Delicious Desayuno Flor de Izote! I love any place that will serve breakfast all day. Walked in at 1:30pm on a weekday, and the desayuno hit the spot. Plantains, avocado, rice & beans, eggs any style, sausages, fresh cheese, and a mayo sauce - nice combo. It was enough for 2 meals! Cheap AND satisfying Pupusas with melty cheese busting out of the seams like my muffin top in jeans for $2.50 each?! YAS, please! Formerly La Santaneca, La Flore De Izote serves Salvadoran and Honduran fare. As with most Salvadoran eateries, the best thing to get is their pupusas, thick corn tortillas stuffed with cheese, veggies, loroco (green flower), and/or meat. I ordered the Queso con Zucchini & Queso con Espinaca (spinach) Pupusas to go: https://bit.ly/2LoK71V. Cc's accepted. While waiting for my order, I noticed that I was the only non-Spanish speaking person there so you know this place is legit. For just $2.50 a pop, the pupusas were thick and nicely filled with oozy cheese and specks of zucchini and spinach. They could have used more veggies though. The curtido (pickled cabbage slaw) and salsa roja could be improved. The curtido was heavy on the dried oregano so it was on the bitter side. The salsa roja could use more garlic, onions, and cilantro to brighten up the canned tomatoes taste. Nonetheless, it was a good filling meal for $5 in SF! These days, you can't even get a shot of free-range kale-carrot-cucumber-elderflower-mint juice for that! Friendly suggestion: Please consider putting pupusas to go orders in a box. Mines was stacked and wrapped in foil so the steam made the pupusas soggy by the time I got home (I live several minutes away). My fav place for pupusas in SF is nearby Balompie Cafe BUT at a $1 cheaper a piece, La Flore De Izote is a good, wallet-friendly alternative. Food was good but not extraordinary. Unfortunately, the waitress who helped me got my order wrong (4 pupusas instead of 6). Bigger downside - the first 4 took 26 minutes to make (there were only 6 persons dining) and the missing 2 took another 11 mins. The 2nd waitress was very accommodating and professional while the first waitress who got it wrong went MIA and then behaved indifferently. Fat lady owner is trippin! Tried charging me $7 for one tamale! Girl what?! Your menu clearly states $6 some for 2 tamales but you want to change me $7 for one! No wonder no one eats here. For a much more authentic experience that terrible Los Panchos down the street, come to this spot where you can have 'grandma cooking' and where folks may be dancing in the aisles, literally. If you are not Salvadorian, and chances most everyone else in there will be, don't be intimidated. Instead, grab a table, a papusa or two (like the chicken or spinach) and enjoy the ambiance. Everything is amazing. I recommend any of the breakfasts and also the pupusas! The owners are regularly here and care a lot about their customers. We ordered a couple of special vegan pupusas with just black beans and they were glad to make them, and they did so very quickly! Prices are reasonable and plates are very filling. I came here because Balompie was closed for the holidays. The food was pretty pricey for the proportions. I got a plátano plate which was pretty good, we got a Flor De Izote breakfast plate which was over $12 and came with burnt pieces of meat (so tough it felt like jerky). I had two pupusas made with rice flour with beans and cheese that was really chewy and almost didn't taste fully cooked. I didn't try the corn flour pupusas but my mom and sister said they weren't as chewy. I think they're not used to so many people coming into their restaurant because the food took about 45 mins for 2 plates of food and 4 pupusas. I definitely think this place could do better. read more

I've ordered there chicharrón pupusas only chicharrón I specifically say no cheese at all and they always end up putting cheese on them and I can't eat them because I can't have cheese they do what ever they want they always say there going to be dry yeessss I know it ok but noooo...never going there again I don't recommend this place at all. read more

I came here about 4 years ago with friends and absolutely loved it. I have thought about the pupusas a couple times since. Tonight we went on a mission (pun intended) to find the place without knowing the name or knowing where it was. We drove up and down Mission for awhile and then had a friend send us a picture from when we were there last. These pupusas lived up to my memories I had, they are delicious and fresh. The rice and beans are also absolutely amazing. Service is super friendly and everyone seems to know each other. Highly highly recommend! read more

Wow, what a comeback for this place. Attentive server, generous portions, very reasonably priced & updated but still familiar spot! Most pupusas are just $2.50 & the salsa is phenomenal. The chips aren't too shabby & my bf & I we're given samples of the juices. The pupusas were a decent size & not so tiny like the other spot I usually go to. This place is fast & clean. My first impression of the place was excellent. I was greeted with a warm smile and eager staff. Unfortunately the food was so bad, that I am having to give them a two. The sopa de gallina was so bad, it made Campbell's Chicken soup look high quality. The soup was served with a side of old salad and slimy tomatoes. The pupusas were actually not bad but the curtido was one of the worst I've tried. It had no crunch, no vinegar, and no flavor. At first I was please with the servers' attitude but their service was terrible. We got the soup but then the tortillas took another 10 min to come out. We got water at the end of our meal when we had asked for water since the beginning. The pupusas came but the curtido and salsa were not there. They are inefficient. There are plenty of options in the Mission for Salvadorean food and this is not one. read more

I really loved this place, the people were so welcoming and the food is amazing. The pupusas are so good!! It seems like they really know what they are doing.
