Stayed in Boone last week and hotel staff recommended this place for pizza. So I ordered two 12 inch specialty pizzas. Both suffered from being under cooked. Soft and soggy crusts. Flavor wise the toppings were right good but who wants wet pizza crusts. Both pizzas needed 3 minutes more in the oven. The hipster juice IPA was awesome otherwise I'd have given one star to this place. read more

Make sure you stop into Lost Province if you are visiting Boone! Great spot with an awesome patio. They even had live music inside while we were there. Wasn't super impressed with the beer (I tried a flight), but the food was amazing!! They have Neopolitan style pizza that is perfect. We tried the Rosticcerria. Everything tasted fresh and its enough for a couple of people to share. We also got the lost burger -- add pimento cheese of course. Burger was perfectly cooked and the pickled onion made it. They also serve hand cut fries. My boyfriend also got the Italian Salumi and it was delcious on fresh sourdough bread. I would have given this place a four, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. After we paid our check I noticed they had charged us for extra basil on our margarita pizza. My husband and I order margarita pizza often. It is one of our favorite things and every time we travel we love to try this item (as you can see from my reviews :) Over the years we have realized most places do not put enough basil so we always ask for more. Never have we been charged for making this request. I don't think it would have annoyed me so much if they had been up front about it, letting us know this would have been an extra charge so we could make the call. One our pizza came out my husband asked for some sauce on the side since the pizza was lacking it, once again another charge. Really they would have been better just charging more for their pizza vs. this nickel and dime stuff. Hence the bad taste in my mouth. The pizza itself wasn't that great. The dough was so so, lots of cheese, basil amount ok and that was with the extra, not enough sauce. Not memorable. It was fun though watching them make it though since we sat at the bar near the oven. Besides the pizza we got a flight of beers, which were ok, not the best we every had, but not bad. Really someone had told us they were hit and miss and they were correct. If I lived nearby or came back to Boone I might give them another try because other menu items looked interesting and not sure of other options in town. They've got the best pizza in Boone!! They've also got a great mixed greens salad, wings, charcuterie and fries. So many good options. Plus moonshine cocktails! Really enjoyed eating here! We got the wood fired wings which was amazing! We also got the wood fired pizza called mountain momma and it was DELICIOUS. FYI mondays is 6 dollar moonshine cocktail night which was awesome and I really enjoyed that! They also make really good beers. I recommend the pink velvet. Please give this place a try! Nice local brew pub. The beer selection here is fantastic. Lots of choices depending on what type if beer that you like. We got a flight and a few others. All the beers were great. Food: Pretzels are made in the wood burning oven. They taste like they are probably made with the same dough as the pizza crust. Good flavor, not quite pretzley enough for my liking. The BLT is great. Obviously fresh high quality ingredients were used. We also got a pizza. Again, high quality ingredients and ample portion size. Atmosphere: There is an upstairs and downstairs section. Upstairs has looks down on the main floor, outside, or on the floor where the beer is brewed. There was live music on the night we visited. It was good, not too loud, not too odd. Our server was knowledgeable and gave good recommendations, although she did disappear toward the end of our visit. read more

I am not going to a write long review on this establishment. I will say that what happened to us today was without doubt the worst example of service i have ever experienced!! We had patronized this business many times and found good food and good service but today ends that . After service of our meal my son was eating his salad and happened to notice something move. Apparently when they advertise farm to table...thats what you get for sure uncluding the fat juicy green worms.. We did not make a huge deal of this but called the waitress over and showed her. She did not seem alarmed ( which makes me wonder how often this happens) . She took my sons plate and said that the manager would be out. The manager returns with his plate and says...with no remose of what happened. "well the good thing is that it was organic, the bad thing is that it should not have happened". We were later presented with our bill with no adjustments . Poorest customer service and attitide i have ever experienced. My advise ....dont eat there period!!!...dirt is organic, cow manure is organic...who knows what you will find in your food. I am not Andy Zimmerman. read more

