They have a Taco Tuesday special - 4 street tacos for $10! I got 2 chicken & 2 chorizo. Plenty of meat. They have a nice little salsa bar too. My group of 10 people got there at 11:15 placed our orders. You order as you walk in, so there is no need to split bills. They take your name and bring the food out. There is patio seating and a few small tables inside. A friend showed up half hour later and the line was out the door! Its in a tiny strip mall with a small Mexican grocery store and a separate panaderia. I will definitely be back!

One of the best breakfast burritos I have had at an unbeatable value. It came out super hot and fresh and packed with everything you would want in a breakfast burrito. Their menu is huge and includes all of the Mexican favorites. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of tables in a clean environment blasting music.

Skip iguanas come to Ruby's! Randomly found this gem on yelp the reviews definitely speak for it. Prices are average for the area, but the portions are much better than a lot of the other competition. Come for the salsa bar, enjoy an horchata and dabble in the slow cooked options.

We were in San Jose for business, and we wanted burritos. We randomly found this place. Both my husband and I had super burritos. I personally loved it, because it had every ingredient that I loved. Good prices! My husband laughed, because the burrito was the size as his wrist to elbow. We grabbed and go, but customer service was nice. Seemed clean. Spacious restaurant. We definitely are keeping this place in the books, for when we go visit SJ

We came by for some authentic mexican food after being in the sun all day and the food was so good! I was confused about the size of street tacos and regular tacos but I was surprised when I got my regular taco order to see how big they were! The flavors amazing and the homemade tortillas were soooo good! I think I prefer the street tacos because they're a bit compact and the tortillas did not break as easily (2 tortillas stacked together). They have plenty of seats inside and outside . The outside tables are good for groups. Overall, I would come back!

My husband has been telling me about a Mexican restaurant - last weekend I finally got to try it. It did not disappoint. They give a little container of crispy tortillas chips, and there is a nice salsa bar with some marinated vegetables. The salsas are pretty spicy. We ate the chicken fajitas platter and two sopes( carnitas and carne asada). Everything was delish. Don't forget to stop by the bakery a few doors down.

It's been years since I've been here. My wife loved this place. Thought that I'd try it again. It was good, but I wouldn't rate it as high as most have. Tortillas were rustic but I wouldn't use the word "fresh." It was packed to go then the server realized it was dine in. Quickly produced chips and salsa. Hot as F in here...

If you are looking to get tacos here, do not do it. I don't know if rubys known for something else but their tacos not it. I actually did a taco medley of all the taco places in Sunnyvale with my friends and we all think it's the worst. The taste is bland despite that the tacos look very juicy and flavorful. The meat is very fatty and not very good cuts. They did give us chips so that's a plus and the salsas not bad. But the tacos no good. The lady was also not very polite. Overall bad experience

Uniqueness: Excellent Nachos and Street Tacos! Wait Time: [x][x][x][x][ ] Food Quality: [x][x][x][x][x] Service: [x][x][x][x][ ] Setting: [x][x][x][x][ ] Cost: [x][x][x][x][ ] Recommendation? Street Tacos for sure and if you're sharing with people, nachos is a definite must. I been here once out of the blue and I had an excellent time trying Ruby's Taqueria. Located in a little Mexican strip mall in Sunnyvale, you'll find excellent quality Mexican street food here as well as Mexican dishes as well with great quality. I ordered the street tacos with carne asada and tripas and they were amazing. Perfectly savory and not dry at all, and then paired it with some nachos to share to which it was all devoured by everyone. If I'm ever in Sunnyvale and craving some Mexican food, I'll definitely come back here for more and for sure recommend others to give this place a try. Once you're done eating, you can stop by the Mexican bakery as well for some Mexican pastries sold for cheap as a nice dessert.

Always the best! Their carnitas are amazing, and sometimes they have weekend specials. This one was: "Fish Taco Special". ¡¡¡No mames, guey, que rico!!!

