person at his usual spot in Sunnyvale and worked out the details. We checked in a couple times prior to the event to make sure everything was set. Throughout the process, Ricardo was incredibly accommodating and enthusastic about working at our event. He also arrived early at the site to ensure his truck was parked at the right location. Second, the service -- Ricardo and his team of cooks were very efficient and prepared to serve our party. All cooks worked quickly, and the woman taking orders was very warm and patient. Customer service alone warrants 5 stars. The only downside was that they ran out of chicken so took some time to cook another batch, but that was a surprise as steak / carnitas are usually more popular. We are looking forward to inviting them back to our church! Finally, the food -- SO DELICIOUS Some popular items that people bought were: super burritos, super quesadillas, and the taco plate. Very good-sized portions without compromising quality. They use authentic, fresh, and flavorful ingredients, and their free sides of salsas, guacamole, limes, and pickles enhance each dish. I got the plate of carnitas tacos (4 on a plate) as well as fresh horchata (which isn't listed on the menu but available upon request). Topped with salsa and guac, it made a full meal. The meat was cooked tenderly and served in abundance, and the onions and cilantro gave it a fresh kick. The tortillas were also authentic -- thick and with a great smoky corn flavor. They also served Mexican coke and other aguas frescas which people loved. All in all, a great place to get a full meal at very reasonable prices. A hidden gem in Sunnyvale! I totally recommend this truck to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food made with fresh ingredients and lots of love. Really nice folks! I have cilantro issues and these folks were super kind and helpful in getting my order cilantro-free. I can't taste ANYTHING else if I get even a leaf in my food - I can tell you if a knife was used to cut cilantro before something else without washing... so it's sometimes tough to order a cuisine that uses a lot of cilantro. I had a super burrito with the rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and avocado. It was tasty and HOT and I didn't even get a hint of the "bad plant" ;) I do prefer refried beans to pinto, but these were nicely cooked and enjoyable. Nice assortment of garnishes, too. We had the truck at our business today and I went at the tail end of their service time. found los tolucas at off the grid at crowne plaza in palo alto. i ordered tacos, which come in plates of four. the carnitas tacos were well-seasoned, moist, and came out promptly. however, the super quesadilla we ordered never came out and when we asked about it, the staff claimed they left it in the window and it was taken. we were standing by the window for 45 minutes and there were zero quesadillas (no one behind us ordered one either, so there couldn't have been a mixup there). we eventually got our order an hour after we paid for it, but they had a nasty attitude about it, didn't apologize, and didn't comp it. no accountability at this establishment. to be fair, the quesadilla was pretty tasty. but be warned: service will be hit or miss. tl;dr - good food, bad service. also, if you like spicy, their dark red salsa really hits the spot. read more