Ok...wifey and I had lunch here today...pretty good place! Very nice inside...had some jazz band playing...all very cool and interesting! We are not beer drinkers, so we cannot comment on that...but...we sat at the bar and a lot of people tried a lot of beer while we were there...all seemed to enjoy it! So...the food...I had their Italian Salumi sandwich...as I love Italian sandwiches, this was right up my alley! So...it had soppressata, capicola, gruyere cheese, pepperoncini pickled onions (VERY GOOD!), beer aioli on the Lost Province sourdough bread (YUMMY!). While a bit different from traditional Italian sandwiches...it was fantastic! Huge as well...I ate half of it...and still have the other half to go! Got French fries with it...I love it when I can have good fries with my Italian...and this was a great combo! Also, their in-house made ketchup was very good on my fries! Wifey ordered the Sweet Beet pizza. As this is a brewery and brick oven pizza place...ordering pizza was almost a must do! The Sweet Beet pizza has EVOO, Fresh Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Sweet Potatoes, Beets, Walnuts, Rosemary, Jalapeño Honey...what an unusual pizza! Wifey ate about half of it...she was ok with it, but not thrilled. I took one bite and simply could not get it out of my mouth fast enough! It was VERY earthy! Both Wifey and I thought I would like it...but I did not. OK...let's not let the pizza speak for this restaurant...I want to be REALLY clear...this was PERSONAL taste, not the execution of the pizza. That was very good...it was simply that wifey and I stretched our taste buds...her buds were stretched, mine broke! Again...not the restaurant's fault at all! We will be back...and have more pizza...but not the Sweet Beet! Service...this has been discussed several times here...we had excellent service! Great beer selections and pizza is amazing but staff is hit or miss! Stopped by on a Saturday night and red headed hostess informed us it was a 2 1/2 hour wait. So we went down the road for drinks and appetizers somewhere else. Called in about 1 hour later and asked what the wait was...a nice young lady said about 30 minutes and open seats at bar. So we arrived and the same hostess as we met previously informed us again kinda rudely that we were last on the list. Anyway we went to bar and ordered drinks and paid for them, we received 2 out of four drinks and then bartender decided to count out the tip jar on the bar...so about 4/5 minutes later we asked her for the other drinks..which she kindly apologized for. Less then 30 minutes we were seated and had a great waiter along with 2 wonderful pizzas which came out very quickly. Maybe it had been a long night for some of the staff?? read more

Went there today to grab a drink. We were seated and then...nothing. My husband went up to the bar to order our drinks. A guy I assume was the manager saw me, pointed at me to a server, but did not come over. Eventually he went to my husband who is now ordering at the bar and said the waitress will come to us. Meanwhile, waitress comes to me. She says I'm sorry, we were switching shifts, I'll bring you your drinks. Then, she did not. They sat there until my husband went to get them from the bar. Lost Province is one of our favorite places in Boone. The setting is fun and family friendly, and the menu is peppered with locally sourced foods and ingredients. And oh the food! Every single pizza is amazing. (We've tried them all!) The pickle platter and wood-fired pretzel appetizers are hard to turn down. Regardless of the chef's weird attraction to beets (ugh), their salads are fresh and tasty and served with a choice of homemade dressings. Even the shrimp po'boy is pretty darn good with lightly-breaded shrimp and homemade remoulade, which is hard to find in the mountains. The beers are always fantastic. Don't forget to take a walk upstairs where you can peek down into the brewing room. The Yadkin Valley red wine is also very good, but the $5 serving is a bit skimpy. Just sayin... One thing... don't expect the friendliest, quickest service, and I'd avoid trivia night and other heavily crowded events. (It can get crazy loud and service WILL be slow.) Also, unless you don't mind getting baptized with wood ash and car exhaust fumes while you eat, I'd highly recommend avoiding the deck seating area. (It could use a little sprucing up.) However, even though the noise level and crowds will be worse, if you can catch a live band here, it's great family fun and fantastic food! read more

