They basically are your own cabins with the fire place in each room and bunk beds for the kids. Very close to multiple ski resorts and very close to downtown truckee. Very clean, spacious and the guy I spoke with on the phone that manages the place is great to work with, I'm guessing he is the owner. Self check in with code at the doors to rooms make it easy. 10/10 recommend. Not a lot of snow right now but we will definitely be back with the family again next time we have a lot of snow. Possibly may even come back during summer to enjoy the lake. Price is reasonable, definitely worth every penny.

We booked a family stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe for myself, my wife, and our six-year-old…read moreson. A few days before our trip, our son was diagnosed and tested positive for RSV. I called and asked for a reservation modification given the circumstances, and I was completely open to alternative solutions: a date modification, Marriott Bonvoy points to rebook on our own, a refund, or anything reasonable. We just wanted some flexibility. What followed was the usual runaround. We called the Ritz-Carlton directly, they told us they couldn't help because we booked through American Express. So we called Amex, whose concierge team was empathetic and professional. They reached out to the Ritz-Carlton on our behalf. After waiting 24 hours and following up, we were told that Ritz-Carlton management responded via email and declined to allow modifications to the reservation and still expect us at the property unless we pay a $750 cancellation fee. We presented a positive diagnosis of a contagious virus, were willing to accept any reasonable accommodation; a date change, points, anything, and the answer was no. This raises a serious concern beyond our personal frustration. If the Ritz-Carlton would rather a family show up carrying a contagious virus than accommodate a date change, what does that say about their commitment to the health and safety of their guests and staff? How many other sick guests have they pressured to check in rather than lose a night's revenue? What about employees who may face the same inflexibility when they're ill? For a brand that markets itself as the gold standard of hospitality, this experience seems like the opposite.

When you book a stay at a high-end luxury resort, you expect top-tier service, exceptional dining,…read moreand attention to detail. Sadly, this property fell far short of those expectations. Dining Experience Extremely Underwhelming There are three dining options on-site: * A Mexican restaurant that operates essentially like fast food you stand in line, order at the counter, receive a number, and seat yourself. Paying over $100 for what amounted to street tacos of fast-food quality felt unreasonable and excessive. * A lobby restaurant with average offerings. * A so-called "fine dining" restaurant that was far from fine dining in both quality and execution. For a resort at this level, the culinary experience should be a highlight, not a regret. Breakfast Buffet - A Complete Letdown The breakfast buffet was honestly the biggest rip-off we've experienced at a five-star resort. The food was stale and cold, the selection was minimal, and even basic items like croissants tasted old. After paying over $200, we left basically with half a latte and the kids having hot chocolate. We returned to our room hoping to order room service only to be told we couldn't place an order until 11:30 AM. Service & Facilities The staff members themselves were friendly and polite. However, the overall service was consistently slow. There were also noticeable issues in the room: * Cloudy water from the sink and bathtub. * Low water pressure in the shower. For a property positioned as a luxury destination, these details matter. Another reason we booked this hotel is I read this resort is very family friendly and accommodating for children. We do have two small kids however any time we tried to go to the kids club no one was there. We had to ask multiple staff where was the kids activity and no one could answer. Then some of the events got canceled with no replacement or activity for the kids. The hotel was filled with families and many kids all around. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the staff remained courteous, and during our visit there was a snowstorm for two of the days, which understandably led to some understaffing due to road closures. That said, weather-related challenges do not excuse the quality of food, pricing structure, or basic room standards. At this price point, expectations are high and they should be. Unfortunately, this stay did not deliver the luxury experience we anticipated.

