Walked into the LIC location on a Saturday morning and expected a massive line. I was pleasantly surprised to be out with a drink in under 10 minutes. The place was buzzing. Every table was taken and the energy was high. The service really stood out. The barista was genuinely friendly and clearly knew her craft. Just look at the latte art. They have a large outdoor seating area in the back that looks nice for the warmer months. * Gingerbread Latte (10/10): I am usually a black filter coffee or straight espresso drinker because I actually like the taste of coffee. The Christmas spirit got to me and I went for the seasonal special. This was surprisingly excellent. It wasn't syrupy or artificial. It tasted like actual gingerbread. We were staying in Long Island City and this spot was just around the corner from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. Truthfully, this place did not live up to expectations, but I'll start with the positives. The space is VERY cute. The inside is cozy, clean, and well decorated, and they have an outside patio that's also very pretty. We came in on a weekday morning, and the inside was packed, but there is plenty of seating outside if you can brave colder weather outside of the summer time. Unfortunately, at the time I visited the back patio smelled strongly of fish, which was off putting when having a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. While I won't hold this against them as you can't control the air outside, unfortunately everything else at Partners was a letdown. The service is lacking in many ways. When it was my turn to order, the barista at the cash register was talking with her coworker, so I waited for a bit. During this time another barista behind her looked up at me and asked what I wanted. I gave my order and that barista walked away. I waited for a bit more and the original barista at the register who was talking asked me what my order was and I had to repeat it. I usually don't mind laid back service, but this was giving more disorganized than anything else. It didn't help that during that time I noticed multiple other customers have issues with their orders, or like my partner, have his order mixed up with a complete different person. While the inside was full with people, it didn't seem like the bar itself was busy, so these mixups seemed easily avoidable. The real letdown was my hot Rose Cardamom Latte that started going cold before my partner's drink even came out. The taste of the latte was decent, but I've never had a coffee place serve me a cup that's lukewarm. Since it was cold outside my coffee didn't even make it down the street before most of the heat was gone. I really wanted to like this spot, but I've found better coffee elsewhere in the city and I don't think I would come back. read more

It was pretty good (and pretty sweet) and you can actually taste some of the black sesame! I like that it was inspired by the Chinese dessert "tang yuan" and the bits of black sesame def reminded me of it. I also got a butter croissant, which is just how I like it. Buttery, flaky, but gone too soon :( I wished they heated it up for me but I brought it home and microwaved for 10 seconds and it was great! We've also recently bought their beans. I'm assuming they roast somewhere regularly as they actually had roast dates on the bag and it was only a week old when we got them. Decent coffee shop in Long Island City / Queens area. I went here on Saturday morning and it was slightly busy. We got the seasonal signatures since I like to seek innovative drinks as I can easily just make a standard latte or similar standard coffee drinks without paying such a premium. The seasonal signatures we tried were Oatchata and The Nutty Irishman. Both were good on paper but taste fell a little flat. Oatchata has mostly cinnamon flavor but the oat milk kind of mutes the real horchata flavor. The Nutty Irishman is interesting as there's cereal marshmallow like Lucky Charms but the way they design the drink makes it incredibly difficult to eat any cereal marshmallow while enjoying the drink. It's my first time visiting New York in a few years and i was so excited for some of their good coffee shops. Partners was down the street from my hotel and I noticed they had a handful of lattes that sounded really good. Once arriving, the tables and seats were completely full with people studying and working. The baristas were all chatting and waiting for the next customer to come. We walked up to order some cardamom rose lattes since they sounded really good for a cold day like today. One of the baristas walked up and asked what we wanted then turned around and walked away. Another walked up and took our order and charged us and walked away as well to start talking to her coworkers again. We got my partners latte after a minute or so yet we had to stand around waiting for mine. One of the baristas called out some girls name and handed my drink to some lady. She told them she didn't order that and gave it back. At this time I didn't know it was my latte so we kept standing there waiting. After about 5 minutes and a small group of people forming around us, I asked if my latte was the one that had been sitting on the counter. He said "yeah it's a cardamon rose latte for Laura". We looked around and no one ordered it so I took the latte because I was the only one waiting for that latte. We went to the back patio to see the seating and right when we walked out, it smelled HORRIBLE. Like rotten fried fish. It was just us and one other girl outside eating. We got so grossed out we had to leave after a minute because it smelled so bad. I tried the coffee when we got back inside and it was sooo cold so a hot latte. My partner also informed me the barista poured out a good chunk of my latte before handing it back to me because he gave it to someone else originally. I am