I freely admit, that I am a snob when it comes to Pizza. Anything that comes out of a store is automatically labeled cardboard Pizza. I won't go to most chains, because there may be more cheese on them, but doesn't make them great pizzas. We spent a couple of days in Boone and hoped for find a really unique place for dinner. The desk clerk at the hotel recommended this restaurant to us. It was a nice evening, so we elected to eat outside. There were two other parties with dogs at nearby tables. We like dogs, but, in my opinion, it was a bit too small of an area to allow animals. We found the dogs brushing against us multiple times during the meal, begging for attention, and scrounging for scraps under our table. Again, we love dogs, but didn't particularly care to share our romantic dinner for 2 with other people's pets. Hubby and I shared the beet/arugula/goat cheese salad and a pizza. Hubby ordered a beer. I ordered iced tea. The server was friendly and pleasant. Our drinks were brought promptly. My husband said the beer was good, but didn't compete with other similar beers he has tried lately. Nobody ever offered to refill my tea, even though I quickly emptied my small mason jar glass before the entree arrived. The salad had tender greens, a light lemony dressing, and a small serving of roasted beets. The beets were good, but could have stood just a little more roasting, as they were still pretty crunchy inside. A nice and flavorful salad, though. Our pizza was brought out by an employee other than our server. As he placed the pizza on our table, he commented "that's the strangest looking pizza that I have seen!" We took that as a joke....not sure what he meant. It was more oblong than round and had some areas of bubbled-up pizza dough which were burnt black on top. Maybe that is what he was commenting on. Well, okay. I guess there is going to be some char with a traditionally baked pizza, so we ignored his comment and dug in. The pizza's taste? Meh. Such a scant amount of sauce that it was barely visible, so it did not have the acidic element that a pizza usually has. Very scant amount of Italian sausage. Just a few bits of tiny romano cheese ribbons on top. If there was other cheese, it wasn't very evident. It also had a very strong taste of raw garlic. Hubby said that he bit into a large piece of crunchy, uncooked garlic. There were also some uncooked herbs on top....maybe thyme? In my opinion, the taste of the herbs did not enhance the other flavors and the raw taste overpowered everything else. The pizza was very thin and light, which is a good thing if you are looking for a lighter meal. Our experience was okay, but not memorable. We will most likely seek out another establishment to try next time we are in Boone. read more

Hostess was young and inattentive and the bartender that ultimately brought me my food was slow and unfriendly. We came here over Labor Day. One person in our party was excited about getting fish and chips. Turns out, they were out of fish. We ordered the kale Caesar salad and it was pretty tasty. We had a flight of beer that was good. But the service ruined our experience. After waiting for our food for over an hour after we ordered, the server came over to tell us they were out of our pizza! Okay I get that a restaurant can run out of ingredients and it gets busy over the holiday, but PLEASE don't wait an hour after we order to tell us. And be up front with people when you're out of things instead of waiting until after they've made a selection on the menu. Overall, the food was pretty decent but server/management needs a makeover. read more

There was a wait to get our table and the area was crowded, but we decided to wait for a table while we grabbed beers at the bar. Lost Province is a keeper! The food was delicious and the service was charming. We started with the pretzel and added the cheese sauce. This was absolutely delicious! Warm and crusty with just the right amount of salt. I had the soup of the day, tomato bisque, which was really flavorful, and the arugula salad with roasted beets and goat cheese. This salad was so fresh, just the right amount of dressing and really delicious. Both the soup and salad were very generous servings! My daughter had the mixed greens salad with fried chicken, which was crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside- just the way it's supposed to be! We shared the fresh apple crisp with vanilla ice cream, which was perfect- all apples and and not swimming in sugary syrup. Our waiter was so helpful, I wasn't sure which beer, so he brought samples of two! What a great place , I can't wait to return. read more

It's hard to beat Lost Province's formidable food and drink combo: Hand-tossed pizza and freshly brewed beer. I really enjoy frequenting here when in Boone. Be prepared for a wait most nights unless you show up quite early (which I never seem to do). Good news is that you can grab one of their beers while you wait! Also, sitting at the bar is a fun experience because you can see the food being made in their open kitchen. I tried the sweet beet pizza on my most recent visit, which was by far my favorite pizza that I've tried there. The combination of beets, honey, walnuts, and lotsa cheese was delicious. Every time I've been, they've had a good range of beer choices. I do wish the tap list had more stability because I've really enjoyed a few that weren't on tap when I returned. My only complaint is with the speed of service. Lost Province is always hopping, so I feel for the cooks and wait staff. However, I asked for a side of marinara sauce that took 20 minutes to be brought out. I've also had to wait quite some time for my check or for a drink. In Boone for the weekend and I am always down for a brewery place! We decided to celebrate my husbands birthday a bit early and reward ourselves with a dinner here. We got an order of their pizza oven pretzels with their pimento cheese dip... which was amazing!!! We also got a margarita pizza and their buffalo pizza... all amazingly Delish! Also got a flight... tried their blonde, stout, and two others.... the stout was the best one.... so awesome! If you are in the Boone area and want something really great... this is the place. The people sitting next to us got a beet salad which looked awesome as well as a beautiful cheese and meat platter... the cheese platter looked awesome... olives, cheese, salami, fruit walnuts bread and honey.... would definitely recommend that... next time I'm n the Boone are I will be coming back and trying one of their cheese platters.
