See below , My stay at the GSR was horrible, the room was a mess and the A\C was broken.

Came here for a midweek few days "away from home" time, and it was very quiet - until Thursday, when a convention showed up! Yikes! But the time was good here, with a spacious, clean room, a good selection of food and restaurants, and a nice walk around the exterior for some exercise and fresh air. Photos are from my meanderings, mainly exterior views. I was impressed with the amount of work already underway to add the Arena complex. It will be completely different down the road, and I see that they're planning to add new residential towers as well. Not the GSR of my younger (MGM-era) memories, but the future looks good! Overall, not bad rates for midweek this time of year, and a place where I can shelter in place for a few days without the need to drive anywhere. Will be back when I need another "get away."

Having another staycation because we had to book 2 nights for our comp room. The beds and pillows are comfortable and there was very hot water for the shower.

    Brown water coming from tap

Came here for three nights. Check-in was annoyingly long and the front desk was understaffed. Room was fine. Casino was fun. Although two separate dealers took my winning hand off the table. They were both apologetic and corrected it so no biggie. 2nd morning I finished brushing my teeth and my wife started brushing hers when she realized the tap water was brown. Our friend staying in the room next door came over and warned us about the water (too late) When I brought this up to the front desk manager she advised they were aware and it was being taken care of. She's told us to run the water a few minutes to clear it up and offered a bottled water. How the hell do they KNOW this is happening without a courtesy call to the room to warn them? It's inexcusable. The front desk manager couldn't give two flips and acted like I was crazy for being upset. They didn't accept any responsibility. I'm organizing a golf trip for 8 guys with 8 rooms this coming October. And we all gamble and spend generously. I was going to suggest GSR but not after this experience. I understand things happen that may be beyond their control but it's how you accept accountability that shows your true colors. Huge mistake on their part.

Service was great, even guests w ere helpful. The best gelato was at. The deli at second st. Got huge scoops of gelato. They had a lots of amenities such as the bowling alley, spas, 2 huge pools etc. I was totally surprised the Asian food at bistro was very tasty. Only bad item is parking, lots were full all the time.

I really enjoyed my stay at Grand Sierra Resort for the weekend we were there for my husband's softball tournament. This place is grand! I enjoyed the check in area with the beautiful lights and the gaming area. The people working at the check in counter were kind and helpful. I told the lady who checked us in that it was our first time and she took care of us by telling us what to expect and giving us a decent room with a nice view. I love that there's plenty of places to eat around here including a Starbucks. I did not go this visit but I did see many people who did. I went to the cafe and that was nice! I can't wait to check out what other bites this place has to offer. Those machines are fun! I liked the one where you pop the pig. I did not understand why getting a playing card did not get me any money to actually play with. I gambled over $100 and sadly did not win anything. I did not even explore all of it. I would have liked to check out the gym, shops and bowling. This gives me an excuse to come back again!

What a great way to kick off summer! Came here with a friend and stayed in the hotel. We had a cabana and ordered food while using the pool almost all day. The kids had so much fun swimming and relaxing on the cabana chairs. It was fun because they had trivia, music wasn't too loud and the food was delish. The prices on food are a bit pricey but it's convenient for ordering right by the pool. The hot tubs were set at a good temp and the rooms were spacious and updated.

The hotel was nice. It's been a long time since I've been there. It was busy with lots of people just the way I remembered it. They gave me a room on the 15th floor very close to the elevator. I didn't really like that so much but it didn't turn out to be a problem at all. The room was nice and clean. There were a few stains on one of the sheets , thankfully the other bed was fine so I just slept in that bed instead. We had a pizza from round table pizza, it was made fresh and hot, we took it back to our room because it was 8:55pm when we got there and they closed at 9 PM so they said we could take it to go but we couldn't eat in the restaurant . it's nice they have so many eateries to choose from on the property. I did a mobile checkout on my phone and it went smoothly. The next day when I got home the hotel sent me an email of my final check out bill and it included a $1.98 charge for housekeeping. I checked my hotel reservation confirmation and although there were taxes, resort fees and extra charges, housekeeping charge was not one of them. So I questioned that charge Albeit small because I arrived at the hotel at 8 PM and checked out at 7 AM. There was no housekeeping involved at all so I wasn't sure who authorized the $1.98 charge.