This place is so cool and not cool at the same time…read more.. Here's the bad stuff... 1. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

Here's an update…read more Grand Sierra Resort - Frustrating Stay Despite Being a Loyal Guest / 5 I have been coming to the Grand Sierra Resort annually for years -- once for my grandson's basketball tournament at the convention center, and again each July for a golf tournament. I consider myself a loyal, returning guest, which made this past weekend's experience all the more disappointing. When I checked in, the receptionist was genuinely kind and helpful -- a real bright spot. She offered me a room upgrade for $45 more per night and assured me she could place me on the same floor as my son, just down the hallway. I was excited. However, she then said she needed her manager's approval. The manager came over, barely acknowledged me, and flatly said no -- apparently reserving those rooms for other purposes. The receptionist apologized, but the damage was done. For a guest who returns here every year, that interaction felt dismissive and discouraging. The receptionist herself was wonderful, but the manager's handling of the situation left me feeling like my loyalty meant nothing. Later that evening around 8:30 PM, we headed back up to our room on the seventh floor and discovered that only one of the three elevators was operational. What followed was a 20-minute wait just to get on an elevator, packed in with other frustrated guests -- on a Saturday night, no less. Beyond the inconvenience, I couldn't help but think about what could happen in an emergency with two elevators out of service. That is a serious safety concern that management needs to address immediately. Outside of these issues, the rest of the stay was business as usual and accommodating. But given my history with this property, I expect better -- and loyal guests deserve better. I hope the Grand Sierra takes this feedback seriously before my next visit.

I have to put 1 star because I wasn't able to experience anything…read more Today I just put down my phone regarding to this reservation the 6th times. One village has been always been a place we wanted to try out, however they never made themselves available. We made this reservation more than a month ahead of time. Unfortunately I found out immediately I can not make it on that weekend and I was trying to cancel the reservation. Without luck trying everything on the website and apps, I called in. I was kicked between Hyatt Globalist hotline, One village office, Hyatt vacation club a few times. One time, I waited on line for more than an hour ending up being approved for a cancellation free of charge. I got an email address, I was informed that I need to send in my info and they will take care of the cancellation. Guess what? Two days later I got the response that there was no evidence or proof that they agreed that they will cancel it for me. Good point! How do I get evidence from customer calls? Does anyone record while they are calling with customer service? Ok, I called Hyatt again, they must have recorded it. I went through two levels of escalation, and got feedbacks that they will review the record. I am still waiting. There are 15 days till the reservation and I will see what more I need to do. Above is the whole situation, here's the take-away: - Horrible customer services. Instead of thinking for and trying to resolve problems for the guests, the only thing they did is to kick the balls around. No one is willing to take any extra miles to help. On the contrary, everyone was trying to escape from interacting. For at least three times in the call, I got transferred abruptly without even being notified. - One village place residences has very inflexible booking process. If you are not sure you are going, be careful. You will loose it all, once you click the button, and they don't care. - No leadership. It's obvious that Hyatt Vacation Club do not have a central decision making process. So everyone can make some decision and also no one can make it. That's why guests got kicked back and forth. Have you experienced being transferred 4 times on one customer service call? Each time is a full explanation, each time people just kicked balls. Now with this attitude, I have deep doubt that they will provide good hospitality and services on site as the whole team's mindset is not on how to care for guests. So my advice is, please avoid this place. Updated April 9th. Above was the comment I made previously and I got contacted by HVC customer service. Eventually they sent an email explaining how time sharing works and it's too late so they can not do anything. Here's the point I replied: - First of all it was too late because they kept kicking customer around for 6 times, 2 weeks without actually trying to take actions. - Secondly, it was apparent that Hyatt customer service promised that the reservation will be cancelled without penalty. The Hyatt customer service representative reprents Hyatt. If this is a mistake or misinformation. I am wondering why in all the later communication no one talked about to make up the mistakes that your representative made. And even more, Hyatt asked customer to provide evidence of communications ? - At last, what I am complaining about, is not just the fact that the cancellation can not be done, is the fact through this whole process, how messy and unorganized Hyatt's customer service communication was. I could feel in this whole process, the goal of every customer service was not to address customer's concerns but to pick up and hang off the phone without a trouble made to themselves.

