Really? Sure the bagel is fine, but head to Bagel Nosh or Brooklyn Bagel down the street- its worth the walk... Why I dont like it? A. Putting red and green bell peppers in cream cheese does not make it veggie. B. The service is AWFUL, we wernt running late until the line took at least 20 mins and we were only 5 people deep. WHAT? If you can not handle a small line at the morning rush hour, get out of the service industry now! C. I should have checked my change when I left, but since we were now running late I didn't, we gave a 20 and got three dollars back, we had two bagels and two coffees- I HOPE it wasnt that expensive Never again. I luv this place and their bag of day old bagels for $2. If I eat them fast enough with their Deeee-licious walnut cinammon cream cheese, it's like a roller coaster ride to heaven. i guess americans must be reeeeally particular about their bagel. im actually surprised to see only 3-4 stars overall for this place. im a semi-new astoria transplant, so i haven't seen the transformation of this place from what it use to be, but it certainly has a nice vibe to it now. i like getting the mini bagel and asking for lox spread or lox with cream cheese (easy on the cc!!) they definitely lay on the cream thick (perhaps because they 'charge a lot for it'?) but either way, people complain. how can you tell that a bagel is a 6-pack or not? seriously new yorkers.... extra stars for excellent service. they're always smiling and friendly even though their customers are sometimes DOWNRIGHT RUDE. chill out, grab your bagel + coffee with decency, and leave. it's not a gourmet restaurant, and these people work damn hard!!! stop acting so entitled and move back to brooklyn if you miss it so much. read more

I went in today to get a basic sandwich.. Meat, cheese, mayo, lettuce, and onions. Super basic right? I went to pay and the woman started adding on charges for the mayo (.75) lettuce (.35) onions (.35). In what universe do you charge these basic necessities for a sandwich? These items should already be included in the price! I mean that's just what makes a sandwich, a sandwich! I understand the add on charges if I got bacon or avocado, etc. but MAYO!?! LETTUCE!? Seriously!? That's just not right. I've never seen a deli do that in my life and I'm never coming back here again lol read more

Several bad experiences here, which I think justifies a review. It's the only bagel shop for a few blocks, so it's always busy, which the staff doesn't seem to know how to handle - the line is disorganized with no good procedure for ordering-paying, so you have to order more than once with different people, and they almost never get it right. My egg bagel was barely toasted though I requested crispy, and the cream cheese was both skimpy and slopped all over the wrapper. If you pass this place, keep walking. read more

Worst people ever. We have been looking for a good bagel place to continue our Sunday morning tradition, and my 3-year old and I stopped in here this morning (10-12-14). Shortly after, my boy told me he needed to go potty. I asked the guy behind the counter, and he said the bathroom was in the corner, past the register. I got to the register, and another guy pointed the way. Then the female owner blocked our way and said the bathroom was not for customers. My son is 3! And we know they have one b/c the other two guys even pointed it out! So we went to Bagel Nosh up the block, bought 6 bagels and smears, and then went back outside Lots-O-Bagels, and gave the next 6 people going in a free bagel and smear, and told them about what happened and the wonderful bagel place up the street, Bagel Nosh. LOB is my bagel go to joint. They make pretty good bagels, cream cheese is always fresh and they have awesome portion sizes for the price. Once in a while they'll mess up a delivery order, but you can't always get it right. I usually get bagel with lox and cc which is great and affordable. My bf gets egg sandwiches almost every Sunday and they're pretty good. Not too greasy and you always get what you're looking for. The remodel this year is really cute. It's a great place to stop in and grab a bite before getting on the train. The staff is attentive and always nice. read more

It's a pretty standard deli / bagel place. My big peeve is that the place overcharges a lot. Their markups are insane and I don't know that the food is worth the price. Their chicken salad was really, really good, though. But, I just don't see myself coming here to shell out a bazillion dollars for like a couple of bagels. :( read more

The last review I had was over a year ago... I've been going to L-O-B for a couple of years, and they've renovated into a modern space. So you'd think their prices would go up... it hasn't. Having heard so much about wonders of NYC bagels im glad I finally got to experience it at this place. The have every bagel to go along with many infused cream cheese options. YUMMY!!! So good!! They had a line almost out the door so I had a good time to review the menu and options. I settled for the jalapeño bagel with regular cream cheese and let me just say.....WOW!! Bagel heaven!!! No wonder there was a line out the door. The freshness was evident to go along with a perfectly toasted crisp bagel smothered with perfectly textured and fresh cream cheese. Absolutely faboulous. If I was a local I would easily become a regular here!! Luckily or unluckily depending on how you see I'm not a local cuz boy would I pack the pounds frequenting this place often as good as it is it's worth every dollar every calorie and the wait. I miss NY style bagels something ridic and made sure to check this place out while visiting friends this summer. And then I continued to check it out. Every day. The hand-rolled bagels are perfectly toasted on the outside and doughy in the middle and even come in whole wheat. The array of cream cheeses is unreal: lox, tofu, cinnamon walnut, bacon scallion, etc. So delish. My one qualm is that I wish there was more than one or two tiny tables to relax and drink your coffee and eat your bagel at. They're always taken and it usually means you have to take it home with you. This would be a non-issue though if this was the place you stopped at on your morning commute. read more

I grew up in Brooklyn. I also lived there during my 30's and early 40's. So, my standards for bagels are pretty high, if I do say so myself. I like the bagels in this place. That's all I can tell you: I have never ordered sandwiches or anything else. I make spreads and salads on my own; they adorn my bagels when I'm eating them at home. Other times--say, if I'm going on a bike ride or picnic--I'll take two bagels from this place and a piece of cheese with me. (After a couple of hours of riding or walking, Brie is just the right texture!) I've heard conflicting reports about the sandwiches and other food in this place. This is a cosy bagel place I frequented for breakfast when I was staying at a hotel in Queens. This was one of the only good options we had which had seating and decent foods. The range of cream cheese was staggering to a non-connoisseur like me, which is good. The couple I tried were good. The non bagel options, however, are only average. My go-to place for a big hearty bagel sandwich on the weekends. I don't want to gain 10 lbs. a week so I limit myself to one sandwich from this place a week but good god that one sandwich is the highlight of my week. Bagels are very good but their breakfast sandwiches are OK at best. I asked for fried eggs but was given "scrambled" also the sausage wasn't really warmed all the way through. The eggs also had a weird consistency and were a little mushy and soft. Would revisit for a bagel only. read more

Great Yelp reviews made me want to give this place a shot. It's also pretty close to my apartment and on a humid day like today, close is good. I got an everything bagel with low fat scallion cream cheese. And it was okay. Not nearly the best I've had, but nowhere near the worst. I just gave up milk products, red meat and pork, so when I found out Lots of Bagels has tofu cream cheese, ( plain, scallions and veggie available) I was pretty pleased. Their bagels are always fresh and delicious, service is excellent and quick and the atmosphere is pretty cozy for a bagel joint. They never seem toasted enough and if it's a everything bagel, usually only the top of the bagels are "everything" the bottom doesn't have any seasoning. I really wanted to give this place a 4 but the place is a little too pricey. All of the sudden it cost me 16 dollars for 2 bagels and two iced tea's, for that Ill just go to Sanford's next door and get full sit down meal with service. The bagels were good and fresh, tasted like bagels. Not to be a complainer but there are two registers and this should be made more clear by the staff.