    WFA annual convention at GSR

We have been to three Western Fairs Association annual conventions held at the Grand Sierra Resort aka GSR. Twice we stayed at the hotel. Really luxurious rooms with great views - even when the view is just the roof of the place with snow all over it. We loved waking up, getting ready, mobile ordering Starbucks down on the main floor, taking the elevator, and getting our drinks immediately after we left the elevator. So convenient. Never an issue checking in or out. Great place to hang out with friends after a day on the trade show floor. Terrific food choices like Uno Mas, the Grand Cafe, and Rim. Great sportsbook to watch the NFL playoff games which are always on when we are in town. Bowling alley is super fun at convention time, too. One year our friends even got married downstairs in the wedding chapel with many friends there to support them. This year, about 17 magicians went to see the Magic Show in the theater downstairs. We definitely recommend GSR to anyone - local or out of town. Many fun events on the schedule - concerts, theatre acts, etc. Looking forward to our next convention.

    Pool

Stayed here for a weekend with my husband and 3 kids. The room was great! Spacious and clean. The amenities of the hotel are awesome. We were very disappointed with the service, we spent over $500 (for 2 adults and 3 small kids) at the steakhouse and were completely rushed during our meal. Staff brought out our soup, salad, appetizer, and entree all at the same time. It was clear they were closing and wanted us to leave, we felt very rushed, and the bussers kept hovering over our table and staring at us. It was a disappointing experience, especially when we're spending that kind of money. The pool also lacked customer service, the female bartender, completely ignored me. I was standing at the bar waiting, asked for my drink twice, but she decided to help young men that were around me instead. She was also eating a customer's chips off of their plate right in front of me which was weird. We also encountered a problem with the umbrellas at the pool, after paying for an umbrella we find out the pool (only one that kids are allowed in) is closed, we request a refund for the inconvenience. Kindly they grant us a refund, still expecting we would be able to keep the umbrella. 20 mins later the manager sends over a few life guards to take back the umbrella. We explained that we expected to keep our umbrella and we were refunded for the inconvenience. Edward manager comes over, and removes the umbrella by shaking and moving around all of our chairs as we are sitting there. My husband had to walk to the front desk to speak to a manager about this and thankfully they made it right and manager apologized. Great property, but needs a serious tuneup on the service.

This is a review for GSR's epic New Year's Eve Party for their rewards members which I am a part of. Mesmerized is all I can say. The theme was "Diamonds and Disco". Beautiful decor in the Grand Ballroom, chandeliers, sparkles, an acrobatic pole dancer and several beautiful show dancers. The band was amazing and I danced the night away. Food was filet and lobster. So tender and tasty. Hope to partake next year too. It was amazing!

I go quite often and aside from getting pretty busy at certain times, I haven't seen any issues with the elevators.

Are reservations needed for the on site dining options?

No, it isn't. However, if you are going to be dining with a group (5+ people), it's best to call or stop in ahead of time so they can have a space set-up for the group.

I believe it is now open and you can now order room service.

Supposed to only be "Service Dogs," but unfortunately many people are bringing their dogs and saying they are service dogs. Service dogs are very well trained, unlike most of the dogs that are being brought into the casino!

Does the spa offer a couples massage? Considering going here for my honeymoon.

I believe they do but would call them to make sure.

Can stairs be used instead of waiting for an elevator and are fridges active/usable in suite rooms?

Bed bugs, two room moves, and absolutely no mitigation plan!!!…read more I have never written a public review before, despite plenty of less than perfect experiences. I worked in the service industry for years and generally believe businesses deserve the opportunity to make things right. The Nugget had that opportunity and chose not to.. During our stay for Hot August Nights, we discovered bed bugs in room 1638. Security responded promptly, confirmed the issue, documented it, and moved us to room 2838. That replacement room had a long standing AC leak, saturated carpet, peeling wallpaper, and visible growth behind the wall covering. Engineering inspected it the next morning and told us we absolutely could not remain there. We were moved again, to room 1242. The frontline employees were kind, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Management was the problem. We repeatedly asked what the hotel could do to prevent us from carrying bed bugs into the next rooms or home with us. There was no laundry service, no heat treatment option, no containment procedure offered, and no written policy or protocol available when requested. We were allowed to move the same luggage and belongings from 1638 to 2838 and then to 1242 with no mitigation whatsoever. If we had picked up hitchhikers in the original room, we could easily have carried them through multiple hotel rooms and eventually home. We are now home and spending our own time laundering and heat treating our belongings because the property offered no assistance with this before our departure. Manager on Duty Cole Hughes was particularly disappointing. After initially avoiding speaking with us directly, he ultimately offered no meaningful assistance and told us, in substance, that once we left the property the problem would be ours. He then directed us back to Security, whose staff had already done far more to help us than management had. We requested management follow up in writing while we were still on property. No response. We requested information about what to do if we brought bed bugs home. No answer. We were told Risk Management would contact us in 7 to 15 business days. Before departure, I ultimately obtained the Risk Management phone number from Security myself. I called after returning home and left a message. This is what bothers me most: the Nugget responded to the rooms, but not to the guests. Moving us was necessary. It was not a complete response to a bed bug exposure. If this is what corporate ownership has turned guest service into, relocate, document, pass the customer to Risk Management, and wait for them to leave, it is incredibly disappointing. I am writing this because future guests should know: if you encounter bed bugs here, based on our experience, do not assume the property has a meaningful procedure in place to help prevent you from carrying them elsewhere or taking them home. Security and Engineering deserve credit. Management absolutely does not.