We stayed at the "one village place residences" from Saturday - Wednesday right after Thanksgiving…read more Super cute resort with quite a few things to do. We really enjoyed our stay here and definitely will be back. Some things I enjoyed specifically about our room: Each room has its only heating and cooling system so you can control each area. The master baths bathtub is like the biggest tub I've ever seen. I loved how many lights I could dim. Both couches were pull out couches which made 4 sleeping areas if needed. The private parking right next to our elevator. The gondola lifts access right inside our lobby. The washer and dryer. Little bit of everything to make our stay comfortable such as extra towels, laundry soap plenty of extra bedding and toilet paper. My personal complaints: The bedding and pillows at our room were pretty cheap quality. Blankets and sheets were super stiff and uncomfortable pillows super flat. Didn't sleep well or fall asleep well. The bath tub and shower didn't work in the spare room. On Saturday night (I assume weekends the machines running right outside our balcony ran super late and pretty early. Typically I like some white noise but I can see how that would be very disturbing to others.) The hot tub on our site is completely shut down. There was an obnoxious amount of little tables everywhere I just ended up trying to pile everything in an area to make walking room Lastly there isn't any really good coffee at the entire resort I tried every spot including the coffee that was provided in our room. Overall great experience. Beautiful buildings. Friendly staff everywhere.

Equipment is included for kids 8 and under (size 4 and under). Steal! At that price point, this is the perfect snow day with a group of kids. For anyone outside of that range, rentals are $59 flat, whether you stay two hours or all day. Go all day to maximize your rentals! That said, the kids play area was pretty underwhelming for my kids (ages 10-12). The slopes were short, not all lanes were open, and there was only one black magic carpet running. That meant tubers, snowboarders, and skiers were all sharing it, which slowed things down quite a bit. Getting around wasn't the easiest either. There's only one entrance and exit and into the resort, so you're walking everything in while the kids carry their gear. Not terrible, but definitely inconvenient. We were told there was a tram running every 5 minutes, but it wasn't operating that day. My guess is they scale back operations on discounted days (fewer lanes open, no tram, only one black magic carpet). Parking was easy for the only entrance, which I appreciated, but it would be so much better if there was direct access to the kids area from the lot. Service was subpar. Staff weren't rude, but definitely not warm or helpful. No one showed the kids how to put on their boots or gear, and we weren't told helmets were required until my kids were already at the top of the slope, so I had to go all the way back to rentals. Also worth noting: kids 8 and under are restricted to the kids area only (no lifts or bigger slopes), which makes sense, but that wasn't clearly communicated upfront. Overall, the kids still had fun, and for $35, it's worth it. But I would only come back on a discounted day. I wouldn't pay full price for the experience as it currently is.

My husband and I took a day off to take our family here for the day to have fun, when we purchased…read morethe tickets 2 kids under 8 and 3 adults and went on to have fun, the tubes were broken up from the bottom that helps you slide on the snow, there was no strings attached to it either for us to be able to pull them up, specially if you have kids can you imagine how hard it is to carry the tubes with you falling apart and still have to help your kids not falling and carrying their tube as well ?!! On top of that once we finally got to the top, and sat down on the tube and started sliding, we got stuck all through out the slope all the way down pushing with our hands, and the kids couldn't even reach with their hand to push themselves down. What a disappointment!!!! Sooo expensive, besides our day was ruined, the kids were so sad and down because of it. I went to the reception to request our refund because we had to leave to try to find another place to go have fun if possible, they said they couldn't do the refund there but to email costumer service. So I did. As soon as we got to the car. The next day they answered and said since the adults area was not optimal they would refund me those tickets even though it was against policy, but the kids they wouldn't as their area was working fine. We didn't even use the kids area, we went to the adults area, all of us!! Besides, we're we supposed to let a couple kids have fun and not the others ?? Also, shouldn't you warn people about it before they purchase the tickets ???? Is this part of their scam ? And the material broken and not operational? A hazard even!!! What a inconsiderate thing to do from their part. Well, I said I wanted the full amount back and explained the situation over and over again, and a couple days later the refund for the adults tickets that she had refunded us, disappeared!!!!! OMG !!! Honestly people, DON'T waste your money here.
