One of the worst clinical trials I've ever participated in. Investigator Deceived me in the screening process, and wasn't honest with the protocol and the procedures. For instance, investigator MEver me roomed that throughout my 8 days of cOnfinement, I'd be: 1) bedside -- heavily restricted in my movement. In fact most study clinics have rEcreational areas for their subjects. Not this. Was more like a hospital area and you were discouraged from ever leaving your room. 2) nowhere did I find in the protocol thAt I'd be forced to have a pulsometer around my fInger most of the day AND night. 3) my slumber was interrupted at 5:30 am due to construction behind my room. Legally speaking, construction canNot he done at this time due to loud noise which is disturbing. Hospital didn't care. Btw. Construction is illeGal to operate before 7:00 am on the wEekdays.. Very low pay given the torturous and mislEadIng conditions of the study. Would never consider doing anoTher study here. Put a fork in it! read more

So this is my second go round. i got the bunionoctomy with amazing results. I was blessed to have my full tummy tuck through Lotus Clinical Research with no expense out of pocket. Plus the bonus is that they pay me for participating in the study. I was truly happy to participate to find out if study medication work. I can say that it was truly beneficial. I was placed on the list by Aracelly and I would call her periodically to check if the study was coming soon. I called so much Aracelly knew me by name lol. She was so helpful from the beginning to the end, letting me know that it was my time. I was astatic when she sent my the email to call her to schedule for my surgery. Lotus is an amazing company with an amazing staff! I know it sounds like it's too good to be true because that's what I thought originally. I decided to go to the consult and see for myself and it was the best decision I ever made! I got a breast augmentation back in January 2019 with Dr. Rughe and I had the best experience. My doctor was fantastic and gave me the exact results I wanted, my recovery was easy and pain free, my stay was comfortable, and the Lotus staff were sweet, caring, professional, and so friendly. They really kept me company while I was there for the 4 nights. It gets pretty lonely being in recovery alone and the nurses and staff were awesome to talk to and I genuinely bonded with them during my stay. I was really surprise at how fast all this happened... It wasn't until a couple of months ago that I heard an advertisement for a research study that I hoped I would qualify for. Sure enough I was prequalified and was brought in a few days later for a pre-qualifying exam. The facility is located in an old wing at the Huntington Memorial Hospital.The study team explained what they were testing and how the process worked. I also met the study doctors and the surgeon during that first visit. Everyone was so nice and caring. I was nervous and scared, but they really took their time with me and put my mind at ease. The first visit was a long visit and lasted approximately 4 hours because of all the testing and x-rays. I was booked for surgery a week later. I was in a tremendous amount of pain that first night after surgery. The nurses and study doctors were all very kind, attentive, and patient with me. As time progressed the pain lessened and I hope that I was more pleasant to be around. I was in their care for approximately three days. I was also allowed to order whatever I wanted to eat during my stay. The food was really good. I had been told to bring books and other items to keep myself entertained. They had a TV, but it was old so I never watched it. Instead, I used my Kindle Fire and watched Netflix with their free wi-fi to pass the time (bring stuff to do). Overall, my experience was pretty good. I would come here again if I qualified for another study. read more

It's now been 6 months and everything went great and I never had any complications or pain with the surgery. Participated in tummy tuck trial, which I had been wanting for years. It's been 2 weeks but I love my results. It was also great that 4 days and 3 nights I was completely taken care of. I was not in pain but just felt tightness day 2 or 3. Never got my prescription filled because I haven't been in pain. I am so glad for the study drug because According to friends and family, I should be in pain. No one believes me when I say I'm not in pain. The only discomfort was laying in bed for so long my back hurt. You can also eat what you want and choose from the menu whenever you want. It was a great experience and I'm glad I went through with it. The nurses were all so nice and helpful. I had a wonderful experience here. I did the Bunion Study. The staff was great and attentive. My one and only complaint was that after I did the Bunion study and I as released, I had to get myself over to the x-ray building by myself. A little complicated for someone who just has foot surgery. My advice to them would be for the staff to take the patient over for any final test or x-rays before they are released. You mustn't forget that because the study is over, the patients pain and complications are still present and they must continue to be treated like patients. Other than that, I was attended too just like any other hospital experience. They wake you up in the middle of the night just like any other hospital. Even though you have to stay in bed all the time, I had access to the internet and could entertain myself with my devices. So the overall experience was tolerable and pleasant. If asked I would do another study with them. read more