I visited this spot for the first time despite passing it many many times on my rides back and forth to the Bay trail. I was happy when it opened since it was closed during the pandemic, I believe taquerias should be available in all neighborhoods. I ordered the asada super burrito to go. The cashier was friendly and brought the food out to me on my bike when it was ready. I thought the burrito was a little pricey, but you can tell by the picture it's quite large. I'll definitely get two meals out of it and probably could have gotten three if I didn't stuff myself. It was also very tasty. The beef had a good char flavor and the tortilla was packed with avocados, beans, rice and cheese. With so many great talk ideas around, it's hard to choose but I would certainly order here again on my way by.

Any insiders know if closure is permanent? It has been closed a long time and is wondering if I should give up hope.

They are now open for pick up and door dash only at the moment

Is Ruby's going to re-open and if so when? It has been closed for weeks and I can't find another Mexican food place that is as good.

The cashier at the supermarket next door said it should re-open in a month (late April?)

Thankfully, this third visit reminded me why I loved this place in the first place. This time, we basically ordered almost the entire menu, and overall the food was excellent. My favorite dish of the night was the Spicy Handroll Dip. It's the one item I look forward to every visit and I'd recommend it to anyone dining here. The Hamachi Poke with goat butter was another standout and remains one of the most unique and memorable dishes on the menu. The salmon was good, but so many of the other dishes were so creative and elevated that it ended up being overshadowed. That's more of a testament to how strong the rest of the menu is. They had unfortunately run out of the goat empanadas, so we ordered the vegetable empanadas instead. To our surprise, they were just as good. The buttery aroma coming off the puff pastry when they hit the table was absolutely mouthwatering, and the flavor lived up to the smell. One question for Valley Goat though: why was the tempura nori replaced with crackers for the Spicy Handroll Dip? The dip is still amazing, but the tempura nori chips took it to another level. The crunch and texture paired perfectly with the dip, and I'd love to see it make a comeback. The atmosphere was lively, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was excellent. A special thank you to Jake for taking such great care of us all night. He was attentive, friendly, and helped make the evening memorable. While nothing has quite topped my first visit yet, this was a fantastic meal and a huge improvement from my second visit. Looking forward to visit number four.

We ordered chips and salsa, but when we got home it wasn't in the bag. The tacos were just okay, the grilled chicken were decent but the carne asada weren't worth it. The carne asada meat was too big and full of fat and tendon. The diablo shrimp were so hot my husband had to rinse off the sauce to continue eating them. Their rice and beans were decent, but nothing special to report. I wouldn't return. There are far too many locations in the greater San Jose area that have much better food for less.

I eat here about 3 times a week and I'm slowly trying all the different types of meat. I love the tender shredded chicken and the Asada is OMG juicy chunks of flavorful steak! Not at all like the tough overcooked and thin meat scraps you get at other taquerias. The pork Pibil is similar to the shredded chicken in texture and wonderfully flavored as well. I got the Tortilla soup on a rainy day and it hit the spot. Making me look forward to more rainy days! The inside is decorated so cheerfully and my favorite is the little piñata planters on each table! So adorable! I ordered some delivery for my parents tonight and they were blown away by their chile Rellano and enchiladas Suizas. They absolutely loved the chips and freshly made guac too! Two more satisfied long term customers! I love that they always start my Horchata the second I walk in. It's creamy and delicious a never has that gritty texture at the bottom. Yum! So glad I was introduced to this place. It's definitely on the top of my list when I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Oh and if you like spicy ask for the orange sauce! The nice man warned me and it definitely has a kick, but if you can hang with the heat the flavor is superb!!!

However don't overlook how good their food is. We tried a few of their specialties and my daughter had her usual cheese quesadilla with refried beans. The server was great and very helpful. I ordered the Shrimp Al Tequila. I've never seen a dish like this on a menu, so I thought I'd try it. It has a very, very warm spicy heat to it. You can taste the flavors from the tequila and the capers and olives. It's a wonderful dish, although I wish there were more shrimp on it! My wife had the Pollo. Al Xocohoqui (I know I'm misspelling that). The sauce here is rich, mild in spice, creamy and nutty. My daughter's quesadilla was actually one of the best I've ever had. The tastiest combo we got out of it was loading the chips and salsa with rice and beans, and any part of our main entree. Sort of a nachos-like bite. The food overall was really mediocre. The strawberry margarita was so disappointing, very ice slushy and watered down. Not boozy. No strawberry flavor either, despite looking the part. Uneven pours for the table. Unfortunate.