pretty disappointed in this place since I was really excited to try it yet I paid over $7 for a half gone, room temperature latte with bad service. It was fortunately not that cold so the patio was nice, but do be aware of the limited indoor seating when it gets colder and you want someplace warm to do some work. I ordered an iced matcha latte. First, why was it over $7. Sigh. Anyways, the latte was meh. It smelled and looked quite nice (I think good quality matcha powder) but ultimately was quite watery. I think there was just a bit too much milk and definitely too much ice that made the matcha flavour taste quite diluted and made the overall drink taste a little too sweet. Not the best matcha latte I've had but not the worst either. I don't drink coffee so I'm not really inclined to come again to try anything else, but it did seem like they had a decently popular selection of other drinks :) read more

Wow, this was my first official visit to LIC and the walk, backyard patio at Partners with the cute dogs, and the cherry on top-the Black Sesame cold brew latte! I have read mixed reviews on Partners Coffee and wanted to order "right." I like how strong the black sesame foam was, but at the same time you can add a non-dairy option to the drink. Had a bit more lemonade than tea taste, but honestly that is personal preference. The latte art was really cute with a nicely designed heart! The coffee had a really unique, strong taste to it and my mom really enjoyed it. There is a lot of seating indoors as well as outdoors. Plenty of seating for those planning to stay for a bit to work/read/talk with friends. It was pretty quiet indoors and I enjoyed it because it's hard to find places like this in NY. The espresso, Americano, and iced coffee were all fairly mediocre - a bit weak for all three with no notable tasting notes or flavors. Partners coffee is pretty legit. Got a oat milk cappuccino and the flavors blended easily with one another for a nice coffee experience. The coffee itself has this nutty, almost bright flavor (maybe chickory?) to it that definitely makes it taste distinct from other coffee shops, which I enjoy. Good place to do some reading. Yes for bathrooms, indoor seating, but no outlets. If I lived in LIC this would probably be a regular go to spot. I love the courtyard area it's so stunning. i'm glad that their weekend rule of no laptops don't include the courtyard, so I come here pretty often to study as a medical student. So far I've tried their iced matcha latte, iced matcha mango, cold brew coffee, and their hot chai latte. Every item I have tried, and I have tried a variety of menu items, was not very good. The best one was the chai latte but it still wasn't that great and the cup had a small hole in it anyways so it was leaking. I think there is also enough wait staff to bring your drink to you if you are dining in, instead of making people wait at the front where there is usually also a line. I understand if it is takeout but why ask if it dine in if you give me a paper cup anyways? I also don't like that they don't announce what drink is there when you do end up going to the front, I honestly don't know if that is my drink or not. Also, why is there no lids? No one is drinking straight from a full paper cup of a hot beverage. We all end up touching other people's lids and in the time I come to get my drink I have no idea if someone coughed or sneezed there, we just had a pandemic. I think with the average drink being $7, someone can hand the drink to you and put on the beverage lid. I also have tried to ask for customizations (and have heard other patrons do the same) such as asking for a drink to be hot not iced or not having coconut in the drink, and was told no. If the cafe was a vending machine, of course I would understand you cannot change the drinks. But as a cafe, especially an expensive one, I would think that the staff is trained enough to change up a menu item to have ice or not. Also, the kitchen and coffee closing so early does not make that much sense to me, I was told at 4:30 that I could not order anymore, but the cafe is open until 6pm. I just feel like that is a long time to need to clean up and I could have given the cafe more service - but I just decided to go home at that point because I was hungry. I think for the price tag, the lack of wait staff handing you your drink, slow service, not great drinks, it is not worth it on its own as a cafe but it is a great place to hang out and do work in the back. *update: today a customer asked for a sandwich to be made without bacon, and was told no as all sandwiches are premade. If there's anything I love more than quality coffee, it's a good cafe that goes along with it. The former Toby's Estate turned Partners Coffee has slowly taken it's Brooklyn roots and firmly planted them into the LIC coffee scene. In addition to offering a superior product, they managed to take this space and make it into a solid destination for a sip, lounge, work, and meet. As noted, the space is very comfortable and offers a contemporary cool scene look while exuding very low key vibes. There are a decent number of seats, all equipped with outlets and reasonably fast WiFi. There is a nice bright view from the windows to the streets, and all sorts of coffee goodies (memorabilia, ground coffee, mugs, etc.) sprinkled throughout the store. I have to say, they serve a mean cold brew. It's not too strong, but it's potent enough where the average drinker should most definitely be sipping. Their iced matcha latte is also the stuff of dreams, even at a hefty $6 price tag. Their hot lattes are always subject to quality art from the talented and creative baristas. When this pandemic is over, I surely plan on stopping by for a little LIC people watching, a sip of a seasonal coffee drink, and getting some real work done while staying caffeinated. read more