I'm very late doing this review, but I participated in research study for a mini tummy tuck. From the start, I didn't feel pressured to do anything I didn't want to. I was told I could decline the study at any point. I was there overnight, and the staff was amazing. they were patient with me when I could barely move, and available to answer any and all questions. Even when I came back a week later for my follow up with them, they were very nice. I had just over an hour to kill between my appointment with them, and the surgeon, and they let me relax in one of the beds and made sure I was comfortable until it was time for me to go. if I ever do another research study, I would definitely do it with Lotus. The staff was great, the surgeon they used (Dr. Lakshman) was AMAZING, and there were no problems from first registering, through getting paid. read more

I'm not sure why everyone else got great results for their MINI-TUMMY TUCK- BUT I DID NOT- I REPEAT- DO NOT DO IT!! I did my homework, read reviews and was convinced. My results are HORRIBLE- I look like a water balloon with a rubberband. I truly believe they opened me up, did their research and glued me back together. I dont believe ANYTHING was removed or tucked. I also got an infection and it was dreadfully painful and just a terrible experience all together. This place is completely disorganized and seem to have no concern for their research subjects. I spent 4 hours doing their initial screening and was told that if I was selected my surgery (tummy tuck) would be either on July 6th or 8th (about 2 weeks from my initial evaluation). I waited for a phone call or an email letting me know if I had been selected and heard NOTHING. I sorta figured that for whatever reason I had been eliminated as a research candidate; okay not bothering to tell me is rude but whatever.... Well, late Friday afternoon on the 4th of July weekend I get a phone call AND an email from Lotus giving me pre-op instructions for my Monday surgery. Well, I don't know about you but I need a little bit of time to arrange time off for work, transportation, pet care, etc.; you know, stuff that is associated with undergoing a surgery that will incapacitate me for more than a week. I called the woman back and told her that it just wasn't possible for me to get everything coordinated and that this short lead time was pretty unacceptable. Rather than being apologetic for the snafu she just seemed irritated with ME for being annoyed. I did ask if there was another surgical date available and she said there was one slot left on the 13th that was available on a "first come first serve" basis. I was interested but I was somewhat bothered by the idea that I'd be going through a very painful surgery with an organization that doesn't have their act together. Rather than accepting the slot I told her I'd think about it. Well, today is the day of the surgery they booked and I cancelled and guess what? I get a phone call; THEM: Hi, we had you scheduled for a surgery today, are you still planning on showing up? ME: Uhhhhhh no, I told Patricia on Friday that it would be impossible for me to be there because you guys didn't give me time to get the time off of work. And clearly you guys are so flakey that she didn't bother taking me off the schedule, or try to fill the vacant slot. THEM: Oh. Okay. "Oh. Okay." Really? No element of surprise about this grand snafu? No "I'm really sorry?" No nothing but "Oh. Okay" I'm sorry, this place is ridiculous. I feel as if I dogged a bullet. If this place can't get scheduling right I really don't want to trust them to put me to sleep, cut into me, and be responsible for my post operative care. I have to imagine that between parking, the stipend they paid (if the money they said they're going to deposit on a credit account actually ever gets onto the account), the blood tests, the physical, etc. recruiting me as a subject was costly: not to mention having an unused surgery slot that should have been filled but wasn't!I was FULLY prepared to participate but didn't because they were so unprofessional. I'm sorry, just because someone isn't paying for a surgery doesn't mean that their time should be treated in a cavalier manner. I had a bunion procedure with Lotus. From day one I had such a lovely experience with all of their stuff. Starting with the lady who took my call & explained the process of being qualified, all the way to my post operation days at the hospital when the nurses took care of me round the clock. The operation was a success, thanks to the great surgeon they hired: Dr Hakakian! But it was my time after the operation that warms my heart. They were kind, attentive, diligent, kind... I can't tell if they are great at their job or just great people. I'd like to think they are both. My experience at Lotus was good overall. The bedside care was great & the pain management was excellent. I was really scared going into this knowing it was a study & wasn't sure about going through with it. I was scared for all the wrong reasons. The one thing I was not concerned about was the outcome of the bunionectomy because he was a Licensed Doctor and has been doing this for a while. Well,,, I should have been concerned. Although my bunion is gone, I have a oval "hump" there in place of the bunion. I did everything the doctor told me and even kept my foot wrapped longer thinking it would help. It didn't help. The doctor stated that if I massaged the area it would go down. He stated it was just scarred tissue. I googled it and asked around but no one thought it was scarred tissue exactly. The hump is still there til this day. I do plan on getting this fixed by another doctor. I would have gave this review 5 stars if it wasn't for the hump left on my foot. Hope this helps. read more

