Did not stay over night at the resort (wish we could have), but took the Ross Lake Trail and rented a motor boat for the day. Absolute wonderful experience that you will cherish! Friendly staff upon arrival. Trail was easy to navigate and then we took the ferry from the resort after returning which was awesome. Definitely recommend visiting this unique, picturesque spot.

So fun! You can rent a boat, the views are amazing, and all the different little waterfalls are beautiful

Stehekin, Washington is a hidden, remote oasis, and I'm so grateful I had the chance to visit and…read morestay at the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin earlier this month. I planned my trip to North Cascades National Park a bit later than usual and was nervous that lodging options would be limited. Luckily, with a bit of sleuthing, I discovered the lodge typically has a two night minimum but that there happened to be a single night available on the exact day I was planning to visit. One quick phone call later, I had a room at the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin booked! Our ferry ride over was less than ideal (despite the stunning views) so the moment we arrived in Stehekin my entire mood shifted. The scenery somehow became even more breathtaking and the peaceful remoteness of the area was *exactly* what I had been craving. I had been looking at pictures of Stehekin in the days leading up to my trip, eagerly awaiting my own experience. Check in at the lodge was quick and easy due to its perfect location just steps from the ferry landing. Our room had a classic lodge feel (simple but cozy) with two beds (yahoo), a larger-than-expected bathroom, a small kitchenette (mini fridge and coffee maker), and a patio with two chairs. The bed was super comfortable, I took a great nap and had an excellent night of sleep as well. The patio was a wonderful spot to relax in the evening even though all rooms share that setup and it's a popular hangout in the evenings. The only minor drawback was the occasional passing car which slightly interrupted the otherwise serene lake views and peace and quiet. For dinner, we ate at the lodge's restaurant (The Landing) where I ordered a delicious sandwich with fries. It's counter service setup though staff brings your food to the table. The service was friendly and efficient. While the prices were on the higher side, it's understandable given the remoteness of the location and well worth it, in my opinion. On the topic of price, there is no free WiFi at the lodge, you have to pay $5 for a designated amount of WiFi (either data or 24 hours, whichever comes first). The red bus and blue bus are added costs as well and there are no bikes available for rent at the lodge. Even so, one of my favorite parts of staying at the lodge was the community feel, ESPECIALLY with so many PCT hikers passing through!!!! Some were staying overnight, others were recharging their phones, grabbing food, or just relaxing while waiting out the heat. I absolutely loved chatting with the thruhikers - they were so kind, so, so inspiring, and full of stories even though they just recently set out on their treks southbound to Mexico. I genuinely wish them the best on their incredible, life-changing journey #jealous. All in all, North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin is the perfect base for experiencing this magical corner of Washington. I can't wait to return and next time, I'll hope to stay even longer.

For example, we were sitting at the landing, waiting for the boat to take us back to Chelan, and we saw a deer wander by followed by bald eagle landing in a tree a few hundred feet away. That happened in the span of 10 minutes. Needless to say, if you've never been up this direction, it's well worth your trip! the lodge is literally one of the only businesses up here, and if you're not staying here, the main reason you would visit is to grab something from the small store, or to grab food from the restaurant. We tend to come here for lunch on the day that we are leaving, and it never disappoints. The burgers are good, the sandwiches are solid, and on our last trip, we found that the desserts are nice. Nothing fancy, but certainly a step up from Camping food for anyone that's coming off the PCT! They have plenty of beer and wine options. We found it was surprisingly nice to have a glass of a red blend on the deck overlooking lake Chelan! Again, a spot well worth checking out and one that has some solid option for your remote eating and drinking pleasure!

Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

We got to start setting things up the night before, so the morning wasn't super crazy! Working with Kendra and Adrienne was superb! They are so kind and helpful making sure you have everything that you need, and all questions are answered. Kendra helped set up the weekend and every time we got to chat, she remembered all of our details and had the best suggestions for vendors and layouts. Adriene was there day of and helped answer last minute questions, located parking signage, and managed vendor questions with ease! The lodge made some recent upgrades so the ceremony and reception space (new tables and arch) was absolutely gorgeous! Check in/Check out is easy if you follow their list, and the flow of the wedding day was a breeze because everything was at the same place! Our group is already planning an anniversary trip for us because the lodge was so much fun! Thank you, Wallace Falls Lodge and team!

We enjoyed the proximity to the town and the amazing view of the water from the rooftop deck. The kids enjoyed the freedom to wander around town and look in the shops, and enjoyed the game store. We watched the parade that must have had everyone in town participating! We are not from a small town. This was fun for us. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and we had a room with a soaking tub and a giant shower. The pull-out couch was "ok" according to my son. One thing I will say that was missing was a common area indoors for people to meet up and socialize outside of the restaurant. We have traveled often with these families, and we like to find areas to play cards and spend time together. The food at the restaurant was good. We had a poor experience with one of the rooftop bartenders. He looked like he had been there a long time and really had no interest in answering questions or engaging with the town. His younger companion bartender was friendly and welcoming. Advice: In the evening, it cools down tremendously on the rooftop, so you will need blankets even though there are a couple of fireplaces for ambiance.

The details are too long an involved to go into, but suffice it to say in a three night stay, the evening meals two of the three nights were 2 hour almost comical mis-adventures. After the last meal, capped off by the smell of a rotten cleaning rag left on the table behind us (reeking of rotten fish) my wife and I just lost it laughing at the complete absurdity of the whole situation. Oh, and by the way, the food ain't cheap. After the first night, I would have eaten outside the lodge, but that is impractical as the closest restaurants are in Winthrop which is mostly closed in the evening and a pretty tough drive down slick roads and back. To be fair, the new years eve celebratory meal (at $105 PP) was pretty good and not chaotic. (I am told the lodge owners were dining there that evening which may have affected the service) The lodge itself is nice, although our room, a fireplace room in the Gardner lodge was pretty worn and dated. In my mind, this place is nowhere worth what they charge and the difficulty of getting there. The upscale lodges in Leavenworth are for better,
