Busy BBQ spot, but the service and food were both fantastic! Our hotel event coordinator recommended this place, and he definitely didn't disappoint. Everything was delicious and the recommendation was spot-on. Definitely worth a visit!

Our favorite place in Solvang! The food and service were phenomenal. Keri was an amazing waitress, she was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The brisket and wings were really tender and amazing. Would definitely come back and recommend anyone to come here!

Had lunch today at Whiskey N' Rye Smokehouse. Kat the hostess seated us at a nice table inside the outdoor patio. Ruby was our server and provided quality service with a smile and Jake delivered our meals. My wife had the smokehouse burger and I had the chicken sandwich. Both meals were good. A nice day in Solvang. Recommended.

Got recommendations from the girl behind the ice cream counter that this was her favorite place for dinner. Kinda sounded like a bar to me but it was a popular restaurant with available parking behind the restaurant. Our server took our orders which arrived shortly after. We had an outdoor table that just escaped the strong late afternoon sun like some other tables who were squinting their eyes. I ordered a bit too much: half rack of ribs with cole slaw, sweet chili and salt and vinegar wings, Cesar salad.

Haiku: Whiskey N Rye Smokehouse Nice spot in Solvang Came for the Easter prix fixe The bar is a vibe. --- Staying in Solvang, I was craving some BBQ and found this place. However, the night that we came, they were only serving their Easter prix fixe dinner. I was at least hoping their popular baby back ribs or smoked beef brisket would be on the menu. (The ribs were only on the kids' menu). Despite not being able to order their BBQ, the star of the prix fixe meal items was the Grilled Salmon. It was perfectly cooked--moist, flaky, and tender. The seasoning was on point, too. The Coffee & Chili-Crusted Filet Medallions sounded good on paper, but it was quite dry. My kid loved her ribs and fries from the kids' menu. They were meaty, tender, and full of flavor. Their desserts were a treat. The Smoked S'mores Mousse was decadent. The Banana & Bourbon Bread Pudding was dense, but was moist and flavorful. The restaurant itself had a masculine and rustic interior. There's a full bar, and I bet it's a popular spot to watch sports games. Service was attentive at the beginning, then waned as the meal progressed. Maybe it was because she was ending her shift and wanted to go home? After that, everything we needed, like boxes or paying the bill, was handled at the bar.

We came in on a Saturday night and grabbed a couple seats at the bar. Service was fantastic. It was attentive and fast. They have TVs, but we're unable to put the Dodgers game on for us. Which was fine. The decor is beautiful. I would say average noise and pretty busy on a Saturday night. They do close at nine though so it doesn't get crazy like everything else in Solvang. The food was good. We really enjoyed the cornbread and the fried pickles. We also tried the burnt ends and the Caesar salad salad. Both were good, but nothing amazing. The cocktails were my least favorite part. It seems like they pre-batch their Old Fashioneds. They were able to give my husband tastings of them and they were all extremely sweet. So I went with a boulevardier instead, which was also too sweet. I probably stick with beer or wine next time.

My friend and I wanted to grab a bite to eat after zip lining in Buellton, CA before heading back to Santa Barbara. We were really not in the mood for wine and thought this would be a perfect stop based on reviews. The restaurant was very nice with indoor and patio seating. It was a gorgeous day so we sat at the high top on the patio. Ashleigh introduced herself, very nice and attentive. I ordered and Espresso Martini and my friend ordered beer. We shared a Smoked Beef Brisket with a side of Fries and a Caesar Salad. The plate came out fast along with our drinks. We both thought the salad was OK. The fries were delicious. The Beef Brisket tasted really good and was tender, but unfortunately the 3 pieces that we were served were very fatty at $37. didn't cut it... Sorry. Would we try again, not sure, though drinks were good, maybe try the burger. Judge for yourself. Atmosphere: very nice laid back feel. Service: excellent. Food: fatty for the price not a good value.

This place is always a chill spot to come to and have a quick drink at the bar or even dinning on the patio. Service was great. The waiter was on point with our order. The old fashioned flight was tasty the peachy was surprisingly a favorite, the local whiskey flight Is always a go too, the bamble berry was surprisingly refreshing and light, the zero proof spicy watermelon was fresh and not spicy at all. The dirty fries are so tasty, a lot of flavor slight spicy but not enough to over power the flavor. Definitely a top suggestion if you're out in Solvang.

Mac cheese with pulled pork - very good

This place had great roasted half chicken. It was so moist. Their brisket and pulled pork was also good. The elote was meh, too much stuff on it. The smashed potatoes were garlicky and yummy. We got the filet mighty bites which were so good and cooked just right. The carrot cake was way too sweet, nothing special. We didn't care for the fried pickles. The waitresses very nice. I would came back.

Never disappoints! We go yearly and always order the same items because we crave it all year. Definitely trying getting a reservation ahead of time but dog friendly and kid friendly!

We came into town for anniversary and were looking for a place that would be good for dinner, with a casual vibe. Every time a shop owner would ask where we were from and why we came to Solvang, we told them it was our anniversary, and asked where we should eat. They all said Whisky and Rye. They were right. We were able to get a table for two that was in the back corner, our server was attentive and checked in on us often, keeping glasses full and making several on point recommendations. We had the beet salad (I don't like beets - but this salad was really good - so I found beets I like, I guess) and the sampler. It was all so good. Special shout out to the salad and the grilled corn. It was all really good but both were different than anywhere else. We will definitely be back again the next time we're in town.

Nice little bbq place. Ribs were tasty but the smokehouse burger so worth it. Also enjoyed the elote salad.

