We absolutely loved the Lost Dog. The owner is a genius and was a pleasure to talk to. The guy should write a book on service because they get it right. Personalized service - no "step to the side, next!" nonsense. You see them making your coffee. The cortados we ordered were so good we can back the next morning and ordered them again. The ambience is perfect, If you can grab a seat outside, it's one of the best places in town to sit and relax. I can't wait to go back.

If you are in ShepardTown WVa. Stop by and get yourself a Tea or Coffee both are dynamite. The guys that served me were relaxed and easygoing and provided suggestions as to what I might be interested in tasting. So, walk up to the window and ask for a recommendation or pick what you like because you will enjoy it.

Lost Dog was always busy the two days I was in town! Absolutely fabulous little spot with an outside window to order. There's a huge menu so be prepared, you're gonna have a lot to choose from. If you're here - I say go for it. Go all out on a coffee or drink you wouldn't normally order because the selection here really is fun and outrageous. I saw a double stuffed Oreo Reese's iced latte on the menu! I went with the matcha and it was too die for. Fresh whipped cream and a drizzle of honey with a sprig of mint on top, ugh! Perfection. It tasted delicious and was just what I wanted for breakfast. There's a small outdoor area with two tables but it's definitely a grab and go kind of place. Grab a coffee and enjoy this beautiful street while supporting all the local businesses!

Awesome little shop with a great variety of coffees and teas! The owner was wonderful and my husband had a great time chatting with him. The place to order is out front, and there was a well earned and deserved line (though not a bad one!!). We both got drinks to go and my husband took home a couple of bags of coffee beans to try.

Lost Dog definitely wins the category of most creative coffee drink options in the area. They have a handful of espresso-seltzer drinks including the wet dog, something I think was called a lemon turbo, other espresso/coffee drinks, and smoothies. The wet dog can be thought of as a cream soda espresso and more or less consists of seltzer, cream, syrup, and espresso. The lemon turbo is something along the lines of espresso, seltzer, lemon juice, and syrup. It packs a sour and sweet punch and was my preference of the two drinks. For you coffee aficionados: neither drink allows you to really taste the espresso/coffee notes but are enjoyable nonetheless. During the pandemic, they've moved over to an order-at-window model which felt safe and comfortable. To try next time: smoothies

Cute little walk up window shop. After walking German street and checking out all the stores it was time for a drink stop. We were there on a Tuesday around noon and only had one person ahead of us. I got an iced dirty chai (had to let the ice melt a little, it was a tiny bit strong) and the kids went with a flavored whip cream cup with novelty drink umbrella; pineapple and chocolate. I like good finds like this on vacation.

Vanilla wet dog! Don't forget to squeeze your orange!

Delish, most unique stop you will find. The owner is very kind and I always love having small talk with him. My favorite is a vanilla wet dog, if you haven't tried it you MUST. Day made!

Trippy hippy arty coffee shop with wacky bizarre art. Hot chocolate is amazing with whipped cream, caramel and choc syrup. Great coffees. Roasted.

I'm not usually a huge ice cream person, but it felt like the perfect way to honor her. The shop itself was bright, clean, and welcoming, with several people already enjoying their treats. We grabbed a high table by the front window, which made for some great people-watching while we indulged. The menu immediately caught my eye. The range of flavors wasn't just broad--it was creative, unique, and full of options you don't see every day. That foodie spark kicked in, and I knew I had to go with a flight so I could taste a few. (Brilliant idea, by the way--four little cups of different flavors!) Our picks were: Grilled Lime Burnt Honey Crunchy PB Jelly Espresso Mascarpone Lemon Biscotti Brown Butter Pecan & Praline Each scoop came with a color-changing spoon (such a fun touch), and every flavor was creamy, consistent in texture, and absolutely delicious. My favorites were a tie between the Espresso Mascarpone (though I think it could stand strong without the lemon biscotti) and the Brown Butter Pecan & Praline. The Grilled Lime Burnt Honey was bright and unique, and the Crunchy PB Jelly was tasty but leaned a bit sweet for me. Overall, this was some of the best ice cream I've had--flavorful, high-quality, and true to its name. Add in the kind, helpful staff and the clean, cozy atmosphere, and it made for a really special stop. I left not just with a happy palate, but also with a new tradition: every year on August 22, I'll seek out a new ice cream spot in honor of my grandma. Amy & Alex's was the perfect place to start.

We've been loyal customers for over 12 years and have always appreciated the charm and warmth your store offers. Unfortunately, this visit was quite the opposite. My husband--just a week out from emergency surgery--was on his first short outing. We were both wearing masks for medical reasons. While that shouldn't matter, the staff member behind the register treated us with clear hostility from the moment we walked in. I greeted her politely, but she responded with an eye roll and a visibly unwelcoming attitude after looking at my mask first. That is ableism. Before my husband even entered the store, she abruptly and rudely asked, "Um, is that a service dog?" I answered honestly that our dog was not. Rather than calmly explaining store policy, she became increasingly short and vague. When I asked for clarification--since we've previously visited with our dog after receiving permission--she abruptly mentioned the health department had "just been in," and seemed flustered when it became clear we were unaware of any new policy. The tone throughout was dismissive, confrontational, and deeply unprofessional. Others in the store appeared just as surprised. It wasn't just about the dog; it felt discriminatory and ableist. We were simply trying to enjoy a brief outing and pick up a gift, but left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. This experience does not reflect the Shepherdstown community or the reputation your store has built over the years. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would appreciate a response, and I'm happy to revise or remove my review once this is addressed--it was simply my only way to reach you when other attempts failed.
