Like I was saying, if your into cheesy large oblong shaped flavorful pupusas? This place is Da Bomb!!! I ordered half a dozen pupusas with a variety of flavours and each one did not disappoint. These ufo shaped meals were moist,extra cheesy with just the right amount of ingredients inside to make it a happy hi carb meal! The place is a whole in a wall but very clean. Almost all the tables were filled on a Wednesday for lunch. That's pretty rare for an outer Mission restaurant nowadays. It is a testament on how good the food is. The waitress carded me for my vaccine card before allowing me to order. I had the super pupusas $4.50 and a prawn soup $14.50 for lunch. The super pupusas had a good amount of cheese, chicken and little pieces of vegetables inside. My prawn soup had six pieces of shrimp with vegetables on a red tomato base. Both were very good and I had no complaints. I liked how I can dip the tortilla onto the soup and eat it soaked with soup. That was a good lunch. read more

This place serves Salvadorian and Mexican food. The restaurant has a few tables but it's small. Be prepared to wait if your dining in. I visited on a Friday afternoon and they only had one lady cooking and it took a while for us to get our food. Let me start off by saying the portions are on the small side compared to other restaurants and prices are higher. I ordered pupusas and they were very thin, hardly and filling. Each pupusa was $3.50. My son ordered a regular burrito and he did not like it. It was not the same as the Taqueria burritos. An agua fresca is $5 and the options vary each day. I will not be visiting again since I can go to El Zocalo and get pupusas that are much better. Also, El Zocalo offers more typical Salvadorean food. read more

This is my absolute favorite place to grab some legit pupusa's! They have a bunch of different options in case you want something other than pupusas. I just ordered and decided to cancel one pupusa and he refused. They didn't even start cooking my food. All these combination lunch plates, but can't add rice and beans to the mini mega y'all famous for?! GTFOH! After eating a little less then half of this meal I gave up. Sure not worth $18. Very disappointing rice, they used Uncle Ben's white rice and added some carrots. Weak AF. There are plenty of other great options when it comes to El Salvadorian food in the area. It's been a while since I wrote a one-star review. Our experience was just awful. First entree was Sopa de Gallina. For $15.50 we got a small bowl of soup that appeared to be broth or bouillon, with a few cubes of potato thrown in. It was accompanied by a piece of chicken that was so dry and overcooked that it was hard and barely edible. It also came with some iceberg lettuce that had no flavor, which is what iceberg lettuce is all about. The corn tortillas were tasty. The second entree was a chicken fajita. There was very little chicken in it. The chicken that was in it was beaten flat and so overcooked that it was as hard and dry and inedible as the first entree. The third entree was one of the epinas. It came with skirt steak, chicken and 3 shrimp. The shrimp were cooked well and were tasty, as was the skirt steak. The chicken - you guessed it - was dry, hard and inedible. And it came with the same iceberg lettuce, adorned with a single slice of cucumber. I had come to expect Central American saladas to be cabbage-based or at least have a little character. Iceberg lettuce with no dressing, no tomatoes and no carrots means "we're not even trying." There were 3 other customers in the restaurant when we arrived, but we didn't get attention for 15 minutes. We waited 45 minutes for soup that was thin and overpriced, dry, overcooked chicken served 3 ways, and flavorless salad. No one ever came back to fill our drinks. Avoid this place. read more

Took 30 minutes to make my meal, when all I ordered was a burrito. The chicken was dry and tasted like mustard, and the quality of the ingredients was definitely not worth the price. The portion was good, but the size of the burrito unfortunately did not make up for the lack of authentic taste. The location is dirty, and the walls, tables, and chairs for sure need a deep cleaning. Overall, this was an unsatisfying $9.00 mistake I will not be making again. However, I must say their beans hit the spot. If it weren't for this joint's beans, I'd be giving them one star instead of two. read more

Just opened in what has been a cursed location. Hopefully this place will around for a while. Great breakfasts, the usual to-go Mexican fare and surprising soups and entrees. For example, today I had Fettuccine with prawns - fettuccine cooked al dented with prawns, fresh tomatoes and spinach., served with toasted french bread. I have to avoid milk in any form or I am sure there could have been cheese. Another time I had their sopa de res, tender beef ribs in a tasty broth, with carrots and other veggies. Without the usual Mexican corn-on-the-cob but very good. I'd also like to try their pescado a la Veracruzana, perhaps on my next visit. I've also had breakfast there, scrambled eggs with chorizo which also was good. My lactose problem kept me from trying their pancakes, frijoles y crema or pupusas. I will try their omelets another day, sans cheese, of course. They do a good take-out business, primarily with folks in the neighborhood. Los Trinos is a good small place for Central American food and a great addition to Outer Mission. Perhaps not a "Destination Restaurant" but a very handy pit stop, with a friendly staff and good food. read more

Platanos = sweet and perfect. $5.00 Sopa de res = beef with vegetables (half cob of corn, zucchini, carrots, yucca, potato, and cilantro) with lime on the side. Tender beef. Perfect broth. Slurp up! $11.00 Fajitas mixtas = chicken, prawn, beef and fresh vegetables. Comes with rice, beans and homemade corn tortillas. This whole dish was amazing! $13.99. (We're not a fan of the homemade tortillas because it's hard to eat more than one--so filling, but so delicious.) Pupusa Revuelta = pork, cheese and fried beans, comes with curtido and tomato sauce. It was perfect and hit the spot. $2.55. (They also offer a large pupusa for an entree.) Agua frescas = $3.00 x2 I didn't know which one to have, and the proprietor was so nice and brought me samples of coco de nancy (not sure on the name but he said nancy!), watermelon, tamarindo and pink barley. Everything was fresh! Tamarindo = perfect, not too sweet and not too watery. I'll come back here for it. Watermelon = refreshing. Service = friendly! We were the last people to show up, 25 minutes before closing, and they let us stay past closing time. Seating = several 4-tops. Rearrange for larger groups. Prices = reasonable. Dinner for two came out to $41.91, with leftovers. Come support a local joint. Small place with friendly service. They've only been open 1 year and 8 months! (He told us this.) Call in an order for take out, if you don't have the time to wait and dine in. They also offer breakfast...must try it sometime! read more

The only reason I don't give them a 10 out of 10 is because the place is small, but other than that the authenticity of the food is accurate. I always order the mixed pupusas. It's made when ordered so it takes a few minutes. It crispy on the outside and the cheese is melted perfectly inside. It should be eaten right away.
