Over the next few days we also noticed the following: 1) under the bed there are numerous boxes, two microwaves and a pair of dirty socks. 2) 2 out of 4 of the bathroom light bulbs were not working. 3) the bathroom cabinet has a bunch of random stuff including an empty tp roll. 4) the fireplace was taken apart and the thermostat was hanging off the wall. 5) a candy wrapper under the couch. 6) top of the fridge was disgustingly dirty. 7) cabinets are messy and disorganized. 8) carpets are super dirty. 9) random sleds and rubber glove in parking area. 10) windows are also disgusting. This place doesn't feel like a rental. It feels like someone's house that wasn't expecting guests. Creepy. Also, the "hot tub" is not hot and doesn't have functioning jets. It seems to have been that way for a long time. I reached out to management and they completely brushed off my concerns. They came by to put the fireplace back together and screw in the light bulbs that weren't working, but otherwise nothing. They tried to say it was because it was a same day turn around, but this place is chronically dirty and disorganized. I get that the cabin is old, but for $200/ night I would expect it to be clean. We will never stay here again and we WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone! There are way better places to stay.

The resort is on Lucky Louie Rd do not turn into Wolf Song Road. It'll take you in a long dirt road that does but up to the back of the resort property, but not accessible by vehicle to get to the cabins. Our studio cabin was small but cute. The furniture was made with logs, very rustic. The couch is a log frame with with a futon mattress. The reason we chose the wolf ridge resort is it was dog friendly without breaking the bank. For a three night stay, dog & air bnb fees we paid just little over $400. With that being said, the room had the basic amenities. A coffee pot with some coffee provided. A microwave, fridge. All what you would envision in a hotel room not a house. They did have a small single burner you could plug in and cook. We did not use it so I can't attest it's usability. There was a pot and pan available but no oil or anything like that in the cabin. The bed was comfortable. I must tell you internet is spotty and they only have Netflix available for TV watching. It was ridiculous to even attempt setting it up. We finally lost patience and used our phones and our data to watch shows. Thankfully we brought our iPad. The property itself is relaxing. The pool, while we didn't use it, wasn't hot, thank goodness because I wouldn't have gone in it. The warming house which has a fireplace and ping pong table along with the playground and horse shoe pits at one time were probably really well loved. They remind me of the toy story toys that at one point were well-loved. We did play ping pong and utilized the horse show pits. They were in really rough conditions and hard to play but was fun anyway. What I loved about this place is it's peaceful serenity. They had a river trail to the river. We brought our beach chairs from home and took them down to the river and relaxed which is one of my fav things to do, no one else was down there so we had the place to ourselves and I could let my dog run free. Overall a decent place to stay for the price, I'd say it's worth the money. The resort is about 15 minutes from Twisp and less than 10 minutes from Winthrop. A real pretty drive. Of course the Methow valley is beautiful where you drive.