I recently qualified for a full tummy tuck In December 2018. Everyone was amazing!! Everything ran so smoothly and efficiently. I loved my Doctor, Dr. Kevin Rohge! My nurses that took care of me that I especially noticed went above and beyond for me, Masis, Evelyn, and Annelyn during my 4 day stay at Huntington Hospital. Even the food from their cafeteria wasn't bad, they treat it as close to room service as possible. I really enjoyed being around them, I felt completely safe and in good hands, and at the end of the last follow up visit with them, I was almost sad to say good bye. I can honestly say I would definitely recommend doing a research trial with them. They keep your safety and comfort as #1 top priority to them. Sadly this is going to be the last time I go to lotus, I would like everyone to know this so they look at the big picture. Now they might have a menu that you can choose some what most things that other locations dont give you a preference to or option of. They do give you, your room for the study and its clean. However all that's nothing compared to pay cause honestly when it comes down to it whoever goes there is mostly there for the money and they know this too. Yet lotus spends most of its money on location, that they cant pay its volunteers, so how is it every other location that's in the same field of work can pay you in disbursements once you completed even a portion. Then you call the staff at lotus and they say long term 4 to 6 weeks. Truthfully there not doing well, they have small studies that pay pennies compared to other locations, they have a long process to pay out volunteers. Weres the plus side because I cant see it. The only positive thing about lotus is its connected to a good hospital. But that hospital has nothing to do with lotus other then food and an old section of a hospital that they rented to lotus. They will promise you a sooner date but I'm telling you I got no money my 1st stay or my 2nd stay. So please do yourself a favor go else where, LOTUS IS BROKE AND CANT AFFORD TO PAY ITS VOLUNTEERS. The doctors and staff dont wait 4 to 6 weeks for a paycheck ,why should we? read more