This is one of the most recommended places if you ask the locals in the town, and that's always a good sign. It's on the corner of Copenhagen Street, and outdoor seating had a nice cozy vibe with heaters in the patio setting. We chose to sit inside as it was a little chilly in the evening. The staff was super helpful and very patient, as we struggled to finalize an order. They even changed my order after I put it in. The ribs were great, and their homemade bbq sauce hits the spot. We ordered the seasoned fries and Mac n cheese as sides, and they were amazing too. The fries did have a spicy kick to it, and Mac n cheese were fresh and creamy. The only nitpicking I'd do with the ribs is they were slightly dryer on the outside, but no complaints other than that.

Yes, both vegetable oil and canola oils are used in food products we prepare.

My friends and I were sitting in a booth near the karaoke stage when my purse and white sweater accidentally slipped into the gap between the booth and the wall. Apparently, this gap contains part of the karaoke power setup, because the karaoke briefly stopped working when my belongings fell into it. If that area is truly that critical, it seems like a serious oversight that it is left completely uncovered and accessible to customers. The way the situation was handled was completely unacceptable. The karaoke DJ, Eric, came over to retrieve my belongings. Instead of simply placing them back on the booth seat or handing them to me, he threw my purse and sweater onto the floor while yelling at me and my friends. As a result, a bottle of perfume inside my purse shattered, my belongings were scattered, my purse was damaged, and my white sweater was dirtied. What bothered me most was not the accident itself, but the level of hostility and aggression directed toward me over something that was clearly unintentional. At no point was there any attempt to calmly explain the issue or address the situation respectfully. Instead, I was publicly embarrassed and treated as though I had done something wrong rather than accidentally dropping belongings into an exposed gap in the seating area. I was genuinely shaken by the interaction. In all my years of going to bars, restaurants, concerts, and other public venues, I have never had an employee throw my personal belongings on the ground while yelling at me. The response from management was equally disappointing. When two of my friends approached management to express concern about what had happened, they were threatened with being removed from the bar rather than having their concerns taken seriously. I understand that technical issues can be frustrating and that mistakes happen. What I do not understand is why a customer was subjected to that kind of treatment over an accidental incident that could have been handled with a simple conversation. The entire experience was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely avoidable. I hope management takes a serious look at both the exposed setup near the karaoke stage and the conduct of the staff involved, because no customer should be treated this way. If anyone from Whiskey Richard's would be willing to contact me further, I'd genuinely appreciate it.

The salad was HUGE, definitely meant to share although I ended up cleaning it up. I really like the concept of hyper-local where even the fisherman gets a shoutout by name on the menu, but I think the presentation and execution fell flat. I'm not sure if a larger group or different menu items would have landed differently but my fish ended up a bit rubbery and overcooked. The other dishes were very underwhelming, and it was really tough to get the attention of my server. When it came time to pay, they offered me a pen which didn't work, then when I asked for another one, it didn't work, and finally I asked a bus boy who gave me 5 pens which 4/5 didn't work. I felt so awkward having to do so much to get anyone's attention, and then to be offered a total of 6 non functioning pens and one barely functional one.

Danny never came by for drink refills and I never received the glass of red wine I'd ordered with my steak. . That said, the giant $58 NY Steak was amazing! One of THE best I've ever had with great flavor and texture. The grilled artichoke appetizer was also delish with a great smoky flavor. . Unfortunately, the fried mushroom appetizer was just OK. They did not taste house made. And, the full-rack of pork spareribs for $47 were very chewy and dry. The ribs did not come with any sauce and it took ages to flag down our server to get some. We decided to simply take most of it home to re-cook :-( . After we'd finished eating, we sat around with 1/2 eaten plates (and a pile of uneaten ribs) for the better part of 30 more minutes with zero service or follow-up. And by that time (two hours later), it was not busy and we really needed to head home. Gosh, did he go on break or something? When Danny finally arrived, we had to then ask for boxes and the bill. . The mediocre food, plus the forgetful service definitely put a damper on our family gathering. For a nearly $300 tab, the service really should have been better.

Honestly... save your money…read more I dropped by this Jordanian restaurant /hookah lounge to chill for a bit, have a beer, and enjoy some hookah. It looked like a cool vibe from the outside, but the whole experience left me super disappointed. When I walked in, the place was empty--just the owner and two staff. No greeting, no welcome, just awkward silence while the owner stayed on the phone trying to fix what sounded like a billing issue. The staff didn't speak much English (which is fine), but there was no real effort to help or explain anything either. Eventually, I got a hookah and a beer--$48.50 for one hookah and one beer. Yeah... nearly $50. No food, no extras. That's wild. Then I was told I had to smoke outside on the back patio, which turned out to be a tiny little corner--maybe 6 by 10 feet--with uncomfortable chairs and a random wood bench. It took 15 minutes to even get the hookah (remember, no one else was there), and when it arrived, it was totally burnt. Overpacked, harsh hits, and I ended up having to scrape it and fix it myself just to get it to smoke right. Wanna know the kicker? You only get three coals. That's it. No refills unless you pay for more. No one checked on us for almost an hour, and when I finally asked for more coals, they said (in broken English and mostly Spanish) that that's all you get unless you pay extra. I've smoked hookah all over the place--three coals is nothing, especially when you're charging $35+. No one came around, no vibe, no music, no nothing. Just me, my burnt hookah, and a beer that wasn't even cold. I really tried to find something redeeming about this place, but nothing hit. The service wasn't there, the product wasn't good, and it honestly felt like I was bothering them just by being there. Bottom line: for $50, you can do way better just about anywhere else--or even at home. Hope they turn it around, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.