We stayed here from July 3-10 for my 30th birthday trip, and I genuinely can't imagine a better home base. In fact, I would go as far as saying Mazama Ranch House isn't just a place to sleep, it's a destination and retreat all on its own. When I was researching places to stay for a week of hiking in the North Cascades, I had a few priorities. I wanted to be close enough to the park that we weren't spending hours driving every day. I wanted peace and quiet, not crowds. Most importantly, I wanted to feel immersed in nature. Mazama Ranch House exceeded every expectation. We stayed in one of the double queen rooms in the Wings, and it was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The kitchenette had everything we needed, and the porches on both sides of the building were perfect for enjoying the sunrise with coffee and watching the sunset after long days on the trail. Every detail made it feel cozy without sacrificing functionality. One of the biggest surprises was how convenient the location was. We could walk to the Mazama Store for groceries and gas, as well as the nearby restaurant/brewery, yet the property still felt wonderfully secluded. The grounds are absolutely stunning. Wide-open green meadows and fields, ponderosa pines with singing birds, stunning landscaping, hammocks, picnic tables, peaceful walking paths, and a hot tub that quickly became our favorite post-hike tradition. After spending 8-10 hours exploring North Cascades each day, soaking in the hot tub while surrounded by nothing but nature was exactly what we needed before doing it all again the next morning. What really stood out was the atmosphere. Everyone staying there seemed to be seeking the same thing: peace, adventure, and an appreciation for the outdoors. It never felt crowded or noisy, just calm and restorative. Check-in couldn't have been easier. Our room number was waiting on a sticky note at the front entrance, and everything was ready when we arrived. During our week-long stay, housekeeping checked in to see if we needed fresh towels or anything else, and every interaction was warm and welcoming. We also had the chance to meet one of the owners, who took the time to chat with us and recommend several fantastic hikes around Mazama outside the national park. That personal touch made an already memorable stay even more special. This is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave. I can already picture myself returning for another hiking trip, a birthday getaway, an anniversary, or simply a quiet weekend to disconnect and recharge. Leaving was honestly the hardest part. I wasn't ready to trade the peaceful mornings, mountain air, and incredible tranquility for everyday life. If you're looking for luxury, you'll find it here in a different way. Not through extravagance, but through simplicity, thoughtful hospitality, breathtaking surroundings, and the kind of peace that's becoming harder and harder to find. Mazama Ranch House made my 30th birthday trip unforgettable, and without question, we'll be back.

Etc.) didn't work but it wasn't a huge issue because it wasn't too cold and you're in nature - why need a TV? * Breakfast is homemade and they say it's from 8 - 9:30 AM but really all the food is gone around 9. Again, not really an issue for us since we didn't really eat the breakfast. Good coffee though :)

My friends and I have been renting cabins here for years to do some winter cross-country skiing. (I eventually even got married here one summer and these guys were great to work with). The cabins are a bit pricier than getting a hotel, but they're worth it -- spacious, good for big groups and very convenient if you're a cross-country skiing fiend. You can ski right from your cabin to connect with miles of trails. It's not far to get to the Mazama trails, the town of Mazama and the Freestone Inn. And it's great to jump into the shared hot tub to relax muscles after a long day of skiing. The only unfortunate thing is that the cabins don't allow pets. Since getting a dog last year, we regret that we haven't been able to make it back there. If they did allow dogs, we'll be back!

All the cabins we have stayed in are clean, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. Everything you need is there. The location is magnificent. Each hideaway is tucked in the woods with views of the valley, and mountains around. I haven't been there in the snow, but I bet it is drop dead gorgeous. I have seen pictures, it is amazing. One of my favorite are the wild animals, there are deer, cute chipmunks, birds and birds, even ants, and beetles. Along the Methow River we have even seen Bald Eagles. Easy hikes for the whole family. Happily we return to our cabin where our family can eat in, everything we need is supplied to prepare the meals we brought. I have recommended Timberline Meadows to many, and they also feel the same way. Timberline is a real gem! Don't miss it.

Ultimately we chose Spring Creek Ranch for the following reasons: -beautiful venue, with amazing trees which we really wanted because we wanted to get married under an epicly beautiful tree -Sarah, great communication, flexibility and attention to detail -affordability, we rented it for the full weekend at the price we would have paid to rent a place for an afternoon at traditional fancy wedding venue -location, walking distance to Winthrop meant we didn't have to worry about how to get guests home if they partied hard -extremely flexible, no requirements to use specific vendors for anything and a reasonable sound policy allowing for the late night party we wanted. On the way into Ross, we were the first at the dock: called in to the office and were told 20-30 min. A truck did arrive after 30 min, but it was loaded with passengers for the ferry that first needed to unload, then ferry passengers (who in the meantime arrived) were loaded in front of us onto the truck and left. Then, a second truck with kayaks came - these were then unloaded and we were finally loaded onto a very stinky, loud, and bumpy diesel truck - with us being right behind the exhaust pipe. The ordeal took about 2 hours. On the way back, we were _again_ the first at the dock and told 20-30 min. A truck did arrive after 20 min, but it was loaded with a motorboat that arrived _after_ us. Our kayaks then did not fit safely on the truck and the driver said "I need to leave.". To my request if they can get a driver for the second truck, someone on the other end of the radio replied "We do not have more than 1 truck on the road, and we're short staffed." About an hour later, the truck returns full of canoes, that first needed to be unloaded and finally our kayaks are loaded onto the truck. The truck driver was switched out with a crew of _2_ drivers. Short staffed? Only 1 truck on the road? This return trip took about 2.5 hours. 2 more things about Ross Lake Resort: - They do not assume any reliability for portaging, so whatever breaks even if they loaded it, is not their fault. - They have a noisy generator running all day long. Lies, unreliable service and prioritizing their own resort guests ahead of others makes this a -1/5 in my book.