The only thing that I didn't appreciate was a call to attend an owner update. During my stay, I saw that there were several food options within walking distance.

Hubby & I just completed a timeshare exchange here through II. One of our best stays at a WorldMark…read moretimeshare resort. Pros: * we checked in a little past 4pm. We were warmly welcomed. * we were asked what floor we wanted. Low or high. We said quiet. We got room 803 facing the Eldorado * every day irregardless of time of day, the entire staff always had a big smile and a huge greeting. * our suite was surprisingly nice. It was roomy. It was clean. It was quiet. It was like a studio apartment. * the suite has dishwasher, microwave, small cooktop, washer & dryer. * walking distance to many casinos, the Riverwalk, various restaurants, Amtrak, etc. * game room, outdoor swimming pool, pool towels, free movies on loan. * Murphy bed which we didn't pull from the wall as there was only the two of us. Cons: * parking was very sparse. We were afraid to take our truck out at night as there weren't enough parking spaces on the ground floor or in the underground garage. * if your vehicle was more than 6'6" high your vehicle was too tall for the underground garage * paid WiFi. $49.95 for the week. We passed as we've got unlimited data on our phones. * II documents stated queen size bed. It was more like a double. Overall 4.5 stars.

It was pretty modern compared to some of the other Marriott's I've stayed in. A lot of space in the room but I feel the restroom could have needed a bit more space. It has all the things you could want, fridge, space to make out your clothes away, security safe. They have a small section in the lobby in case you want sodas or snacks. If you are in Reno on a quick trip I'd def recommend this place. Next time I come I heard the sushi place across the street is pretty good. PS. Didn't give it a 5 star due to the thin walls. You can hear almost everything in the morning when people are starting to move around

Water bottle filler in the gym. Wall AC. Microwave and mini fridge. Lots of homeless in area and sleeping on the river. Lots of bugs. Views are nothing- trees you can barely see water. There is a nice side patio by the river but bugs are plentiful. Parking is only $15 but you have to go outside and in the elevator to the garage across the street. Coffee shop across the street opens at 7ish. Courtyard "Starbucks" opens at 6:30 but again the staff is :( Room had a broken light fixtures and all the soap holders in the shower was loose with screws out. Also, the room stank whenever I came back so maybe shared with a stinky neighbor? Would I stay here again by choice? No.

Review from spring 2025. I am super sad they don't have the 35% off for locals again this winter…read more This is my happy place! I've been coming off and on for a decade. You can't beat their locals (and CA residents) get 35% off in Dec-March Sunday through Thursday. For a 25 minute "grand sampler" massage and entrance to their day spa all day I only paid 60$ plus tip and tax. Their day spa is so nice! It's modern and decorated in a tranquil teal color (my fave). It's a 9 hour escape from my kids and normal life and it's never too busy here. They have a co Ed relaxation room, HUGE co Ed spa that's the size of a small swimming pool, separate ladies spa, ladies lounge , ladies eucalyptus steam room and ladies dry sauna. What more could you want?! Feedback for improving- they used to have overhead rain showers now they have wall shower heads. Bring those back! They used to have a mist you can spray while you shower to fill the shower with eucalyptus and lavender. It used to be chained to the shower wall. They don't have those anymore. Bring those back! They used to give you one complimentary mimosa when you arrived. No more. Bring those back! Also, my shower suddenly went extremely cold when someone flushed the toilet. That needs to be worked on for sure. My robe was supposed to be a white or ivory on the inside. I know from experience. But the one I got must have been washed on hot and the dark color bled and made the inside look just grungy. That's an easy fix for them. Even with the above I'll keep coming back and rating it 5 stars for atmosphere and local appreciation.
