I came across this food truck at the 4th of July celebration in Redwood City, and decided to give it a try. The long lines for all of the food trucks at this event were to be expected. But Los Tolucas' service wasn't bad, and wait times weren't horrible, just 10 minutes in line to order and 20 minutes more for my food to be ready. The shrimp quesadilla was loaded with yummy grilled veggies and seasoned shrimp, an addictive taste I really enjoyed, memorable for sure. And their menu has more unique offerings than the typical taco truck or mexican food stand, more meat options, fajitas, and burrito bowls. I would definitely return for more. read more

Friends took me to this food truck for lunch. It's in the parking lot of a Lowe's store. They have canopies with tables & chairs so you can eat freshly made food on the spot. I got taco de lengua. I passed by this truck and couldn't help but notice the pleasant aroma here. So I made it a point to order from here on my lunch break. Located in the Lowes parking lot corner you'll find tons of parking. There are also a couple of tables, chairs and trash cans in case you want to enjoy your food on the spot. I did an online order via yelp/grubhub which told me my food would be ready in 20 minutes. After 40 minutes I noticed there was no update on my order status so I went to the location hoping my food would be ready. I showed the gentleman my order and that I had paid already and he said they never received it and to order in person and cancel online. That sounded like more trouble than I was hoping for but I paid again and the food was ready in minutes. Very impressive on the turnaround time and even more so the quality of the food. My nose hasn't failed me yet lol. I ordered al pastor which had a not so common cut or texture but the flavors definitely checked out. Kinda seemed like think cut steak with the al pastor flavor, a bit of kick and so much to make you enjoy it that there was no reason to look into any issues. Great customer service and grub hub actually called me while I was eating in my work truck to tell me they dropped the ball and would give me a full refund. All without me having to go out of my way for their mistakes. The truck employee told me they were having issues with grubhub quite a bit so maybe that's why they were so quick to fix this dilemma. Really wished I could have tried out the breakfast burrito...But I went with the tacos instead. Pollo and carne asada are bomb, and come with all the fixings. A few minutes after receiving my food from the food truck, my boyfriend and I realized we needed napkins and hot sauce. I went back to the truck window and asked for these things, and the lady said "those are only for customers." I then explained to her that I am a customer.. and that I just received a burrito and quesadilla from them a few minutes ago. She then argued with me and said I was not a customer... I had to insist to her that I was in fact a customer. Finally, it was clear to her that I wasn't going away so she asked me for my order number. I told her my order number, and then watched her physically unstack all of the receipts until she found my number (which took a while, since it had been about 10 min since I ordered and many new orders had come in since then). At this point this bizarre situation had caught the attention of a few other customers in line, who were in as much disbelief as I that this woman was going through all this trouble because I asked for an extra hot sauce and napkins! It was literally crazy. It took like 7min until she finally found my receipt and begrudgingly gave me the napkins and hot sauce. By that time, our $45 food had gotten cold. This was a horrible customer experience. I spent a good amount of money here, only for this business to argue with me about whether or not I'm a customer, and they made it unnecessarily difficult to get basic things to enjoy my meal like hot sauce and napkins. Wow! Los Tolucas is straight fuego! I ordered the super Asada quesadilla with everything one it to-go. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The chef asked me if I would like hot sauce (red or green). I told him one of each, please! That's mandatory! Lol, once I got to my whip, and I opened the container, bam, the presentation was on point! I peeped the quesadilla, and it looked delicious. The tortilla had a perfect brown on it from the grill, and the Asada looked like nicely chopped steak squares, not that flat Asada pieces. At that point, I knew I was going to enjoy this! Both of the sauces were on point with a nice consistency and tincture. The flavor of the pico de gallo, melted queso, crema, and the Asada with the warm toasted tortilla shooooo! This is where I found The Brightly Colored Los Tolucas Catering Truck . It had nice looking color pictures of their offerings . I saw a nice Picture of their Shrimp Fajitas Plate and it enticed me . I asked the Chef of the Real food looked as good as the Picture and he said that it did . I had to Challenge him . So I ordered the Shrimp Fajita Plate ! The Chef cooked it from Scratch on his Griddle in the Truck . He was very Skillfull and I would see the Shrimp get Airborne from him flipping it on the Grill. He had Great Style and was definitely Skilled in the Culinary Arts. I thought I was Watching the Movie Chef again. But in Person. I really Enjoyed watching my food being prepared . Then the Chef plated my Shrimp Fajitas and presented it to me . The Finished Product looked "Better " than the "Picture". I grabbed a seat and started eating . If the tortillas for the tacos were better, then this would be a 4 star review. I ordered 4 beef tacos. The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well, but the taco was hard to eat because the tortillas were so dry. I almost choked and had to drink water after every bite. Your tacos may have a smokey grilled meat flavoring. They also don't have any seating. Tried this place due to a Ford F150 testing drive event. So instead of a regular burrito, they made smaller $5 burritos for those that were at the event. When I ordered the lady kept pushing for the $10 regular burrito saying it was larger and had a side and this and that. I kept the $5 free burrito and ending biting into a bean and rice burrito with some very hard few piece of meat they call carne asada. The ones I normally order are very soft, not this place.