As u can hear and see all of the "qualification" but when we called there was all other kind of disqualifications such as BMI amount that is unrealistic for the average american man. 2/12/2017 PROS: AWESOME STAFF I just had the tummy tuck and wanted to acknowledge the super-attentive and friendly staff who looked after me post-op for 3 days/2 nights.. Actually even before the operation, the Surgery Center administrative check in guy and prep nurses were kind, and reassuring. Post Op: Over the 3 days that followed the super kind/professional post op, staff, Nesh, Maryann, Stephanie, Ryan, Austin, and the other post-op staff were VERY KIND, HELPFUL, PROFFESIONAL,and accomodating. At night especially, they were gentle and quiet and so courteous. They took great care to explain everything and most of them positively reeked of professional compassion and concern. This engaged, highly trained group are young but disciplined, calm and upbeat. The nursing staff I interacted with [with one possible, unsmiling exception--she knows who she is--] are warm, friendly and seem to really enjoy what they do. The professional administering the test drug were also very gentle, super-pleasant and fast. The post-op, on-staff MD was professional, kind and throrough. The surgeon Dr. Lakshman was kind, calm and professional, I am excited to see the final result! The food was fine, and you were free to determine your own meals, a nice perk. CONS: The accommodations could use a 'tune up'. It is nice to have a private room, but not so nice to share a tiny bathroom with another patient, particularly with no air freshener. Some rooms had windows, mine did not ;-(. They need a thermostat in the patient rooms. When I arrived, I was asked "Did you bring a blanket?" I was stunned, who brings their own blanket to a hospital? Regardless, I wished I had. Mine room was freezing. I wore a knitted beanie, and my wool coat over my hospital gown to keep warm. The staff did their best to load my bed up with hospital blankets [the cotton ones] and eventually it was cozy. My post-op medical supplies [not the medicine] were a pain to procure, I could not find the exact required big pads and the tapes and bandage pads at CVS all seemed too skinny or too small. I bought the wrong stuff, cobbled it together and it was uncomfortable. For the few days between release and Dr visit, Lotus could give us a post-op care kit with pads, and tape and lessen that drama. All in all, a good experience and I do recommend them highly. read more

heard about this on the radio. get a bunionectomy and get some money for it. i passed the first questionnaire over the phone and they said come in for a first "interview". apparently she meant a "large group intake", and had failed to mention to any of us , that it would last 4 and a half hours. this was the beginning of a succession inconsistencies about the process, procedure and care. "call us any time if you have any questions"= 5 calls never got returned and pre operation questions unanswered. "ofcourse well help you with pain management if you get the placebo" = "an ibuprofen will have to do unless you want to forfeit the money and leave the hospital asap". the amount of compensation written on an information sheet, was different from what we were told at the intake, which was different when we got our money. to our surprise as we were admitted to the hospital and hour before surgery, we were told we STILL might be considered ineligible, meaning not get paid and leave care after surgery. cable tv promised was basic cable. wi fi for my laptop didnt work "in my room". on and on... i couldnt tell if they were incredibly inept or incredibly manipulative. happy to have gotten thru it and got my money, to find out that i was supposed to get something to separate my toes during aftercare that never given to me or mentioned and now my foot is permanently misshapen. brutal. read more

I participated in the mini tummy tuck. I was nervous and excited. But then I was greeted by the staff and Dr. Ruhge who was the best there ever was. Ask the staff, except for one person named Chloe, was so friendly, nice, accommodating and patient with me. They were so friendly and each, but Chloe, came in and introduced themselves to me and told me what they were going to do, and made me feel so comfortable that when it was time for me to be released to go home I really didn't want to go. But I was very unhappy with Chloe. She first come in during intake, never told me her name, took my vitals and walked out. When I came in for the procedure, she did my IV's, but acted like she didn't know what she was doing and stuck me in the arm several times that I asked someone else to come in and do it. Then she would snatch my monitors off when I asked them to be placed in another location because they do get a little tight after awhile, and that did hurt. MY breathing was s but shallow but she didn't want to give me oxygen until the doctor came in and Told her to, and I saw by the way he looked at her as he left the room that he was not happy with having to tell her to do that. But what tore it for me with Chloe was when she acted like she couldn't find a vein and stuck me in my left hand with the IV needle and it really hurt me so I asked the head nurse to come in and she placed the IV in and I didn't feel a thing. If it wasn't for Chloe, my experience was perfect in every way and I'm still interested in other clinical trials. And I won't take away any stars because of her because everyone else was AMAZING to me and I again thank you guys again for making my experience memorable. I'm so happy. I answered a Craigslist ad looking for healthy volunteers and received a phone call the next day. The receptionist explained the process and payment structure. First step was the screening process--I would be compensated according to the receptionist, so I set up my appointment. When I arrived, there were about 10 other people there filling out paperwork for what I am assuming is the same study. After all the paperwork, we meet individually with a nurse who answers all our questions.