But a couple of weeks ago I was taking a spontaneous trip up the North Cascades Highway and was looking for a place to stay in/near Winthrop. Literally the ONLY place with availability was the North Cascades Mountain Hostel. So, a bit reluctantly, I booked a bed. Imagine my surprise when I arrived. This place was fantastic. So clean and quiet, and just a block from Winthrop's cowboy-themed main street. I quickly found my bottom bunk and went to explore the town - but not before chatting with another hostel guest, who was from Germany and had just finished the PCT. So cool! After galavanting around the wooden sidewalks and having a beer at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery I returned to the hostel, grabbed a book of short stories from the bookshelf in the kitchen, and chit-chatted with the only other person sharing my room (a woman from Montana) until I drifted off to sleep. This place was clean and cute and I'd definitely stay there again. I was there during covid, so they are doing limited occupancy and masks are required. It was a great deal for $38/night, which I booked directly on their website.

I left with my sides aching from laughter and my feet blistered from forging 18 mile trails with new hostel friends on treks that I never imagined possible on my own. I chose this place as a home base for doing some day hiking in the North Cascades based on yelp and tripadvisor reviews, and all of the 5 star ratings are spot on - I couldn't have been happier with my decision. The beds were super comfy for my aching bones, and even as a light sleeper I felt well rested here, and I never had to wait to use the shower. This is the perfect location for visiting some absolutely extraordinary regions of the North Cascades, and the Mazama Store is just a short drive away for the best pre-hike breakfast and coffee and top-notch trail snacks. As a solo female traveller relatively new to hostels in the US, I was a bit skeptical going into this simply because I wasn't sure what to expect, but I felt at ease as soon as I walked through the bicycle-spoked gate, and came out feeling like I had made lifelong friends. The owner Paul could not have been more accommodating, and I absolutely loved snuggling with the resident black lab "Biscuit". The whole layout of the hostel is really designed for people to easily connect with one another and I really appreciated that. I had done a lot of research on the N. Cascades going into this trip, overwhelmed at times by all the possibilities of trails to explore, and Paul affirmed my routes by offering additional pieces of helpful advice that only a local could really affirm. He had so many great insider tips on how to make the most of my time in the North Cascades and it was so very enriching having his "insiders insight" guiding me along. He was very encouraging of my excursions, and I think had it not been for his insider tips I may not have explored quite as much as I did! For example, doing Cutthroat pass the entire way through and hitching a ride back. As an East Coaster, I had a lot of skepticism about hitchhiking - but I ended up meeting a ton of badass women hiking solo on the trail that day, and the folks I ended up hitching back with I had actually met a day earlier doing Maple Pass. Trail magic :) He also had great suggestions on places to eat (Copper Glance fulfilled my grilled cheese craving for at least another year!!!) and other ways to spend time in the quirky, charming, adventurous, outdoorsy little town of Winthrop. I also had a ton of fun cooking "family dinners" with other folks from the hostel - it was such a great way to come together and get to know my fellow travelers and I really appreciated how open the other guests were to conversation and getting to know one another. I can't think of a single reason why anyone wouldn't want to book a stay at N. Cascades Mountain Hostel. Don't think twice. You'll have a total blast. I can't wait to go back!!
